You asked how to rename a material group. There is no such thing as a material group. There are things we call materials, and there are things we call polygon groups, and the grouping tool will let you make polygons belong to different polygon groups, and will let you assign a material to a set of polygons. The grouping tool will also let you create a new material, but not to delete or rename a material.

It's one map for the whole figure. I uvmapped in Wings and created the bodypart groups in P7.0 setup room.

my scene is in a cave.  a few flickering torches and a fire elemental facing off a telekinetic human. 

never been in this situation in real life, but would imagine light would bounce off the cave wall to softly backlight the human character.

geologically, the cave is strontium rock.

fastscatter on the elemental to simulate a glowing lightsource?
with an edge blend node to make the edges of the elemental orange-ier?

I don't see the smartprop dialog either. 

My props saved to the library don't remember their parenting.  I tried editing the prop file directly, typing over UNIVERSE with bodypart name. Didn't work.

The joint editor lets you change the xyz order.  maybe one of those other settings for the beads?

I was working on animating doors in a door frame last night. Rotate Y only, I wish.  It kept rotating across the axises.  I wish I could have slammed the door, it was aggravating.

I was thinking, for an angel fish, to make those flowing fin hairs, will the hair wiggle with the fish body, or will the hair stay straight while the fish is wiggling?
