That would be great. Unfortunately it must be extremely difficult, seeing how long time the big 3d packages have been around and how many renders people have made, but still hardly anyone of them have dynamic hair in them.
However found this one, which i think is just amazing - Gorilla
An nvidia is working on something as well, but seems to follow the rest of whats available out there, meaning its going to be just as difficult. But can always hope - Nvidia hair
But again they render and simulate very well, now if they just would make them easier to use :D
Thread: Dynamic hairs duplicate as 1 prop | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ok guys, I done suckered myself to learn how to make dynamic hairs (and it's fun lol),
Its looking fine, you are correct that it looks a bit like she is loosing hair :D but taking into consideration how difficult it is to work with, meaning not just slapping on the hair, but actually make it look like something is very hard, I tried it as well but gave up, tried in in 3ds max as well and its just as hard to make anything there as in Poser.
Wish someone could develop some easy to use dynamic hair software, not just for simulating hair, but to style is as well, but seems to me like there are not really any software out there able to do that.
Thread: Is Poser Dying? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Is Poser dying? for me it is, i have lost interest in 3d, I dont feel like updating or trying other software (Daz Studio... i tried it, i just dont get it, and yes its hard, gave me a headache), Blender, Wings, i gave those a shot too, didnt know what i was doing, heck i dont even know how to use Poser to the fullest... Fitting Room? uh? i dont get it, really... makes me upset, i have spent quite some cash with V4 stuff but thats enough. No more, i give up.
I think you put it well or at least to some degree. People that are interested in doing 3d will not find programs to do so, that are easier to use than Poser and Daz3d when it comes to using and posing characters. I think a lot give Poser a rough feedback, maybe worse than it deserve, but guess thats because they expect it to do more than it can or maybe they would like to do something that it just can. But as you write the alternative is to move to one of the other 3d packages and anyone that have tried one of these will agree that the learning curve, going from Poser/Daz3d to one of these is very steep. Its not a question of, if Poser/Daz3d doesn't cut it, then people will just move to one of these programs, like a switch can be made in a couple of weeks or so, it takes years of practice. And even if we leave those programs out, and people think that Daz3d might be better than poser in some areas, they will run into problems with that as well at some point.
There is a lot of talk about render engines and Iray being better etc etc. But I don't think im mistaken if anyone that make graphic doesn't spend a lot of time in PS afterwards to fix up there images, even if they are rendering in applications like 3ds max, maya etc. And there render engines are much better. Here is an example i did in 3ds max before PS and after.
Before PS:
After PS:
Looking at the actual render its pretty boring and flat. Fixing it up in PS certainly makes it more interesting. Im not a professional 3d artist or anything or claiming the image is extremely good, but simply to show that even if the initial render is not perfect you can do a lot using other programs like PS. I don't expect 3ds max to throw out a perfect looking image, i know I will have to fix it up in PS afterwards anyway.
And think people look at some of the renders other people make and if they can't get the same results straight out of Poser, then it must be because they were rendered in Daz3D, which give them "ammunition" to have a go at Poser and think that is a bit off. Even if Daz3D have a better render than Poser, nothing prevent you for manipulating the final image in PS or Gimp or whatever is preferred, everyone else does it as well. But of course Poser could be better, but again its very good at what it does, working with characters, cloth, posing, user friendly etc. But no one should expect it to throw out fantastic images just by changing some dials in the render settings i think.
Thread: Is Poser Dying? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't think Poser is dying and can be put somewhat simple i think, if it were the case that it were, the argument to support it when reading through the posts seems to be due to the genesis figures and there integration with Poser. If SM saw this as a problem and they should because it would be good for them to support them, but on the other hand, they could also just hire a very good character modeller to make a competing man and women and add it to Poser, then there wouldn't be much of a problem?
And its sad they don't because they keep including these very old characters in there releases and to be honest some of them are outdated, like the old animal characters etc.
But when that is said, I think the misplacement of whether poser is dying or not, comes when you say one software vs another, because most people that make CG use a large number of programs for different purposes. To me it would be equal to ask whether Daz is dying because now you have Zbrush and you can make any character in there you want and you could keep asking questions like that, but the fact is that these program serves different purposes. And in most cases you are better off using both of them if needed.
You will rarely in my opinion at least, see a very interesting image of just a good looking character posing for the camera, you need all the other stuff to make it worth looking at, to make viewers think, evoke emotions etc. You will of course see these character images but most of these that are interesting to look at, is because these are unique character created in Zbrush or something and the creator have made them interesting. But looking at image after of image of for instant Genesis characters is not very interesting i think.
One of the best things for SM to do for future Poser releases i think, would be to get it integrated with Vray, which are the most common used render in the industry as far as i know. They already have the amazing Powerfusion so if they could hook Poser up to Vray, it would be a huge improvement, the amount of free resources suddenly made available to Poser users would make it take a quantum leap and you would get Poser closer to a final stage of being completely integrated with the rest of the industry.
So don't think Poser is dying, but Poser on its own can not cut it and honestly not a lot of software packages can do that, even people using 3ds max will use, Zbrush, Photoshop and other after effect programs. People should be more concerned about what image they can get out in the end and less concerned about how and which software they use to get to that image .

I think it looks nice. The light gives a nice feeling, that this classroom is not a place of fun :D
Anyway here is my addition to your mini challenge. Now it have a bit of a different theme i guess and is actually not meant for this, but a room is a room i guess :D
It probably make little sense, so here is the actual image after PS etc, even though there is a person in it. So sorry for breaking the rules :D
Thread: PP2014 Maxing Out RAM | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sounds wierd your computer is pretty beast, at least compared to mine and i dont have any problems with poser. Its very common for me to run 3ds max, poser and PS at the same time and it works quite well. And i only have 8GB memory and an i5 and PS reserve X amount of memory so not a lot left.
How many objects do you have in your scene, when it starts to slow down?
Thread: indexing in progress | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Not that i know how to fix it, but i have the exact opposite experience, Poser 11 library seems way faster than the old one and the annoying "You want to move folder is gone as well" :D
But have you tried to check the preferences, there are some stuff in there about the library you can try to change and see if that helps?

Wow, yeah, vendors don't listen to your customers, or potential customers.
Listen to a small, but vocal vendor for the competition. That will help this forum and community.
Right DesignAnvil/Razor42?
There might be some truth to this, but think its a simplified version. Not all vendors are able or desire certain content. For instant i would like to be able to make different characters and sell them, have loads of ideas, so that's not the problem. But creating high quality models that can compete with the current ones is not easy, i currently don't have those skills, so even if i wanted to do it. I know it wouldn't end well, also there is a lot of rigging, texturing and so on. It takes a lot of time to create content and as vendor you can't spend to much time screwing around on things which have no potential. So all vendors will most likely reach there limit at some point. Some times I think people make it sound like vendors can just nap there fingers and create a crazy looking alien model like it was nothing, but they choose not to do it, because they don't care about potential customers or they ran out of ideas. Its just not that simple.
Another side to it is that you might risk spending X amount of time creating a product, for instant lets say for the "Poser 8 dog", but if that is not a popular model your product won't sell either, so you ended up wasting a lot of time. Now this might be ok, if it weren't for the fact that a product will go clearance if it haven't sold in 3 month, so even if you as vendor think a product would be good just for a few people, its not really beneficial or very desired to see a product that you made, well knowing its not going to be a "Top" product end it days on clearance, not because it might not be a good product that would have interested for few people once in a while, but simply because it doesn't sell as much as Renderosity need/want it to.
So you also have to take that into consideration, so I honestly don't think its because vendors don't listen to the community or wouldn't like to make stuff that is only relevant for a minority of people. But the time to make an item that aim towards the minority, doesn't equal that its faster to make than something that is not. So how much time will you spend on something that potentially could end up on clearance in 4-5 month with very poor sale numbers? Now if items did not go on clearance then i think you would see more varied products, because the vendor wouldn't have to be as concerned about there products as they are now.
Anyway, thats just my view on it as a vendor, its just a bit discouraging that we are being pointed out as not caring about what people say, its just not that simple.

Love the floor, reflections are always good :D
I hope its ok, but if i could make some suggestions if you are still working on the scene. The background seems a bit stretch so i tried to replace it with a more detailed sky map.
Also a good idea i think, would be to break the straight line outside the door, the area which i marked with red. Meaning throw in some benches maybe some flowers etc. Just so you don't get a straight line between the sky and the floor. Think that could really spice it up and you would get a nice feeling of something happening inside but also outside.
The map i used for the sky I just added in PS, so it would look better when rendered i think and i added some noise etc to match your render. But its actually part of a high quality HDRI package with 10 different sky maps, that you can download for free from here, if you need some: http://www.viz-people.com/portfolio/free-hdri-maps/
But think you can get a really nice image out of it.

Hi Boni
Im not really sure what you mean or what you want input about? Don't get me wrong everything that makes a forum more exciting is a good thing But not sure if you want input regarding those four points?
Because they don't seem like something that you can wish for or what to say. If vendors don't make stuff for the Genesis 3 figure, what can you do then? I can only speak for my self of course and why i only make stuff for V4/M4 compared to the genesis figures, at least for now. Which is because i find them to be very slow and somewhat painful to work with, I don't have the best computer in the world and V4/M4 are in my opinion very good characters both to work with and quality wise and suit my needs perfect, so personally i see little reason to upgrade them, guess this answers point 2 as well
Point 3 and 4 again if people don't ask or someone post about it, there is not a lot you can do, i guess.
But maybe i misunderstood you intention with the post?
Sorry if that's the case
Thread: The Signal an interactive story (Help needed) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Got a good question from Ambientshade that I thought i would share here with his permission, so thanks for that :)
"This looks great. I've been looking for something like this for a while. When do you think it will be available? I have several ideas for what I could do with it. Was reading your thread on the program itself and tried out the demo. Looking good. Will it handle layered videos rendered in green screen or with transparencies? If so maybe that's a way to add interactive animations." from Ambientshade
Regarding the transparency in videos, I looked a bit into this and it seems to not be an easy task in general when working with videos and since the program uses primarily the .Webm format it depends on whether this can do it or not. But from what i can figure out it should be possible, but its not that easy it seems. But there seem to be a great demand for this in general around web, so hopefully it will be made easy/easier at some point.
However it is possible to fake interactive animations in the program and instead of just saying it is possible, i made a small video showing how it could be done.
Regards 3D-Mobster .
Thread: Where did it all go wrong? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Maybe i have a different view on this or maybe looking the wrong places. But since i haven't spend a lot of time in the galleries i decided to take a look and see what all this "sexual" disturbance was all about. Besides there being some very well made stuff there, i don't see what all the fuzz is about, There are images everywhere from landscapes to toilets and rockets etc. But only very few images that seem to contain "sexual" content to me. Am i looking the wrong place, because i don't see it. Can someone link some stuff that they consider over the edge or tell me if im looking the wrong place?
Thread: Where did it all go wrong? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think what surprises me the most and least to put it weirdly, is that people gets so worked up about it. I do agree that purely pornographic content doesn't belong on a site like this. But suggestive content just doesn't make me angry, i think i would be more amazed if there was nothing of the sort. What i mean by that is that no matter where you look today, you have music videos with people wearing hardly anything and sometimes nothing at all, like that girl on the ball, Miley Cirus or something. You have TV shows where the whole concept is to view drunk and half naked people, with the hope from the producers side that with all the alcohol etc. these people will loose control so they can make some money on cheap entertainment. The whole society (Depending on where you are from ofc) is filled with these things. So why anyone would think or assume that there were nothing like that on a website where people can post art and stuff they have made, is surprising to me. At least to me if people aim at expression themselves through there work and it involves suggestive content, it shouldn't just be written off as some garbage, it can be very elegant made, and its still a hell lot better than any reality TV or music videos which only purpose is to make money and in the process "sell" the people as sexual objects which remove some of craftsmanship that these artists after all have. Madonna already "shocked" the world back in the days, now its just normal :D
Thread: Where did it all go wrong? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't look that much in the gallery, but do agree that there are lots of half nude picture and "sexual" content available. But personally i don't mind that much, its all expression in my opinion. I used to do a lot of classical drawing and doing that it is very common that you draw nude people and a single drawing can take between 1-6+ hours. At first you have to get used to it as it can be a bit strange if you ain't. But its part of learning to draw humans, emotions, motion, weight, proportions etc . I doubt you will find a lot of very skilled artists that don't do croquis or have studied some sort of classic art etc. Its quite normal for anyone studying art. Why wouldn't people complain about all the famous artist, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rubens etc. loads of there art is fully naked people, babies. People getting tortured etc. If art doesn't push people or make them think, enjoy, despise or reflect about it, whats the purpose then?
To me at least art is art and we all like different types. but in the end, the most important thing is that they make people react, if people didn't. Art would be dead a long time ago. :)
And regardless of nudity, would anyone complain about Leonardo da Vinci or Michelangelo for making so many nude drawings and statues? At least i wont, they are absolutely amazing pieces of art. Anyway just my opinion :D

Since most of the focus so far have been on still images, this one will be about the movie object, subtitles and how movies can interact with other triggers and how itself can work as one.
These are added the same way as images, image counters and audio files. When you add a movie you will get an empty movie holder and by pressing the "Load movie" button you can select one from your computer. All movies files need to be in .webm format to reduce size since they are loaded on the fly. So I found a movie of a bird eating some food which original size is 486 mb 1920x1080 and after converting the file its now 31 mb. The video in the screenshots have been resized, but the original is still 1920x1080 so could be scaled even further if needed. Working with movies are very easy, for instant holding down "T" with the mouse cursor above a movie clip allow you to scroll through it at the "Step" interval chosen in the toolbox by scrolling the mouse wheel.
By default a movie will always be paused and invisible in the player. But can be activated through a trigger such as a "On page start" which will make it start the moment the page is shown, an audio file or as in this example through a "Click" trigger.
To avoid having to move everything around individually, text objects can be linked to other objects such as a movie clip. So when the movie is moved the text will move with it. Which is simply done by clicking the "link to" button and choose the object it should be linked to.
Before a subtitle can be used it need to be activated in the movie object, this is done by clicking the checkbox "Use subtitles" after that a menu will show up. Here its possible to choose which text object should be used as subtitle and is done the same way as everything else. Simply by point and click.
These are added at a given time, so as you scroll through the movie you can see at what time a certain subtitle will show and these will appear until another subtitle overwrites it. So in this example the first subtitle will show 6 seconds into the movie and last until 12 second where the next one takes over and so forth. The background color of the text object only appear to be far wider than the text is in the editor, in the player the background will match the width of the actual text. So this is only so its easier when working with the object in the editor.
How images and movies overlap each other can be control through there Z-order, the higher the Z-order the more dominant the object. This allow for images to be placed on top of movies and vice versa. In this example i have added a window frame around the movie. This also allow for making animated background for menus and mix animation into for example a comic book.
As with a "Click" trigger the movie can also be used as a trigger and will occur when the movie is done playing. Therefore one movie can be used to trigger another one, an audio file or in this example a page change. Which of course is useful if you want to make a introduction, credits or a fighting scene and so on.
