I'm one of the beta tester holdouts but it was a simple problem that he soon had ironed out. It was an OS glitch that Win2K and Me users were experiencing. I have to say that i'm impressed. Like a lot of others I'd pay just because. Thanks Steve.

thank you, thank you the more layers the merrier. It'd be great if the skin grain, hair and blemishes/beauty marks were each on separate layers. good luck on your offering.

Thread: Which is better - Poser into Bryce or Bryce into Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
you mean like a traditional classroom? Square walls, chalkboard and such? If so the room desks and all are available free, though you'll have to scrounge them up. I don't see why you'd need to go into Bryce at all. As much as I like Bryce. I have ver 5 and the network rendering works well. Remember it takes longer to render out scenes in Bryce. They are raytraced and require considerably more computer power to render. Unless you're using large maps for lights and shadows or huge texture maps there is no reason to think that Poser rendering will take up a lot of processor time.

Thread: Pirates Death Knell? get Maya absolutely free. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It says you will be able to save with an alternative file format. I suppose you won't be able to interchange with other commercial Maya users. "a special non-commercial file format" One thing... they are kinda walking on thin ice because this could make a lot of people mad if they cripple it down too much.

A lot of these modelers are driven by hobbyists who have a few bucks to throw around. And when will the rest of the big boys follow suit? I think this will result in our getting access to learn better tools and kill a lot of the little guys at the bottom.

Didn't mean at all to gainsay cakeone's tutorial. It does just what she says it will. She also says it won't affect the underlying geometry. If I stretch my 40 year old man's skin with a day old beard over victoria.... well I hope you get the drift.

the texture for the model may indeed represent your skin but which model will you stretch it over? The underlying geometry will most likely not look like your face. Mike2 and Vicky2 have a ton of morphs that may get you closer but don't expect miracles there. There is a program for sale in the store called still2real but I haven't heard much success with it. I have a copy but haven't dusted it off yet. Good luck. You could try making your own head morph targets using one of the many 3D modeling programs (not for the faint hearted due to the somewhat stiff learning curve.) Besides would you really pay $200 for poser just to see your puss on a 3D model? You have to have a more compelling reason than that! :)
Thread: Are serious animators in Poser using LifeForms | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've recently just gotten it and yes it is made just for serious animation. You're looking at some serious cash for the package and the premade bvh's are great but using someone else's bvh's is either really good or entirely worthless and the variety of libraries out there is dismal. I've used it enough to say that for body movement animation it rocks. But we are talking gross body movement here not hands or facial stuff. For that, Poser is still great. Quadrapeds are also well treated and making good walk cycle's are very possible. If you have specific needs hit up wolf359 otherwise try out the demo. I use Lightwave with PPP with lipsincing done in Poser using LipSync and trying out textPuppet for some things. Here's the workflow: Do all your blocking and body animations in lifeforms then export the .bvh (pose file) Bring it into Poser and apply the .bvh along with any lipsync pose bring in and animate posable props. host the scene in Lightwave or Max with PoserProPack bring in the rest of the scene elements render animation. sync audio with animation.
