Yes I have CD burner and I have a few things on CD, but if you need to backup gigabytes of data (only my vue scenes -finished and "in progres" were about 3 GB) its faster and easier use secondary disc. I had 30GB IBM which I used as removable backup disc for main 80GB Barracuda IV. Unfortunatelly, when this happened, both disc were inserted in PC.
Btw, power supply was from Morex (http://www.morex.cz/case.php?id=43)
Now I think about UPS :)

By my experiences, very important are materials. I had one scene with mirror walls and a lot of high reflective materials. I tried ultra settings and estimated time was 6 days for 1024768 render !!! Also, if you have volumetric atmosphere, a lot of lights, glass materials etc., everything dramatically increases render time. BTW, last week I made my biggest render (Still life image from my gallery) 124009400 pixels at 300 DPI :) It took 16 hours in final mode on Athlon 1800XP and 256 MB RAM.

I have some models in 3dmf format. I used 3D Exploration for conversion (now its called Deep exploration, I think). But its commercial software. look at: www.righthemisphere.com

This happened to me, when I placed some objects into the sphere. Try this: Check material of your building and in transparency tab set fading to clear (move slider left, i.e. to 0%). This is not editable unless you set transparency to 1% and higher, but then you set transp. back to 0% and you will see. This could help you.

Do you have GeForce card? The same thing happened to me in Windows XP with my GeForce2 MX. Every version of drivers except default drivers contained in XP installation did the same result. So I run with old drivers directly from Windows and everything is OK.
But its interesting that with older version of Vue was everything OK. Hmmm...

For me everything is clear, but as you know, I created a few atmospheres with bitmap material for clouds. They are in freestuff too. I would like to know, if someone creates that type of atmosphere, it will be against the rules, or not? Because it IS atmosphere (can be saved as .atm file) theres only unusual material used. I think, it would be good to say exactly "use just procedural materials - functions for clouds or so...
Just my 2 cents...
