I'd heard that the out of stock listing was simply an automatic thing. CL promised everyone who ordered in a timely fashion would receive a copy. In the original solicitation the deadline was 4/30. That means anyone who wanted to still has a whole month to do so. kmw

[quote XENOPHONZ]"Some of us understand this......and we have no problems whatsoever in sleeping on it."
Quote - ssshhh. I was trying to imply we're all in the same boat. Walking around on our knuckles waiting for P6. To imply some of us are going about our business would dilute my point. Wait. I just said it, didn't I? damn kmw

Yes, many do, I suppose. But that looks like a very complex character. You say so yourself. Imagine how long it's going to take to put together. How many morphs it's going to need. I'm just saying you're asking someone -- who probably has enough on his plate as is -- to put six months into this and I was wondering what're the chances that's gonna happen. No need to get upset. kmw

[quote eecir]"I bought Softimage XSI Foundation a while back. On ordering it online I was able to prolong the life of the demo and the physical box came 5 days later - now that's what I call service. I guess I'll get stuck in and start learning XSI next week and wonder how Curious Labs got things so wrong."
Quote - Well the difference is there was a demo available. If it weren't, you would've had to wait for the shipment, right? Blaming CL for your decision is terribly unfair. CL never made any promises. Even their pre-ordering notices told us WHEN the downloads would specifically be available, while they were suspiciously vague about when the hard copies would go out. If it helps, go offline and stop reading about all the hilarity and fun all those lousy :) DLers are having with P6. I for one had no illusions about when I might get my order. DL, even phone line, is faster than snail mail. Plain and simple. Patience, grasshoppers. Our time is nearing... kmw

[quote Gareee]"And CL sould be registering our serial numbers before they ship them, so supplying our serials with a download option wouldn;t have been that hard to impliment."
Quote - Is that possible? Since each serial number is sealed in the packaging how can CL determine which consumer ends up with what serial number? Outside of opening every package and controlling who got what box? Which I believe would be waaaay too much work. (I wouldn't want to do it. And truthfully if my packaging came open, my reaction wouldn't necessarily be happy...) Unfortunately, we in the Box/Wait Club made our bed. Now we're just gonna have to lay in it unable to get to sleep. :) kmw
Thread: Tracking Poser 6 boxed version | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hmmmm. If I recall, CL did send me an e-mail to let me know they'd put P5 into shipping. (Don't recall if it came with a tracking number and all that. Can't check for sure until I get home.) But I still think CL's a couple of days away from shipping. The folks who went for the download were pretty smart (and fortunate) cookies. Me? I like books and the original disks. kmw

Good luck. You've just asked a community of people who make money doing this to do it for free. And openly advising it's going to take a lot of work to boot... But hey, you never know, right? :) kmw

quote anxcon": "by saying that, you also would stand against lesbians/gays people live and feel how they want, dont judge what is or isnt "wrong", if the only thing in life is boy+girl in your mind, then you are at fault" Are you crazy?!? You insult the entire gay community by implying what they do is akin to the rights of pediophiles. (And it's actually thinking like this that maintains a bias against them throughout this deluded country of mine.) I have a 14 year old daughter and I don't want any grown man admiring her sexually. It is WRONG! quote anxcon: "im straight, and i realize people come in all forms and therefor i dont judge them for the way they "feel" " Riiight. And you obviously don't have children. But you're entitled to your opinion of course. As wrong as it may be. kmw

quote plmcelligott: "I'm sorry, but I have a hard time getting too upset over a "perv" getting his jollies from a computer generated image of a person who doesn't really exist, regardless of the context. There is an easily discerned distinction between pedophiles stalking real children in a public place and someone getting over-stimulated by a fake image on the internet." I'm sorry that you can't see that they're the same thing. While I prefer to have no real opinion of this debate (tho I'd probably lean toward a case-by-case basis as opposed to a blanket ruling), your statement that a perv getting jollies off digital art kiddies instead of real ones isn't the same thing is disturbing. Full grown adults SHOULD NOT be stimulated by children, fake or otherwise. There'd have to be something inherently wrong with that person. You should be aware of the difference and wonder if a man who gets stimulated watching a small child in a playground or staring at digital art on the internet should spend quality time with your daughter or son. kmw

I have all my content on an external HD. No need to check and cross check disks anymore. That was making me nutso. Plus this way I've avoided the really horrible habit I had of buying the same items twice. [Finding something I'd just purchased on an old disk happened all the time.] And I'm curious to check out P6's new runtime features. Right now with P5 I have them all broken down by character and project. The new method looks to open it up even more. (I just hope they've corrected the compatibility with Vue.) kmw

cooler says: "Using the example of Marvel Comcs & "mutant". Assuming they have trademarked the term they can only restrict it's use WRT to comic books & the characters involved. Legally there is nothing they can do if I want to open a chain of restaurants named "Mutantburgers"."
Well, I'm going to assume you know a lot more about this than I ever will. Tho I probably used the wrong terms my facts were valid/true. Marvel has copyrighted (or 'trademarked') the word 'mutant'. And if 'Mutantburgers' came anywhere near what they thought was an infringement on their property, don't think they wouldn't try to stop you. Trust me on this. I have a letter from their lawyers in my basement threatening to sue me for a minor infraction of one of their characters. kmw

To ExistentialDisorder: I'm afraid Cooler's right. You can copyright a word, if you want to spend the money and go through the legal trouble. Marvel Comics, believe it or don't, owns the word 'mutant.' And while they're not very strict about its public use, they make damned certain no other comic company uses it. It's why DC coined the phrase 'metahuman'. Also, the word 'xerox' is copyrighted. Technically, any time you use it it's supposed to be capitalized and though it's common practice to do otherwise, it's not supposed to refer to making copies. It's supposed to be used to refer to the machine that makes copies.
I don't know if CL owns the word 'Poser' though. But they definitely have a trademark on that named software, which means they can protest any software-related enterprise choosing to use the word. And that includes web-sites.
As for a new name for the forum, I say let's go with 'Shirley'.
