If you want to be able to create objects by lathing, Bryce won't do that. You need an app like 3D Studio Max, Ray Dream, TrueSpace. there are others, but these 3 come to mind right away.

I believe the only thing you can export is a terrain and I am not sure if allows OBJ, since I never tried. At least I belive this was the case in B4. I don't know if B5 is different in this regard.

Thread: Is your version of Poser or Poser Pro up to date?! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
What version does it show if you have the latest update of propack? I show 4.02.160 and I thought I had installed sp3. Is this correct?
Thread: symmetrical Lattice Tuts? | Forum: Bryce
Thank you so much,ASmith, Ringbearer. Quite challenging tuts but I see that there are a lot of principles covered in those efforts. It amazes me that something so detailed and accurate can be modelled so indirectly, at least it is when compared to mesh or patch modelling. I'm gunna give it a try and see what I can come up with. Thanks again.
Thread: Making thumbnails | Forum: Bryce
Yes. You can do it in Bryce all you have to do is change the size of the render in document setup, but remember to rename it first before rendering it (save it under a different name) because it will overlay the big image if you don't. It doesn't have to be done in Bryce. As I said, you can do it in an image editing program, which is the way most people would do it and the easier way to do it. I just mention the re-rendering in case you either are not familiar with or don't have an image editing program. When it is time to upload it, it will ask you to browse to the directory where you saved it. The thumbnail and the Bryce image do not have to be in the same directory, because it will ask you the location for the thuumb and the main image seperately. That is, you will be doing 2 uploads. I know it sounds like a lot, but once you do it you will see how easy it is. I hope I am making myself clear. If not please feel free to question me about what you don't understand.

All you have to do is go into an image editing program (photoshop, corell, painter, ms paint) and "resize" the image. Usually thumbs are arond 200 pixels at their largest dimension. If you do not have an image editng program you are familiar with, the render the image at the smaller size and save it under a different name.

Hi, Can you post a screen capture of what the layer palette looks like in photos shop, and any other pertinent photoshop captures that might be helpful? Thank you
Thread: Bryce 5 light controls | Forum: Bryce
I could do all of those things in Bryce 4? Well, I have to admit my ignorance, because I didn't think you could do anmy of those things. Certainly, I haven't seen anything in the manual. Either I am missing something or I am not making myself clear as to my question. You're idea, Darelf, about the small hiiden sphere is a work around. I must admit I didnt think of that. But as far as being able to adjust the cone of light(from a spotlight) so that only a certain area is illuminated on the target--well I just never saw anything about that. Sure you can resize the spot, but how do you get it to illuminate only a certain area on the target?(this is easily accomplished in Max). This is especially difficult when the targe is far from the spot. One other thing, does anyone know how to get the range falloff feature to work? Kithcens, in her book, saw that alt+drag in the light preview window will bring up a numerical readout for falloff. Well it just don't work for me. Anyone else? Mind you, I am not complaining, I am just trying to educate myself. And thanks to all of you smart people I bet I will. Thanks

Thanks so much for the help. I am still perplexed why the simple cylinder was so big. Also I don';t understand why, some sites shows thumbs of dxf models with thei skins on, i.e, textured, if the don't download with the model.

Thread: Newbie File Size (Bitmap) Question | Forum: Bryce
The quality of the render does not affect the file size. As to the questions of JPG quality. A JPg can look just as good as a bitmap(to the naked eye. It all depends on the range of colors in the image and the subtle gradations of each. If you have an image where you don't need to capture suble gradations a jpg will be great. I should say that most images do not need the full quality of a bitmap to look just fine. Experiment and see.
