Thread: p7 question... Single core use? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
2.4GHz Pentium 4, Intel D850MV motherboard w/400mHz FSB, 1GB ECC Rambus RAM, 2 x 100GB 7200rpm drives & nVidia GeForce4 Ti 4600 running dual Viewsonic 20-in monitors at (1600x1200 each = ) 3200 x 1200 in dualview mode at 32 bits/pixel color depth and P7 rocks!
Fastest renders and smoothest animations I've ever seen.
Spend the money for the second monitor if your graphics adapter can handle it. Best investment you can make for increased productivity!!

Thread: Export Poser Animation | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Have you tried simply making an animation of sequentially numbered tif files with no background? That should give you your alpha channel and I don't remember the ground ever rendering, however there are settings (perhaps under View) that allow you to shut off things like the groundplane and groundplane shadows (which are different than rendered shadows. You then just import the sequence of files into your next application which will create the animation. You may have to invert the alpha during import. I know the Avid needs that box checked for the alpha channel to come in properly for some reason.

Thread: Going back to Poser 6 until P7 SR1 arrives - Too many crashes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Gee Dizzi,
I looked over the thread a few more times but I just don't see your "help." If you're not clueless, then what's pxp's problem? Expert help from you would be much more useful than sarcasm toward someone who's genuinely trying to assist.
pxp: FWIW, if you have some tech skills, you might want to try the following:
Before you load Poser, do a ctrl alt del to get into the Task Manager and look at what processes are running (the process tab). Many programs that you install will load some background process that is constantly interrupting the CPU. One of the most problematic is caused by "Drag-and-Drop" CD burning software, although there can be numerous others created by everything from printers to smartcard picture downloading software.
It may take some intelligent R&D, but try ending all these unnecessary processes. They can whack Poser pretty badly and cause some of the symptoms you describe.
Do not end explorer, but almost everything else that is absolutely needed by the system will tell you that it can't be ended and even if you create a problem, all you have to do is reboot and everything will come back, AFAIK.
I do this regularly before I load Poser and it seems to smooth out all the bumps and grinds.

I'd also like to be involved.
I'm a member of the New York Stereoscopic Society and just had a projected exhibition of my 3-D photography at the Kettle of Fish in November.
Your English is not bad at all, so it wouldn't be very hard to clean up the manual.
Merry Christmas!

Thread: Poser 7 animation tools? Has anyone tried yet? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm impressed with the movement of the clothing. If it's just conforming then something very cool is happening there!

Was that just the Walk Designer for her running? And are you using dynamic clothing?
Have you tried the animation layers yet?

Thread: how do I unsubscribe....? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks folks!
wheatpenny,
I guess what confuses me is the difference between a thread and a forum. There is an "unsubscribe" at the top of a thread, but I don't see one on the very first page of the Poser Forum itself, so I thought unsubscribe was just for that particular thread...
I still want to be notified of responses to my posts, just not every post
I'll try it and see what happens.
One other quick question:
I see people responding with "bookmark." Does that just mean they have added it to Favorites in Explorer? or is there a way to mark a specific thread here in the forum so you can return to it later for reference, even if there are no new postings. Sometimes there is information that I would like to access at a future date without having to copy and paste the entire thread into Word. I think that's why I "susbscribed" thinking it was just that particular thread and instead I was flooded with every new post.
TIA,

Quick follow up,
when the link is clicked from my above message, it does go to DAZ with a lock symbol.
when the link is clicked from the coleman FAQ, there is no lock symbol.

**This is located in the FAQ:Can the program automatically scan my hard drive for what I have?**
Since there is no way for me to know the filenames for every possible package out there the answer is no. But there is a tool that can be found at http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=20962 that can get you started. Be sure to read the help on importing information.
The page that opens is not the DAZ login page, so I don't know if there is just a simple error or there is phishing going on, but I thought folks should be aware.
JenX:
Thanks for your interest.

Thread: 'Borrowed' images: anyone know XWALL..? | Forum: Photography

While I in no way condone what has been happening here and believe that copyright protection is very important, I would like to inject a perspective that has not been mentioned or addressed in the 9 pages of this thread:Why did you post your images without an embedded, impossible to remove copyright notice?
While you own the copyright of all original work without question, once that work has been "published" you are required to register it and include a copyright notice on the work.
If you do not believe that the work has, or will ever have, pecuniary value and are merely publishing it for others to appreciate, then you are, in a way, culpable of relinquishing your rights if you do not include a copyright notice. Whereas, in actuality, you still retain those rights, it is somewhat more difficult to recoup moneys for illegal use.
Without putting too fine a line on it, as I am not totally versed in copyright law, common sense should tell you that anything that can be stolen, can be stolen. It is not up to Renderosity to put a copyright notice on works you post here as they are your works, not Rendos. If you are comfortable posting without protection and only want others to share your works, then you should also be comfortable if your works are "shared" worldwide.
If this is not something you can be happy about, then put a copyright notice right across the most complicated portions of your image so that it is extremely time consuming for someone to clone stamp it out. While this is not a total solution, it will stop the vast majority of petty copy & paste reuse.
You can use a white text layer with black drop shadow in photoshop, with the transparency set to a value that is visible but not obtrusive to create the copyright notice and then merge the layers so that it is an integral part of the image. Please see the link for examples.
For even better protection on works that you would like to sell, embed a digital watermark through a service like digimarc in addition to the copyright notice.
I truly hope everyone whose work has been involved in this illegal transfer has a satisfactory resolution to this problem.

While it may be nothing, I suggest being careful on the Coleman website. There is a reference in the FAQ to a DAZ forum that when clicked requests your DAZ password but is not a secure page (no lock symbol at the bottom of the page). If you have already typed in your email and password, I suggest you log in to the DAZ site directly and change your password immediately!

Thread: Is Virtual Fashion still supported? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
bopperthijs,
thanx for the reply. I'm totally frustrated with the (non) results I've achieved so far. the whole point of dynamic clothing for me is to use in animations, not just still images. hopefully the combo of P7 & VFPro will allow that, but I'm going to have to wait for more positive input before I lays me money down. especially if you're already having problems!
Regards,
