If you promise not to tell anyone... Vicky and Mike were pulled from the store because DAZ is ready to release their "killer app" that will put Poser to shame. (They claim it's still "in development", but this is only to throw people off the trail so we don't start begging them and cause them to release a buggy program just to keep up quiet.) In fact, their product, code-named "PosaPerson", will also include a "Dream Products" section (basically a working "Content Paradise"). This will be the only place where you can purchase DAZ prodocts, including, Vicky, Mike, and their upcoming super-real figures, code-named "Barbie" and "Ken" (note: due to obvious legal reasons, these names will be changed in the final product). They will also be releasing a super-realistic soldier-type male figure, code-named "Joe". There will be a new models in the "Dream Products" line, including a house and a car. I probably shouldn't mention this, but there is also gossip, rumor, speculation, and heresay that DAZ will be buying Renderosity. But, you didn't hear that from me, and the powers-that-be will deny it all day long. I can't offer any proof of this because, if they knew I had it, they would hunt me down (or worse, ban me!).

Is it me or does this message sound fishy? You're using "Poser 5" and you know enough to get it to render, yet you don't know how to go to File, then Export, then Image or hit Ctrl-S to save? Of course, this is also covered in the manual. Here are some other commands you may find useful: To open a Poser file (.pz3 file): go to File, then Open. To quit Poser, go to File, then Exit.

The "Not Relevant" check could also be used when people post messages that have nothing do to with Poser in the Poser Forum, such as the "show this website to your friends" or "how do I do this in HTML". Can we move the OT posts to the OT forum where they belong? But, yes, there should be a better classification system- too many times the sibject doesn't cut it. When someone says "Help with mat poses"- are they asking how to create one, how to use one, or what they are, or what? (Read the message and find out)

They are doing a better job of cleanup and repair They have a reputation to recover, so they start up a forum where people can help test it. Damage control? Good PR? Helpful company? You decide. I live in the U.S. and as far as I know we still have freedom of speech here. Yes, in public, you can say whatever you want. However, the last I looked, this is a private site, owned at operated by individuals. Therefore, they set the rules about what can and can not be said here. They have every right to censor the posts for whatever reasons they see fit. If they want to change the TOS to say that badmouthing CL or Poser is a bann-able offense, then can.

And now I'm expected to download and TEST beta SR2??? No, no, no. You are expected to PURCHASE Poser 5 (for some of us, at full retail price), then you can download the free SR2 and be a beta-tester. So, yes, you are expected to pay for the privledge of beta-testing the latest version.

Is CL even looking at fixing issues that have been around since P4? From what I've seen, they seem to be concerned about adding new features and then trying to fix whatever the new feature broke. Maybe the memory usage (and multiple levels of Undo and a better interface and... ) will be included in Poser 6.

Since I paid for a "full" version of the program, can I get my money back since I'm using a "beta" version? In fact, if I'm "beta-testing" the program, I would like to be compensated for the time it takes me to find bug not found by the CL "testing" and "Quality Assurance" departments (if they even have those, which I doubt they do). Doesn't anyone else feel that this is wrong. CL is saying, "Here's our software. Please buy the full version for $350.00. Thank you for your purchase. Now, test it for us. If it crashes, you can't get your money back because your opened the seal. We may fix your issues in a future Service Patch (that may or may not need testing of its own). Or we may add new features instead of fixing bugs. Normally, companies pay people to test their software, but since we need the money, we need you to pay us for the "priviledge" of testing Poser 5. Neat, huh?" I guess I missed the fine print on the back of the CD: "By installing this software, you agree to be a tester for us. We don't know if this software will actually work on your machine or not. We think it will, but since we really didn't it test it that well, we honestly don't know. We wanted to test it more, really we did, but we needed the money, so we didn't." I agree with Poppi- Poser 5 is going on the shelves until this bulls---t is over.

We get volumetric lights and fog? Yes this is a cool fetaure, but it still seems like a pretty cover on a broken-down package. Yet again, CL distracts us with some amazing "development" shots so we don't ask questions about the more serious issues. How about multiple levels of real, working UNDO and REDO? How about a history palette like Photoshop? How about a real user interface and not the "cutsey" hands and "trackball"? How about actual placement of lights (instead of on a "globe")? How about characters with full body morphs that are as advanced as Vicky & Mike? How about a standardized naming system to all the objects? If we can't get Poser 5 to work on our PC, can we get a full refund? Will CL continue to use the Interlock system even though so many people have complained about it? Why do we have to pay money for a product and then be a "public beta-tester"? If I am beta-testing a product, I am not going to pay hundreds of dollars for it! Does everyone remember the "California Dreaming" post by kupa? "Wow" "Amazing" "Release Poser 5 now". And he failed to tell us that those shots were made on a development copy of Poser 5 by the programmers who knew what to do to not crash the program. And what happened when the public started using it? I want to see more bug fixes and more issue-resolution than new features! What good is "volumetric fog" if I can't get past the registration process because of an XML parsing error or I get a C+ violation error when adding an object to the scene?

At least my version of XP Pro didn't crash when I clicked in the wrong place (morphing a head in the Face Room). At least my version of XP Pro didn't have a section called "Content Paradise" (that was advertised on the box!)that led to a "Coming Soon" website. At least the keyboard shortcuts keys work the same in Win XP as they do in Win 2000. In Poser 5, you have to play with the "focus" to get the keyboard shortcut keys to respond. Win XP has multiple levels of Undo... Poser (don't hold your breath). Win XP has the ability to take advantage of your video card drivers for increased graphics... Poser (don't hold your breath). Win XP has to deal with the numerous issues of networking, system resources, protocols, hardware, allowing programs to run, etc. Poser 5 has to render an image... hmmm... And did Microsoft release a SR1 patch within a month of XP's release to the public... that addressed 81 KNOWN issues... issues known to the company yet were not fixed in time for the "final" release? (Of course SR1 for Poser 5 had it's own bugs and was recalled that day. Technically, they are on SR1.1.) But, yes, comparing a 3D application and an entire operating system is completely unfair.

Some people had a hard time riding the horse out of the stable due to the new owner's lock. You see, even though the owner gave keys to the riders, some keys were bent and some were the wrong size for the opening. And, when some people tried to sit on the horse's new blanket, the horse would fall over. Some people could sit on the blanket fine, but for most people, the horse fell over. When riders complained about the horse falling over, other riders simply said that it was the rider's own fault: they didn't know this "new" horse or they didn't know how to ride it "correctly". Some people tried to push the horse and see how fast he could go. But, it seems the new shoes and sleeker saddle actually slowed down the horse! Only by removing these new options were people able to get the horse back up to its regular speed. And some people tried to look under the new blanket, only to discover the same bumps and sores as before. The loyal fans asked why the new owner didn't give the horse some medicine to fix the sore spots... especially before covering him with a brand-new blanket! Other people wondered why the new owners didn't just put the horse out to stud and build the new stables around the horse's son (same bloodline, same lineage, but younger, newer, better, and without the father's aging problems).

Just another thought: Why is egisys doing this survey? Have they realized that CL f---ed up the release of P5? Have they heard how many people are complaining about the bugginess of P5? Are they planning on doing something with CL and/ or Poser? When will SR4 for Poser 5 be released? They need to start working on fixing all the bugs they know aren't fixed in (or caused by) SR2 and SR3.

1: After all the negative publicity that Poser 5 is getting, is this prixe really motivating people to fill ou the form? I'll fill out if only to complain about the software and maybe win the high end PC so I can Poser 4 on it. 2: Why do they have to be "fancy"? Just use simple the HTML "post form" command and be done with it. There is no need to fire up an e-mail client or use Outlook to send an e-mail. Okay, then people, start complaining about how egisys and CL are taking control of your computer...

I heard that they are working on releasing SR3 this weekend. It fixes all the known bugs which will be in SR2, which will be released next week. Let's see, 2 patches a month... by Decemember, we'll be at SR6... for a product that should never have shipped in the condition that it's in.
