I agree, I have rendered the scenes that HowieFarkes has put together for Carrara and they are fairly complex with items. There are some in his gallery that are pretty large.
His Gallery at cgsociety http://howiefarkes.cgsociety.org/gallery/
His Gallery on his own page http://howiefarkes.com/#_images/gallery/
This one was interesting

Another thing to try out is dream-lounge.com
They have some free light sets and a couple of free tutorials. However its worth joining for the in depth tutorials

I don't believe your SN is tied to mac or pc, you should be able to switch to the mac one. Just reset your download and grab all the files for the mac version. Also they said in the forums on daz that C7 is coming along. I don't remember off hand the timeframe though.

Thats great about getting back into this.
I would recommend that you try Dream Lights tutorials. You can look at the first two for free, and even just sign up for a month to get everything, but there is a lot if you keep it going. Also right now they are having a 50% off sale on the membership.

To see a list of the tutorials you get I believe you can go here. About half way down the list you will see "Daz Studio for the Beginners" part one and two that you can get for free. (they are up to 12 videos in that series now).

You can also can get a free Light Dome for Daz Studio as well.
Hope that helps

Google seems to becoming more the evil day by day.. I am trying out Cuil (cuil.com) its made by the lady who developed a lot of the algorithm that google uses and has something new she says. Not sure if its the 'one' at least for now going to spread things a bit.

Thread: Incomplete shaders on Victoria 4? | Forum: Carrara
Victoria is Poser/DazStudio content product just install it into your regular runtime. Then in Carrara make sure you have added that runtime to the Content tab of the object browser. You have to add the Carrara specific shaders to her. There is a tutorial to save all the shader steps into just one, as well as what shaders to use for V4.
I have in mine for example I use an external runtime for just about everything. There are some things that DazStudio ships with. So I added both those runtimes to Carrara. I also have a temp runtime that I test things with and can wipe completely.

Saving the shading domains to one drag item (works for many objects).

You can copy the poser.exe stub that is in the DazStudio directory (its to fool installers BTW) into any other runtimes for when poser is required, however by selecting dazstudio you are getting everything you needed. Make sure you run the update victoria that shows up on your desktop, and have only one installed.
