Yeap, we all saw this happen before. I hope that Zygote and Curious Labs keep their support to Jack and Ed, otherwise we'll be homeless. It will be very difficult for them to start a new site without financial backup. Now all depends on the amount of support they get from members here.

I posted a reply to that message at poser forum and they were both deleted. See also "Comments welcome" at poser forum. Nothing good stays the same in this world for too long. Money is all :-(

BTW, use the pic to drive the transparency and set "blend transparency" mode, otherwise the 2d object will stay visible.
Thread: To Brycetech... | Forum: Bryce
I had the same problem and, after some experimenting, I found what seams to be another Bryce's bug: When you load your pic by clicking at the top of the first pic and copy&paste to the 2nd chanel, the alpha chanel information losts contrast. You end up with that semi-transparent pic you mentioned. If you load the same pic by clicking at one of the empty pic buttons below it works allright. Funny, isn't it?
Thread: stupid question about shadows =P | Forum: Bryce
Not a stupid question at all Daijoobu! I'm tried all possible tricks to blur the shadows. Problem is that Bryce has a raytracing engine and doesn't use shadow maps like Poser. Raytracing renders precise and sharp shadows. Adjusting shadows contrast in the sky editor just decrease the intensity - the shadows stay sharp. When I badly need to soften a shadow, I duplicate the light, offset it slightly and adjust the intensities - the 2nd light being 25 - 50% of the main one. That way you get a softer border but a bigger rendering time. If the culprit light is the sun, create a spotlight with the same color and place it about the same alignment.

Thread: REQ: partially eaten apple | Forum: Bryce
I found a whole 3ds apple sometime ago at 3DCafe. To make it partially eaten, make a simmetrical lattice drawing a circle with irregular borders. You'll need more than one. Scale and position the lattices accordingly, and apply a yellowish material. Make the apple positive, the lattices negative, apply the lattices to simulate the eaten part and group. You may see the final result in one of my pics "Eve: Desire" in my gallery at Renderotica (search for nandus).
Thread: a weird problem | Forum: Bryce
Here it is (freeware): http://www.sci.fi/~borg/rambooster/index.htm By the way bones, I had a similar problem rendering one of my pics which file was well over 70Megs (Eve:Desire at Renderotica). Rambooster fixed my problem.
Thread: a weird problem | Forum: Bryce
My advice: Get Rambooster. I dont recall now the URL for it, but it is a must when working with Bryce. Bryce manages memory poorly and with large files you must clean your ram. Make a new window profile for Bryce, without any task bar "resident" programs except video, sound and Rambooster. Before rendring call Rambooster to free all the RAM you can.
Thread: Tiled terrians | Forum: Bryce
Redmadrona, Calyxa's tutorial is the only one I know about. After making another tile, what I do is: 1- hide ground plane 2- select the new tile, go to maximum zoom 3- move to the border and move the new tile until the match is perfect. Calyxa's suggestion about grouping the tiles, scaling the group up, adjusting borders and scaling group down works very nice. I have no visible gaps in my renders that way.

Thread: Mobius "Alora" model comments? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
As far I can see in the pic at the store, Mobius could fix those large polygons at the shoulders & buttocks. It doesn't make sense to have a hires like Alora with some of the P4 mesh deffects.

Allie, that is an excellent idea that should be implemented as soon as possible. I also liked Geek's suggestion of pay-per-image per period. Nandus
