Subject: Jasmine v4 does not render shadows when using raytraced lights.

I'm using this product (which is incredible by the way) that incorporates shaders for the skin.
The problem is when I render the screen using defaults for 3Delight and for the Spotlight with a ray traced software shadow the figure does not make shadows.

If I change the light to deep shadow it does create a shadow.

In the examples below you can see the figure with props, the props and the figure make shadows with the deep shadow, then only the props/clothing and the eyes* make shadow with raytraced shadows turned on the same light.

Does anyone have any idea what's causing this or how I can fix it? I did not have a chance to try a different light type or adjusting the 3Delight render settings but I did move some dials in the light parameters that did not do anything to correct this.

It's hard to see it, MS Paint ate my screen shots, I was up at 5:00 AM rendering them and now I'm at work with no PC or Studio in front of me.

Sorry, from what I see in the screen shots  you've provided (Maybe next time I'd choose a different angle for your question?) I see shadows in the raytracing and the deep shadow pictures.

In the raytracing portion you have shadows along the thighs as the model curves.  There is a shadow behind her ear on her skull.  I see shadows on her face beside her eye, nose and mouth-as well as the glitter on her lips with the model's shader system.  The eyes on both of them look the same to me, honestly.  I can't tell if you changed a shader or not.

I notice, too, on the deep shadow portion there is a seam on the top of her skull that you don't see in the raytracing.  Odd-I wonder if that's from the AO used on her?

I'm not sure what your question in-you have shadows in both light useage.  Perhaps change the origin point of the light itself to get more dramatic lighting?  Or are you asking a question on the shading/texturing of the model itself?  I can see a shadow, too, on the floor plane in both.

Good response. I have the same thread on the daz3d forum, and another user validated that the shaders CJStudios is using are doing the same thing to him with another figure so they probably need to be recompiled.

The shadow you see on the floor of the 2nd image is the clothing.

the angle I rendered was whacked when MSPaint destroyed my jpegs. It's was early AM, I saved them and threw them on a jump drive and brought them to work and saw what happened to them when I opened them, but when I saved them you could see down past the models feet which are now cut off at the knees. I think paint has a limit and 1900x1200 is way past it.

The only thing I changed on the light was the shadow type.  They eyes are rendering because I'm using a more "stock" shader from another model set and they are casting a shadow on the figure.

I wanted to follow up with this so everyone knows. CJ-Studio took care of this and was super professional about it. The model renders perfectly, the textures are awesome in 3Delight and the options are still the best I've seen to date. I can even use the shaders with skin textures from other vendors and it still loos good.

If anyone has any hesitations about buying CJS's models I can tell you I will be buying more very soon, they're that good!
