We set up a LAN through a Linux box. The PC and Mac both can log into the linux box via an ethernet hub and then we just copy files across. It's also our firewall for DSL service.

I haven't noticed any changes in the gamma settings. The only thing that I noticed was the memory allocation being reset to default settings.

If you are using a mac, click on the Bryce application icon. Type command I to get information on the application. If you are running system 8 or higher, use the pull down menu in the popup window to go to memory. (older systems, the memory info will be in the popup window--just change your settings) Change your memory settings (but remember to allow enough for the system). You can give Bryce more memory than you actually have if you have virtual memory turned on. If you are on a PC, don't worry. It will take what it needs.

I mostly do interiors. If you put 3 walls up and a ceiling, you will block out the sunlight. Read my custom skies tutorial at http://www.bryce4all.com/tutorials.htm . The same default dark setting will not necessarily give you the mood lighting you'll want for a good interior. The custom sky method is your best way, IMHO, to control the pallette of your project.

I had no trouble last night. I took the .hqx version. I updated from 4.01 to 4.1. The only problem I had was that the updater reset my memory allocations to 32 mg from 100 mg. So Bryce was slow and and unstable until I figured out what had changed. I'm on a first generation G3 running 0S 9.

Click the sun to make it a moon (to make it night time) and then make the moon color a dark gray.
Thread: Where Can I Find Mac OS8 Folder Icons For Poser4 and Bryce4 | Forum: Bryce
Click on the icon you want to use -- do a get info on it (Command I). Click on the icon in the info window. Copy it (Command C). Either paste it directly onto the icon of Bryce or Photoshop or paste it first into the graphics program of your choice. Add in the Bryce or Poser logo. Then copy and paste the changed icon onto the icon in the Get Info window of either Bryce or Poser.

I don't use the spot lights much in Bryce. I prefer the radial lights. They work better for mood lighting. Sarah
Thread: Adding Transparency? | Forum: Bryce
To make a ghost in Bryce, it is easiest, IMHO, to render your figure in Poser against a black background. Then import the rendered image into Bryce as a 2D image and use the black background as an alpha channel. Then set the transparency to the imported image. You can see an example of a ghost I made using this method at: http://www.pussreboots.pair.com/art/stmikes5image3.jpg Sarah

Also, in the Bryce Freebies section here at Renderosity, I have a water material called soap bubble. If you applied it to your droplets, it would give a nice rainbow affect. You might have to tweak the material some to suit your needs.
