Yes a bit over 30 mins a frame on final setting. I think render farm is out of the question as I have poser animations inside this animation.
on Ultra it came to something like 960 hours...so i decided not to go that route

It's a long time but I'm rendering out in an image sequence so if it crashes I don't hang myself, also I can check the frames and start and stop the render as needed. My scene is pretty much consistent so the render times for each frame should stay mostly the same

There is this dust material at Cornucopia 3D:

I did it right when I imported the animation, before any keyframes... still seem to have the same issue

Maybe I'm talking about changing the axis point? A bit confused.
Thread: Vue 8.5 crash | Forum: Vue
I decided to kill the render and start over with image sequence...same issue... crashes immeadiatly when I try 24fps but not 25fps. So I'm rendering it out as an image sequence at 25 but at least now I can check on every frame and kill it if something is amiss.
Still perplexed by the 25fps issue, but may have something to do with the Poser animations I'm bringing in...I'll have to check and see if there is some issue with what frame rate Poser animations are created in.

well there is no problem frame because it crashes as soon as I hit "render animation". I probably could render them out to single images but now that I'm 24 hours into a 100 hour render I hate to start over...I guess I'll see what happens.
I should probably be rendering out to image sequences anyways...I'm new to 3D and especially Vue (had it for about a week now) and I didn't know Vue had that option :(

Crashes as soon as I hit render if not set at 25 fps. If I have it set at 25 fps it never crashes and renders fine.
*and this only happens with this particular animation.
Thread: newb animation question | Forum: Vue
yeah but I'm using a mixed material and set both to object and also the mix, but I still have animation going on in the blend area.
EDIT:figured it out...I had more than two materials...ugh.
One other question, when a frame finishes rendering on the last step before a new frame it becomes blurry and renders that way in Broadcast setting but not final. I've turned off any motion blurring etc but still can't get a sharp image, any ideas?

BTW, I'm really going for the photorealism look and not blown away by what I've seen from Carrara vs. what I've seen from examples of Vue. Now that might just be be the artists themselves but if that is the case Carrara needs to get a better gallery of examples on their site. I understand that exeryone prefers thier own set of tools but I think I've found mine with Vue so far. As far as importing Poser animations I was going about it far too complicated, you just import the Poser file and it seems to import just fine without having to go to Collada, in fact the Collada step introduced more problems. Posing in Vue, while not as easy as Poser, isn't too bad...so I think I can do the tweaking directly in Vue.

Here is a frame from my first Poser/Vue animation. Thanks everybody

I'm currently working on a movie called Insectus using live footage with practical effects along with Poser and Vue for CGI. My tests and files can be found here:
