Doc, your tutorials are a class for themselves. I've collected as many as I could, but you're so productive, it's impossible to stay on target. I, for sure, would be happy to have a bound book for reference, even at a price of, say $30 to $50. Willy (nudge, nudge)
Thread: EFashions Girl needs help :) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
She looks nice and petite. I like that more than the valkyrie-style V3. But you'll have to do something about her bottom (see the center picture). There should be some "rounding out" ;-) or else she'll have troubles sitting on that! Willy

Well, we men always need a woman to tell us, what to do next ;-) I've tried the same thing the other way around. The result is: The Top-cam now shows perspective - but you cannot change the angle of vision - it is always top-down! That would be almost what arrow1 had in mind. Willy
Thread: Camera | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hehehe! I've tried it! I've loaded a simple prop (so I have something to see). Then I switched to the "From Top"-camera I did a CTRL-C Switched to "Main"-camera and ... did a CTRL-V ---> The viewport looked exactly like the "From Front"-camera!!! I think, the copy operation took SOME but not all of the parameters. Now I have a Main-camera which cannot move in y or x-direction :-) Well, after a hearty "NEW" the main-camera was normal again! Phew! Willy

The TOP camera is an orthographic camera, one that doesn't show perspective, that is. That's a very unnatural sight.

Shogakusha, software that isn't WRITTEN for using more than one thread just won't do - love it or leave it ;-) Willy
Thread: ockham? where are you? help??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Oh, BTW, Ockham, is there a way to uncheck the "smooth polygons" checkbox for all the bodyparts of a large item? I used Georges Castle and found out all was blown up because I like to have "smooth polygons" on in the render options (as there are persons in the picture). Willy

Whenever I make props from primitives I just export the whole group - then I use File -> NEW - and re-import the fused object. For some security I "SAVE AS..." the whole scene befor I press NEW. Willy
Thread: Help to put shadow on figure | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Think of a shadow camera as a camera which is fastened to one of your lights. The direction the light shines is the direction the shadow cam points. So: 1. Select one of the shadow cams 2. "object -> properties" gives you a panel with x-rotate, y-rotate and z-rotate. 3. spin the dials so you can see your ball prop in front of the body part on which you want to fall the shadow 4. change back to "main camera" (or the like) 5. render The shadow will come up exactly where you put it. Thread: Solve the refraction riddle of the eyeglasses....a call to arms/brains | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've tested your last setup with a single sided square and a very thin box prop. Changing the render settings had no effect. Playing with the material settings had no effect (even when "reflection + refraction = 1"). Changing any of the colors in the materials had no effect. There was nodifference as long as the single sided square was in the SAME distance to the face as the front side of the box prop. This distance between the front of the glass and the surface is the only crucial parameter. So far - the only way to prevent those ugly artefacts is to increase the distance between the glasses and the face. Make the lenses smaller so you can have a greater distance to the side of the nose. This seems to be a real flaw in the firefly renderer. Willy

Well, it depends on what you want exactly. If you only need a prop (head and eyes), just File -> EXPORT as an .OBJ-File and re-import it as a prop. You can do this also with the grouping tool: select the head then use the grouping tool "new group / add all / create prop". Then save the prop into your props-library. Making a fully poseable fihure, like, a talking head, is more difficult. You can use the above mentioned prop and copy the head morphs with a tool named Morph Manager (do a search - it's in the freebie section). Willy
Thread: P5 material question - speckles in glass | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Try to make the background color of the REFLECTION node white. This color will be used when the bouncing rays don't meet any object in your scene. i.e. whenever they go into infinity. Willy
Thread: Easy-follow | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Because of the way Poser does parenting, we can't have both an split and a merge in the same chain; only a split is possible when starting from the Node.<< That's why I asked, if the item could "jump" onto a different node, which would implement a merge, like a railway siding, or a river with an island in it. A list of possible (but not necessarily parented) props with a "point of interference" would do.

Ahh! RAILing - here it is again ;-) BTW, let's start with a flatcar, 'cause you can put, like, anything as a load on it (except fluids, that is).
