ok....it makes a little more sense now. I guess the idea about putting the textures in the vue bitmaps folder would be a good idea. thanks for your help

Thanks geep...you da man! Honestly...you write the best tutorials...even I can understand them. Have you considered writting a book? I would gladly buy it...and I think every new poser user would become quite proficient in a much more efficient period of time. There are a lot of things in poser that I never try untill I read your tuts.
Thread: Poser -> Vue Question | Forum: Vue
So...if I get this right, I have to empty all of my sub folders into the main texture folders? I have all of my textures in sub folders cuz I cant tell the diff between a p4 texture and a vicki texture, and when I get into hair I am really lost because the textures for hair are never named right. A lot of my props textures have no indication which prop they go with. I can see having all textures in one folder would be a mess. But that explains why I have never been able to go poser to vue for rendering.
Thread: Poser - is it MY work or no work at all? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I am an automotive designer, but for years made a living doing illustrations. I began my work life as a photgrapher working everything from weddings to industrial photography. I started doing art because I got tired of my photos always having things in the wrong place.(ie: telephone pole sticking out of my models head). Poser is like having a camera and your choice of subject matter and background. I must say, it takes twice as much HARD work. Poser figures require an excellent eye to make them look natural. Trying to figure out what is "wrong" in the pose can be a hairpulling experiance. Then when you get into post work you are presented with a whole new set of problems. So working with poser, vue 4 , rhino, etc, all require just as much artistic ability as slinging paint.

Dahhhh...I have not been able to find anything on this site to value minuteman's critique of poser art. I never listen to advice or critisism from someone I don't consider to be an equal or better. How can you be better than "0". I have been a working artist for 40 years and found poser to be a huge help in my work. I don't need $100 per hour models anymore..nor worry about the light. I also have learned a LOT from some here who consider themselve amatures. I have seen a lot of art I don't care for, but never even considered berating someones art just because it doesn't appeal to me.

I seem to recall having problems when I went from 5.5 to 6.0. The recommended fix was to download the upgrade to my desktop and then install from there. That was from a disk, so don't know if downloading from the site makes a differance.
Thread: cyclorama??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
OK....now my head is spining again.....but the effect of this is stunning....more realistic looking than any of my Vue 4 backgrounds. When you buy the cyclorama scenes do you get the basic mesh with it. I would really like to do my own stuff. I am not a platinum member at daz. Can't affprd the big bucks. Plus I don't use most of the stuff they have to make it worth while.
Thread: What the????????? | Forum: Vue
OK.....I turned off open GL and vue seems to work fine again. What does open GL do....and what am I loosing by having it turned off?
Thread: cyclorama??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the info.....I was hoping it was something I could insert my own backgrounds into.
Thread: What the????????? | Forum: Vue
OK.....I can buy that.....but how do I get back. Can I uninstall the driver update? I am running XP, so can I roll back to an earlier date and dump the update that way?
Thread: What the????????? | Forum: Vue
I have a dell dimension 8200 P4 with a 64mb NVIDA geforce3 t1500 graphics card. Open GL is on. Recently downloaded update for graphics card. This a PC.
Thread: Alpha Channels | Forum: Photoshop
Question about after alpha has been done. After the subject is cut from the background, I get a halo around the edges that is lighter than the subject. Also when I try and paint over the alpha, the selection seems to be active and can't paint outside the mask. Example:postworking hair on a poser render.

Finally......someone put this into a comprehensible piece of information that a normal human can understand. Many thanks.
