Something I did once: Morph the item to be planar, UV map the morphed part, then copy the UV coordinates into the original.

But does the prop/figure/hair/etc. load OK? If so, the shrugging man is no problem! Just re-save the item to the library (using the same name if you wish, to replace the old one): a NEW thumbnail will be created and replace the shrugging man. Now, what could be going wrong in the first place. You get, say a PP2 file and a like-named RSR file? You drag them both to Macoonverter? You let Maconverter do its thing? Afterward the RSR file is no longer there? The thumbnail contained in the RSR file has been converted to the same thumbnail in the resource fork of your PP2 file. If you do all of this, you should NOT get the shrugging man.

How big are your TIF's? Bigger ones are less pixelly. Also, after you render they will get better.
