the file/edi/etc... menus and the camera/light selector will stay in the main veiwport no matter what you do but all the other floating palettes can be moved into another screen.
Thread: Anyone else having inordinate difficulties using the "new and improved" DAZ site | Forum: DAZ|Studio
the old forums were timing out for the past 24 hrs for me on two different ISP's, that appears to have stopped, these servers there appear to reside, oddly enough the geograph absoulte center of the United States, which seems a little odd, but yea, working now.
I noticed cloudflare has offices in San Francisco CA but all the daz sites I have pointed to from my locations point back to Central America

Modeling in 3D has been one of the roughest pursuits I have ever...er...pursued but keep with it and I suggest you give blender another try (I did and my only regret is I did not stick with it the first time)
This site has some very well written tutorials that explain what to do and why your doing it for each step.

The difference between any posing program and a modeling program is astounding so whatever software you choose prepare for a challenge. The destination means very littlewithout the journey you take to get there.
@ Sicklysweetie
I'm using Blender, Studio, and Photoshop
what's the 4th program I need?

Daz3d uses a new hosting provider that has moved their servers outside the United States. The forum archives are no longer accessible.
It's definitely slower now for me.

yes you can run two monitors in Studio (and I use Studio 3 as well), one for the view screen and the other for palettes. Keep in mind wherever your mouse piointer is when you go to render is where your render will take place provided you are using the option to render to new screen, otherwise it happens in the viewport. Im running a 25" and 27" LCD and pivoting them with compact guitar stands so I can use them as portrait displays.
Once you get everything set where you want it save the layout. Studio should boot up with the last setup you used but it sometimes gets corrupted with the two monitors so you can reload the layout and pick up where you left off.
Also if Studio is on your "C:/" drive it's not a bad idea to run your runtime on a different internal drive and try to keep your data, content, and runtime on that drive. It will be a bit faster provided it's not an external USB or Firewire, etc. You'll want to do this on a SATA 3 or 6GB/s or whatever your internal controller is. This method also makes it much easier to back up your data. I have years of runtime, I don't like to throw anything out either.

so this started happening around the first week of January, when Daz moved their site hostings to Costa Rica?
Thread: Poser Tools for Blender 2.5 | Forum: Blender
I'm looking to export, but I'm really just scratching the surface with blender right now so my stuff is real basic and might have to keep exporting obj's. I don't even know what half the obj export options do.
And I saw in the python window when I tried to activate this
"Event gives an invalid window"
if that means anything.

Sorry about the necropost but does the most recent version of this plug-in work with Blender 2.65? I'm not seeing the tools in the tool pannel, I do see the option to import from the File>Import section though.

Having this trouble as well. My account works for a while, then I can log in, but can't post. Each time Help Desk fixs it my account stops working again after a few days. I tried Chrome, Firefox, IE, OS X.6, Win XP, Win 7 and two different ISP's. This is not a end user issue as far as I can tell.

It's not like copying files. Watch any render as it happens on the screen, it's anything but uniform. It's add dependent on the calculations needed for the segment of the scene being rendered. Shine a light on a flat surface and render, now add an object with a transparancy, another with a bump, another with a displacement, another with all three and a relfection, sepearate them and render now move them around and let them pass in front of one another render again, same scene, different rendering time, different calculations needed.
Thread: how find another princesses ? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Are you looking to make or buy these models? Daz Studio is NOT a modeling program, it's a scene producing tool for models that are already made. If you are looking to MAKE items from scratch you will need to use a 3D Modeling application, some of which are free and some that can be expensive. If you are just looking to find these items you may have to seach this site and other vendor sites but the likelyhood of finding items with Disney-fied trademarks may be complicated since vendors cant use treadmarked items without rights to do so but you might find something similar. It's hard to tell from what your asking how you expect to get the items your asking about.

Hex was a disaster on my XP,W7 and Intel Mac as far as stability went. If I clicked Undo more than twice that was a death sentence, but everyone's millage may vary. I'm on board with Blender these days. The interface after 2.5 was a huge improvement and it's absurdly powerful, jut don't expect results overnight with any 3D app, they do not work the way your mind expects them too and expect to spend a few hours watching videos before you model anything with more than 8 sides.

I have Studo 3 64 bit and Studio 4.5 64 bit and since installing 4.5 my user layouts are messed up and I have to re create them. Studio 4.5 doesn't work with Studio 4.x but I'm not seeing that Studio 3 is entirly stable after installing 4.5 either, but for the most part it appears to be.
Thread: D/S 4 rendering v. Poser 8 | Forum: DAZ|Studio
as Dust Rider breifly mentioned before: In Addition to Daz Studio's ability to use 3Delight (in a very simplified form and the more "realistic" Uber Envirornment) both Daz Studio and Poser can utilize the LuxRender engine which approaches rendering very differently than 3Delight and Firefily.
for Daz Studio 3.1.2.34 you have two options with LuxRender
Reality (www.preta3d.com, and here on renderosity.com)
and the free LuxRenderDS (http://www.luxrender.net/wiki/LuxRenderDS) plug-in
In Daz Studio 4 you can only use Reality since LuxRenderDS is not available.
In Poser you can use the Pose2Lux plugin (http://www.pose2lux.com/)
Check out http://www.luxrender.net/ for details on LuxRender
