Ok, I know that this is not the answer you are going to be looking for but it's the best I can do. I am not sure how to add your own textures to the gallery thing in bryce so you can call them up easily. It looks to me like they are stored as .shd or .tex files. But if you want to, you can import textures that are stored as .tif or .bpm files and apply them to any kind of object including the ground plane. I found this out from a tutorial on applying a texture to a poser figure in Bryce, but you can do it to any object. The URL for the tutorial is http://www.stewstras.net/baument/images/posertexture1.htm You of course will need to ignore the first part about making the model and importing it into Bryce, but just start where the pic of the material lab is. Also, where it tells you to import the poser texture, just import the pic you want to. I have done this MANY times. I have found that pics of things like wood planks and and concrete and stuff like that make alot better tectures than the ones already in Bryce. I use them alot on things like the floor and buildings etc. I hope this helps. Autoloader autoloader@hotmail.com

I like the pic. The hair is great. But there something about the skin, it looks bumpy to me. I would use a smooth texture or remove the bump map if you used one. But then that's just my opinion.

Diane Great pic. ~smile~ My hat's off to you. You mentioned the render time, but how long did it take you to put it all together. I am guessing this was a long project. Autoloader

No problem Rob, glad I could help. ~smile~ And thank you for the compliment, I really appreciate it.

I don't understand that you mean by "how I can create rain coming down in the water in the image", but here is a rain tutorial that might help. http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Program/3093/tutor/bryce/rain.html I did a pic with a lady standing in the rain. There is a rain texture in Bryce 3D, all you have to do is create a volume figure and make it big enough to cover the camera veiw, then apply the rain texture to it. You can see what I mean here. http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Palais/7193/water.jpg I hope this helps.

I agree. As I was uploading the pic I thought the same thing about the glass and bottle. And maybe sometime I will do that. As Clint and I were talking about a while back, I haven't had time to do much over the last couple of months so I'm just posting older pics to keep the forum going. I agree with you also about this place having the best Poser/Bryce forums. It is far the best site I have found. They folks here have done a great job, and the people who visit here for the most part are really friendly and extremely helpful. What exactly do you mean by "otherworldly images"? Hell I may have some of those too. ~laugh~ I have done alot of different types of pics with Bryce and Poser/Bryce.

FINALLY!!!! ~laugh~ I knew the darned thing was out there somewhere, it just took me a while to weed through all my daggone bookmarks. To do this one you have to have photoshop, if you don't send me an e-mail and I will do that part for you and send you back the image to use. I hope this is what you were looking for http://www.halcyon.com/alrives/brycetips/tips/tip14.html Autoloader

I don't know about the tornado that was previously posted, but I do remember seeing a tutorial somewhere on how to build you own. I have been looking for it for you but for the life of me I can't find it. If I do find it I will post you a link to it. If any of you happen to remember this tutorial too and remember where it's at, please post it.

I like it. I really like the haze in the background around the mountains and the sunlight coming in low and from the right. Reminds me of a cool summer morning. I also like the way you have the mountain range coming in at an angle instead of just straight across. Good job.

Don't mention it. I have gotten a ton of help from other people here and am just trying to give back a little. Autoloader

Now, how to go about actually using a background as a texture. After you have found a background that you think will make a good texture just save it on your hard drive someplace. More than likely the background you save will be in a .jpg or .gif format because those are the prefered file formats for webpage backgrounds, so you will need to convert it to either a .bmp or .tif file if you are using Bryce 3D (I'm not sure if Bryce 4 can use other file formats because I don't have it, so you may not have to convert it). Now go into Bryce and make your wall or import your model or select the ground plane, and select the texture just like you would on a Poser model as described in Peter Sharpe or Ed Baumgarten's tutorials on the subject. If you don't already know how to do this I know that there is a link to Baumgarten's site on the right side of this page, check it out. After you have imported the texture you can go to the texture editor and adjust the size by playing with the scale control and the way the texture lays by playing with the rotate control. Now just apply the texture and render your scene, that's it. I know that this tip is a bit long winded for such an easy application but I wanted to make sure that even the most novice might be able to understand what I am talking about. If any of you still need any help, don't hesitate to drop me an e-mail at autoloader@hotmail.com and I will see if I can answer your questions. I hope this has helped some of you out and that you find some use from this. Have a great day ya'll. Autoloader

Great pic. If you had not said what you were doing I would have thought it was totally just a scan of a real pic. The water looks so real and the reflection of the image. You have opened my eyes to a new concept. Good job.
