Quote - Some things are possible now, because someone in the past said it was impossible.
...and the consensus was that the someone was wrong? ;-)
Or at least, that it would be really cool if the impossible thing could be rendered possible...
Maybe we should move onto talking about cats now...?
e.g. Schrödinger's cat

I'd like to try and spend some more time learning to make content... and also script with Python and wxPython.
I've tended to get abosrbed with just composing artistic images... and haven't yet dived into the more technical aspects as fully as I'd like to.

You've got to love a crackpot inventor though ;-)
I do.
Without them, we wouldn't even have time travelling DeLoreans... and that's just for starters.
Whilst most of the stuff on YouTube is surely just varying degrees of misleading nonsense, there is always scope for the next major evolutionary break-through or techno-sociological paradgim shift to come, like a bolt from the blue, from some of the kind of conceptual mutation and madness that exists on the fringes of accepted scientific and engineering orthodoxy?
Well, I think it's a fun prospect that it could at least...
...well, fun, if you overlook the sense of desperation that also seems to me to pervade such efforts...
...and ignore the socio-economic factors that imbue that sense... such as the grip that is apparently still held on human destiny by just a few greedy hands.

Quote - Yeah, nitpick all you like, but he has that spark of recognition for me already. The hair helps, of course; a commercial offering, I assume?
The hair is one of Ali's, Hr-094, available here :-)
I'd like to have a go at my own version of the Matt Smith hair though. I'd like to get more of the quiff style that he is "rocking" in the latter episodes... plus this seems like a good excuse to learn this aspect of content creation too.
It is somewhere between Hr-095, Hr-085 and Hr-072 (in terms of Ali's styles) that I think is required ;-)
May be possible (and much easier than trying to model my own hair piece) to make a morph INJ for one of these products though, I suppose.
My own morph will be distributed freely in some way, shortly.
The texture and bump / displacement that I'm working on further, I'm not sure about.
The terms of the MR that I'm using as a base for that dictates "no freebies". So, unless I can get special permission from the MR creator, I might have to think up a way of distributing that for a token payment...perhaps with an alternate morph that is not a direct likeness?

Quote - Far more realistic than my inadvertently "toonish" take on Tom Baker.
Personally, I'd be thrilled with the amount of accuracy you've obtained so far.
Sincerely,
Bill
Thanks Bill :-)
Yes... I tend to get a bit obsessive. It was your Tom Baker morph for M3 that inspired me to start this project. Once I've got a bit more practice in, I might feel ready to try making a Tom morph for M4.
I've found it tricky to get this one right, in terms of not making it too much of a caricature... as Smith's facial bone structure is somewhat pronounced :-)
But I think the Fourth Doctor's face will be harder still to get right...

Wow!
Lovely imagesÂ
None of it looks like it can be real...
...but I guess that's because it is all quite alien, and surreal, to these earthbound eyes :-)

Quote - Keep hope alive is all I can say. ;-)
I'm burning a candle ;-)
Gonna do a displacement map (either in ZBrush or painted in Photoshop CS5 Extended) for the M4 version next, as well as paint more on the diffuse texture... reckon he needs more fine detail too...

Quote - Lips jut out a bit too much I think (or just appear to large) and the eyes are a little off but it's a really close likeness! Nice work!
Thanks Teyon - and good call on the lips! He does need a bit less pout... I agree.
It's all that kissing that's been going on of late... they've stuck like that ;-)
...and yeah eyes too. Was struggling to get in there, to the eyes, with ZBrush. Think I'll need to try another modelling app to refine the eyes...

I had originally thought I'd use Rex here... and make some companions with Roxie.
That's still kind of my plan, beyond this M4 version. But I'm waiting to see if there are further developments from SM on those figures.
Meantime, I decided I'd have a go with M4 (and V4 if I do some female companions).
Quite like the idea of making morphs for the new Poser 10 / PP2014 Toon figures though too!
;-)

Okay - to confirm, I checked my PP2014 Upgrade disks by inserting them (there were two in the box) and even though both of them have "Installer DVD for Macintosh" printed on them, one of them has the Windows installers on it... and actually has the Windows 8 compatible logo on it as opposed to the Mac logos.
jy76tn, did you try inserting both disks (if you got both disks)?
Maybe it is just the text is wrong on one of them, as seems to be the case with mine...
I ordered mine via the link on the Smith Micro Poser site, by the way... got it the week after launch ;-)
