I render at 2 to 4 times the size and turn anti-aliasing OFF. It speeds up render times by as much as 75%. SInce I work mainly for print, having a sharp edge like that makes for easy wand selection, without the halos.
Thread: So How do you explain what we do in Poser to Muggles? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I learned a LONG time ago to never explain what I do, or how I do my illustrations. I just tell them I make cartoons like those Toy Story movies. Other artists ask me how a piece is done, I just refer them here to Renderosity. Never try to answer a layman's question directly, using industry terminology. It'll only make them feel like a rube and you'll come across as a smug.
Thread: Nothing for me anymore. ...not such a bad thing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had a buddy let me test drive V3 on his computer... UH-UH. NO WAY am I plunking down money for that thing. V2 and M2 looked much better, and didn't ramrod Poser. I could barely move V3 around in BOX PREVIEW, much less full tracking. This was on a P4 3ghz with 2 gig of ram. So I could imagine what it would do on my lower powered 450mhz G4. I'm like you: I went on a binge for V2 and Mikey, and now there's nothing being developed for them. THat's okay, tho. I'm moving to LW anyway.
Thread: New kid in town | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I absolutely DETEST Poser. I use it only because I have to. If there was an easy way to import Daz's figures into other apps like LW or C4D, I'd use them, instead. The last Poser upgrade (ver. 5) shows just how far the CL team has their heads stuck in their collective behinds. We've been asking for OpenGL support for YEARS now, plug-in frameworks and optional render-engines. P5 added a bunch of gook I'll never use, and bogged down what little pep P4 had. CL didn't listen, they plowed ahead and ignored a great many requested features...features that are commonly found in other, low priced packages. D|S has OpenGL, plug-ins, optional rendering engines (or at least, the ability to add them later) and the CPU overhead is a FRACTION of the stress Poser puts on a system. WIll I jump ship when D|S arrives? Absolutely!
Thread: Dumping Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm ready to dump Poser COMPLETELY! It's the slowest 3d app I own, can't even make use of OpenGL, nor can I load more than one good figure at a time into it. Scenes with V2 and Mikey? Forget it! I've got over 1gig of ram, and a 1ghz CPU pushing this clunky 1998 program around... If I could use my figures in LW without re-boning them, I'd just do that. Only reason I even keep P4 on my system anyway.
Thread: How do I make combined figures? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I tried a few ways with Mikey and his suit...no go. Too complex for me to bother with. I'll get me a CPU upgrade and stuff more ram into the machine! :-) Looks like if I want lower-poly figures, Ill just have to make my own.
Thread: How do I make combined figures? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
OK, so just hide what I don't want, export to OBJ (geez, that'd blow out all the morphs, wouldn't it?) then re-import to P4, parent it to the suit and off I go. I"ll give it a whirl!
Thread: How do I make combined figures? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A little elaboration: I have Mike 2, and the sci-fi suit. The suit is lower in the mesh count, thus reducing overhead and render-time. What I'd like to do is take Mikey's head, neck and hands (the only exposed body parts) and intergrate them into the skiffy suit as a new figure. How would I do that? I only have P4, not the Pro-Pack, and I"m on Mac, so -- UGH. Is this gonna involve CR2 editing? Or can the geometries be combined without losing bones/rigging and JPs?
Thread: So this is Daz Studio... | Forum: DAZ|Studio
(cough!) OpenGL (cough!) What more reason do you NEED to ditch Poser? Poser is the most sluggish, clumsy piece of crap of a program I've ever worked with. If I could easily import the Daz figures int C4D or LW, I'd use that instead. I only use Poser because I have to use Poser. Curious Labs is losing a customer once the D|S beta comes out.
Thread: Dork ...the final days ......... :-( | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Nah, man...you outta have the girls taking turns beating the snot out of Dork. Kinda funny tho, how I wind up using him more than Mike for posing. He works so much faster. UGLY as all get-out, tho... :-)
Thread: "Toon" lighting for Poser 4? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Nope, no toon lights. Can't find any for P4 (plenty for P5, tho...grrr!) Oh well, guess I'll just have to tweak, fiddle and burn up hours figuring it out. :-)

I can move and pose MUCH easier with the P2 interface than P4!! Cams, posing, lights...SO MUCH EASIER!! Thanks guys...
Thread: Big can of worms: re-organizing pose and figure libraries... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I went through and re-organized the whole thing. Much better. Thanks for the CM2 tip...I'll have to try that one out!
