Thread: embed message in pz3 to retrieve via batch render script... | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
svdl, thanks for your thoughts.
i would like to embed a message during the scene creation if possible. maybe there is a property that i am not using that i could use for this purpose. any ideas on that?
i have started compressing all my files so they are difficult to edit. i can put the info in the name of the file itself, but it would be more object oriented if it were a property of the scene.
Thread: can i render poser7 scenes in poser6? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
thanks for the input, ockham and bopperthijs.
i have options to get around the potential poserpython problems and what i am doing is simple.
the problem is not the $2.29 but the $49.95 to get a passport membership. however, they said that i can but multiple copies.
i have multiple computers and methods for them to talk to each other. i should be able to do some serious damage. i grew up in the country and have wanted a render farm ever since i first heard about it.

what do you mean by network render?
if you mean multiple computers working on the same image, you'll have to wait for poser pro.
there will be overhead involved, so 2 computers won't render twice as fast.
however, spreading multiple renders over multiple computers just got real easy since content paradise is offering poser 6 for $2.29 each for passport members. having another computer or computers do rendering or processing while you design on your main computer is pretty worthwhile as far as i am concerned.
Thread: svdl's RemoveMorphs.py is awesome. i do have one question though.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
svdl:
i was a little confused at first about the exclusion file and saw a post of someone else who experienced the same thing. i found the obj file and then made a blank file to get started. in order to get the name directly, i wrote a snippet to retrieve it as you do in the script. since the morphs that are used are retained, i decided to bypass the file and disabled that part of the script for what i do.
the other thing is that the script needs the internal name of the command and the only way to get that is using python as far as i know. i made a little script to do that and also found that the name may show up for several body parts and that some of them don't refer directly to a channel. it was also instructive to understand that for example "twist" is not the true name.
since, i had to apply the script to each piece of clothing, it might be a nice variation to have it do everything at once.
all in all, this script is a winner and has really come into its own with all the bloated content that is out there. as my understanding of poser increases, i find myself turning more and more to your scripts.
thanks a bunch.

i have a test case of v41 with a cowboy outfit that is 78mb. that was reduced to 6mb and 800k compressed. the morphs in the clothes were as much as in v41. i also tried a file where i put on a new head and a new body that i downloaded and the results were nearly as good.
i ran some tests using my batch render script. the load time and save times were less but the render was about the same in my tests. i am not doing a full scene so the results of others may be different. i have been thinking about making the test script available because it has helped me out a lot in understanding what the effect is of doing different things when making or rendering a scene.

i have a copy of poserspeak. it is much easier because you put your dialogue in a text file and it does the rest. there are no audio files involved. you have to purchase an asapi4 voice and there are many good ones available for both male and female and even for other languages. it uses windows text to speech technology and is quite reliable.
there are samples of the output on the website. i don't remember the url but it is easy to find and i can provide it if you want. i also have a sample i generated for testing and can put it on my website. i am currently doing other things but i intend to return to it to make things for my new site.

i couldn't find the reference you mentioned and then realized that i wasn't using the latest pdf. when i installed poser, i copied the manual to a desktop folder. they never mentioned to my knowledge that they had updated it and i never looked.
thanks for your help once again. i am curious to know where you live if you want to share that.
Thread: Does P5 default figure (eg. Don) have same bone structure as V3,M3,SP3,A3,V4? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
i found the p5 content on cp when i was looking for the p5 python docs.....
i loaded it up and was looking at what's there and there's quite a lot. i am creating clipart for an application i am developing for kids called collage and i am doing lots and lots of renders. i am interested in a variety of characters and not just the sexy ones and i like the older characters because they have small file size and render quickly. thanks for the enthusiasm you have shared.
i was looking at your homepage MatrixWorkz and saw the mention of "virtual fashion". it sounds interesting.

thanks MatrixWorkz
i called as you suggested but they had just gone home. i'll try in the morning. i hadn't heard that we were entitled to previous content but it makes sense.
you said we needed "Wardrobe Wizard and the Eternal Judy". i already have wardrobe wizard so now i just need eternal judy.

i would like to hear more about the dark ages. i started programming when they were phasing out steam power and going to electricity. actually, that's not too far from the truth. i start at boeing aerospace in the 70's before many companies had computers. i did a little bit with punch cards there and at school and got one of the first crt's. everyone said i should get to work and quit watching tv.
i like what we can do today much better but poserpython has caused me to resort to trial and error instead of using documentation and anything that might work. the assistance i have gotten from you and a few others in understanding poser has been greatly appreciated.
i live on bainbridge island across from seattle and am only working on my own projects these days. i would like to hear more about your experiences if you'd like to share them. i think i might understand.

svdl...
i searched content paradise to no avail and tried to download it from efrontier-smithmicro and they wouldn't accept my p7 serial number.
oh well, i guess there is always v4.2 and a4......

this got me pretty excited for a while. i have been revisiting some older figures since i notice the size of my pz3's has really gone up with the newer content. i recently had some fun tracking down pieces for maya doll. i wasn't using poser in the old days and i find it interesting.
i even found eternal judy at renderosity and put it in my wish list. then i discovered that it requires "P5NudeWoman.OBJ" and that only comes with p5. in poser7, i have don and judy casual and a nude don for walk designer. there are no kids. is there a baby among the kids because i really like the p4 baby but it has no clothes and i don't want to get in trouble with the rosity police.
i also had a problem finding hair. le hair from englishbob fits on judy but i found nothing for don, although i think he looks good with the hair he has.
with all the scare about copyright, i think that we are losing some really cool stuff. maybe we could get permission to distribute some obsolete stuff for the sake of nostalgia. if some of this stuff were to get into my hands by some means, i could put it on my website. distributing it is not a criminal offence and i don't think that anyone would want to spend the money on legal services to try to sue an old man on social security. for one thing, they would look like fools to the press and it might be amusing to pursue that.
here's to posette and eternal judy......
Thread: how to terminate a batch render script..... | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
markschum:
that sounds good and i could do it with what i already know how to do.
i had in mind only aborting the script, but when i thought about this, i realized that i could pause and recommence the batch. you have also added the possibility of passing information to the script in a simple manner.
thanks a lot for the suggestion.
