I downloaded and installed the candelabra without problems, but I did ask not to have an installer. Then it will work in both V5 and V5I. Christie, installers are loathed by many (if not most) people because it takes control away from the user. Daz get criticised for this quite often. Could I suggest you make the straightforward .zip the default, not the installer? Steve

Very nice tutorial. One thing to add: you mention that you can modify the material in two ways. There's also a third way which might prove very useful, and that's to use a clipping filter in the color production area. By starting off clipping, say, all above 10%, then progressing right through successive frames to clip all below 90%, you could animate a tree turning from green to yellow very easily. There's a (very) short .avi for download at the link which shows what I mean - it's about 3Mb long, if you are on dialup.

I must admit my experience with eF has been good. I emailed them a tech support question (using the form on the eF site) on Saturday and got a very detailed response Monday - pretty slick really. Maybe it differs whether you are looking for tech support or sales support?

It might be possible to do this using the batch processor in PS. You would need to write an action to load, resize, and save each image, then run it via the batch processor, which has a checkbox for 'include subfolders' - so you can process an entire directory tree.

Ben must have had mesh originally because there seem to be morphs listed in the cr2. If you look at the mesh in a modeller though, there are no polygons. So I guess he lost the family jewels somewhere along the road to publication. (Edit) Just read Francr's latest - you can turn on James' bits by finding 'genital' in the body parts list and setting it to visible in the properties window.

Agree with you, Xeno. I have installed some updates but not the latest ones as I always wait and see what happens when more adventurous people do! As for the store... I guess I'll use the voucher - no reason not to - but I won't buy anything that's encrypted. Don't need that hassle as a hobbyist... wouldn't tolerate it if I was doing this profesionally.

My Asus mobo came with a temperature monitoring utility that recommended setting warning levels at 60C for the CPU and 50C for the mainboard. It usually runs at about 32-33C for both but once during hot weather and a big render they both went over 40C. Could really hear the fans going!

Thread: Encryption of files is a BAD idea for everyone | Forum: Vue
Just spotted this over at the Cornucopia support page, had to laugh:
"Why is Vue content copy-protected?
High-level encryption technologies are used to ensure that you, the legitimate customer, don't have to carry the burden of software piracy. Copy-protection is not applicable to "generic" format content."
No, it's so e-on doesn't have to carry the burden - the legitimate customer does, in the form of limited usability.
"Do I have to worry about copy protection?
No. You won't even notice that your Vue-content is copy-protected."
Sorry e-on, but a lot of people just noticed...

Just joining everyone else who will not buy from the store while the encryption is active. It's stupid. None of the objects supplied with Vue itself are like this, so why should the extra stuff we would happily shop for?

I'm sure you guys know this already, but Sedlec is heavily featured in John Connolly's latest novel 'The Black Angel' which is well worth a read if you haven't done so.
