Wow. This image rocks! Great use of color, texture and depth. It does indeed seem to jump right off the page towards you!
So what I'd like to know........is what are they leaning in so close to talk about? ;-)

I agree with the suggestion to tone down the red a bit. I think if you do, the images and details will show up better. But overall chohole, I do very much like your render. You've done a great job with the layout of the scene and for me, it does create an image that beckons to the world beyond. Really nice and I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Although I agree about the specularity and clouds ( a slight toning down and tweak), I had to stop by to add a comment.
tuttle, this image has amazing power and emotion emminating from it! You really have captured quite a remarkable moment in time. Everytime I view it, I find myself noticing another detail. All of it adds up to an extraordinary image I look forward to seeing upon its completion.
Thanks for posting this!

My thanks to both hewsan and tuttle for encouraging me to post a render. That really meant a great deal to me and did make me feel much more encouraged to do so!
You both get a (((hug))) for taking the time to address my fears and I'll work on mustering up my courage!

As a newbie to Bryce, I rely alot on free stuff until such a time when I can make my own. ;-) At least by importing these objects, , I can fill out my scene while learning about placement and bettering my mat lab and DTE skills as I tweak the textures of said freebies.
If any of you care to hear from a lowly n00b, this is the main reason I have never posted a render here. I feel extremely intimidated. So instead, I choose to mostly lurk, read the posts, and view the gallery and challenges. I do learn by viewing and trying to grasp how an artist created a particular effect. But I wish there was more room here for newbies. I'm not saying that all of you turn away newbies who truly aspire to learn. There are people here who do seem to enjoy passing on their knowledge. But it is hard for those of us who are trying to get up the courage to post an image in hopes of receiving helpful feedback.
And yes, I do know some newbies post their work here and have no problem doing so. But for me, after reading some of what I have here, it makes it difficult for me to do so.
I mean no offense to anyone by what I have said. I just thought maybe someone would be interested in hearing what it's like, lurking on the outside while looking in at all the incredible images you experienced types create.
Maybe one of these days I'll give it a go. I do know I could learn by what you have to say. But it is hard to do so, when you read some of what you posted above.

Thread: Just my thoughts on the contest and the artists... | Forum: Bryce
Wow, what a thread.
Being a n00b, I don't usually post much because I don't yet feel I have much to contribute except to ask questions to better refine my skills and learn.
Many here, have already stated what I find communities such as this, to be about: a support system offering each of us the opportunity to grow and learn as artists without threat for our choices in how we bring our visions into being. If you receive feedback in any form, whether positive or critique, be grateful. Grateful that someone took the time - that someone at least noticed your work and imparted their take, be it good or bad. The one caveat is to have the maturity to utilize some tact in how you impart your comments. This is key. I also agree with Colette's very wise words above. If you are going to critique a piece, at least offer up some advice for the artist to ponder in order to improve. Each of us then gains an opportunity to both grow and learn as artists.
Not everyone here garners this opportunity, so when it happens, treat it as a gift, accepting it in the spirit it was given, which hopefully includes a modicum of tact. Then use that impetus to move on to your next piece of work while harboring the support this group offers as inspiration.
Since I can't add much to what's already been stated so well, I'll leave you with a little something:
It is a moment -- a lifetime -- when thoughts intertwine and braid themselves into strengthening ropes of hope and vision. A hand reaching out ...
Peace.

Aww the heck with it. I just sent her a PM myself. I'd like to know if she has another sight since the other link is now dead. I also asked her if she may ever be offering a Mac version of this mat.
I'll let you know if I hear anything and I also gave her the link to this thread.

Oh rats. WyndWalker's mat is for PC only. But I'm sure others here will be able to use it. And I too have been trying to create this effect, so thanks to everyone who offered such great ideas and instruction.
