Rats! Batronyx beat me to it. Congratulations Dr Geep, I just saw this in the Rendorosity Newsletter.
Thread: In Poser 5, take the poser square.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks guys! I thought that maybe the obj file had been replaced or corrupted with the Poser 5 install, but it obviously isn't that. I'm off to bed now, thanks to you guys this problem won't kep me awake. :0)

It's not an SR4 feature, I've always had this problem with Poser 5, but I've been able to avoid it...till now. I really don't want to rebuild the prop I made with these poser squares in Poser 4. I'm wondering if Poser 5 replaced the square's obj file. I may have to re-install Poser 4 to get the original object.

A Wak is a type of walk, if you were wondering! :0) P.S. There are loads of boks on animation, but a really smart, very visual explanation of the basics of animation are covered very well in a book called The Animator's Workbook by Tony White.

To avoid this problem in future, use the add keyframe button to add a keyframe to the whle figure. To fix this problem, use the Animation palette. You can use the mouse to click and drag and select a vertical line of keyframes. You can then copy them to the frame required. You can even drag a selected group of keyframes for fine tuning. You can also select a horizontal line of and element and apply the appropriate transition. I mostly use linear- wish that was the default!- and use spline sparingly. When creating an animation, I'd recommend picking two points- set up the first pose and the last and then do what's called in-betweening. The easiest way to do this is pick a mid point and adjust it to the correct position. Then keep picking mid-points between the key frames till you are happy with the result. For example, a person jumping from point a to b. Create the pose for the character when he's about to jump at point a in frame 1. Create the pose for the landing at say, frame 30 (you can always drag these keyframes to a different point later if it's not right). Now go to frame 15. You'll find the character is midway between the two points, so set the height and the pose you want for the mid jump position. Note- The Y parameter would be a good use of the spline effect. You'll probably need to go to frames 7 and 22 to create inbetween poses and then keep fine-tuning till you are happy with it. How many in-betweens you create will depend on how complicated the motion you are trying to capture is. A wak often has very small gaps between key-frames where-as the movement of a car in a straight line would not require any in-betweens. Hope that helps!

I think you've approached this from the wrong angle. What I think you need to do is make this a figure which conforms to the person. Now I'll leave someone else to explain how to do that!

I'm sure this was suggested in this forum before, but I don't know if anyone has ever done it. Keep the figure in the same place as it 'walks' and move the scenery (and, if required, the camera). Apologies to the genius that thought of it, I can't remember who you are.
Thread: Cannot access www.DAZ3D.Com from W98! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well back to my topic! I managed to solve it. I ran winipcfg, selected NDIS 4.0 Driver and clicked on renew all. This allocated me a new IP address which works for the DAZ 3D site. I have no idea why the old address didn't work!

I have a whole bunch of perfectly good hardware that doesn't work with Windows XP, so that's why I have a dual boot system. Ye old laptop that runs Windows 98 doesn't have enough memory to run XP, but it is good enough for the kids, listening to the radio on-line and participating in forums- which is what I'm doing now on it. Thank you Karen1573, did you know you look remarkably like Karen1572 (would you be by chance related?), I'll try that when the wife has finished her word processing. My wife is also incompatable with Windows XP and has to use Windows 98.

My firewall is built into the ADSL modem which is used by the W98 machine that does have access, so it is not that. I can't see anything in my Internet Security settings that would affect DAZ3d- any clues as to what I'm looking for?

Poser 5 is great- if it works on your machine. However, if you are one of the minority for who it doesn't work, then it sucks. (I base this minority statement on previous threads in this forum- when someone asked if P5 worked there were many, many more said yes than no. Those who can't get P5 to work are frustrated and, understandably, they are very vocal about it on this forum). If you want to know what Poser 5's functions are, you can download the manual from the Curious Labs website. In my opinion, the renderer and material room are worth the extra money alone. The dynamic hair looks great but it does take a lot of render time. I haven't played with the cloth room and I was disappointed with the face room. If you are running Windows 98 or ME, don't bother with P5, in my experience, it can't handle memory well enough for P4 never mind P5. I run a Windows XP machine with 256MB memory and a Celeron 600MHz machine. My P5 scene limit would appear to be 3 figures ( A clothed Michael 3 with , his trenchcoat which I'm counting as a figure and Judy clothed plus a few props ). If you don't have a machine as good as or better than this, then I would not recomend P5, as I think I just get away with running P5 and I certainly cannot run any other major application at the same time. If you have a fast link, check my web site out for the results I get. Finally, you may want to wait a few more months to see what Daz Studio can do, this may be the new contender on the block, we're all waiting to see what it can and, more importantly, what it can't do. The trial version will be free, but I'm guessing that you want to get P4/5 for Xmas. Hope this helps you decide what to do, I know how difficult it can be deciding to buy software you haven't used.Thread: lengthen the time of animations | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
