ย Close to 12 years ago (released in 1997), a group of people lead by the late Rodney L'Ongion got together and using Bryce, created a full length movie called Planetary Traveller which you can find on Amazon.I think it took about 15 people because computers were slow then and it took forever to render. ย I myself did a short movie using Bryce a few years later and some frames took days to render. ย
So why should someone not do this with Vue ten years later? ย Its only possibly more difficult because CG animation is not new anymore and the standard bar has been raised very high by the likes of Pixar. ย
Expectations are extremely high. ย Difficult yes. ย Impossible....no.
I wonder what Philippe Bouyerย would have to say? ย He would be the one I would go to ask.

Thread: Ocean Waves for Vue 6? | Forum: Vue
ย #3 What kind of waves are we talking about? ย
Gentle little ocean swells? ย ...or giant rolling Hawaiian surf tubes?
Little ones are easy. ย Its the big surf and foam that we can't really do yet.

ย Hey, you asked....
Seavue is very cool but its for stills, not animation. ย So long as you dont' mind inanimate waves.
Maybe e-On will have a water surprise tomorrow at Siggraph?

ย Well, you could use Poser....(be sure to check out the videos)ย Although if Poser can do it, couldn't it be done better in Vue?
Thread: Big Rendering ? | Forum: Vue
ย I've been working on a large commercial poster using Vue and I create elements in Vue and composite in Photoshop. ย Even still, Photoshop files become HUGE!! ย But its much more manageable than attempting to do it all in one pass inside of Vue. ย I highly recommend this method.
Thread: Cornucopia copyrighted products question | Forum: Vue
ย If you don't want to use the installer and want to place items into folders of your choice, you must specify for each item and download individually. ย As long as you only purchased a few items its no problem. ย
OTOH, if you bought more than a few, well then.....I hope you have a LOT of time to download!
I suppose this is the price we must pay to deal with CP for each individual Vue item? ย What a tremendously inefficient system...enough so that I bought MODO to build my own stuff.
Major PITA IMHO...
Thread: First video tutorial.... | Forum: Vue
ย Thanks very much Monsoon! ย Excellent tutorial. ย It really helps to be able to watch and see what you're doing. ย Also, I'm glad its download and not streaming - because I'll be able to see it again when I need to and I can quickly scroll to the spot of interest.
Look forward to the next one!

ย In case anyone's interested, above is a link on how the animation was created.Thread: Can I do this in Vue? | Forum: Vue
Just thought it was a fun April 1st video with nice iceberg shots! ย Penguins would certainly be easier to composite from another 3d app.
And thanks for the tip on making a link. Unfortunately though, I can't edit my post anymore.
Thread: *******INCREDIBLE TEXTURE SALE********** a must see | Forum: Vue
ย I wonder if we bought the same one? ย The one I got were almost all tiles of tiles. ย The large size of the files was pointless on most of the textures as there was too much repetition. ย I would not recommend this
.
Thread: Does Vue 6 Infinite take advantage of multi-core processors for renders? | Forum: Vue
On my Mac Quad, Vue automatically renders on all four cores a little too well. It gets all four CPUs roasting at 100% and the fans start roaring like an F-16 jet ready for takeoff. I actually wish there were a way I could throttle it back at times to something less aggressive like setting the CPUs at 90% or something like that. Does anyone know of a way to do this? (Someone suggested the possibility of an app that idly consumes CPU resources but doesn't actually use them....? Any clues?) btw, this doesn't happen all of the time. Sometimes all four CPUs render along at 100% rather quietly so I'm not sure what causes the fans to kick in sometimes (radiosity?). Has anyone else experienced this?
