Thread: Nudity does not equal art. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Keep in mind, the name of the image display area is "Gallery", not "Art Gallery". "Gallery" is merely means of communicating that images will be viewable at the indicated location. Whereas many images will be distasteful for whatever subjective reason, the contents of the "Gallery" are not limited to displaying art. People post images for various reasons, not necessarily limited to artistic display. The Renderosity powers-that-be were wise in distinguishing between "Gallery" and "Art Gallery". However, NOT conforming to site standards as expressed in the TOS is another issue entirely.
Thread: I may have posted this before, but.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't mean this to sound rude, so don't misinterpret: If you've been reading the mixed reviews, than why are you asking? You'll only get more mixed reviews. Besides, it would differ depending on the OS platform and machine you're running it on. I think the best advice anyone would give is.... Wait until CL offers up the service release. Read those new mixed reviews and base your purchase on those updated comments. If you are a PC user, the memory issue may be of paramount concern for numerous reasons mentioned elsewhere. If you're a Mac user, you may have to contend with.....um,.....there's the.....ahhhhhh. Hmmm. Are there any serious Mac issues pertaining to Poser 6? My own personal Mac experience is that Poser 6 is smooth as glass, but i'm a very casual user (i.e. I do 3D in tshirt and jeans) and haven't pushed it to its limits to date.
Thread: Ratings Criteria and Layout Posted - Final Draft | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"After 8 years of Hillary in the Whitehouse, #2 would be about all that any of us would have left." Bravo, XENO And Bravo, Peng. I think that you may have hit the nail on the head with developing a Merchant Review System, so long as all criteria is reasonable and precise with minimal subjectivity. Given the outline you've offered, thats exactly your intention. If the movie industry can survive whilst movie critics provide us with critical, albeit subjective, reviews, I think Poserdom can too. In the long run, this could be a very good move. I see it as encouraging, provided the subject of the review can take the crit for what it is and learn from it. Its basically a free "portfolio review", although its presented before thousands of onlookers. The only drawback I can see (at the moment) is that its the equivalent of putting a finger in the dike. There are SO many products, and so little time, and only one Peng.

IK may also be a factor in "cruel shoes". Try turning IK off before conforming the shoes. Zeroing the figure may also help. And then, of course, theres the barefoot look....its all the rage :)
Thread: New Blather Up... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Peng, Great Blather. I echo your sentiments. Its nice to see someone pointing out the "elephant in the room" in a reasonable manner. Of course, the same old people with the same old crapinions will be offended, but what else is new? Encore!
Thread: Anyone else seeing this with P6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"That can easly be fixed." akura_
Thats a bold statement for something that is a consistent cross-platform render issue. If you look closely at some of your own images (specifically the girl with the gun on the couch), you'll notice the one pixel grey band along the edge. The background ALWAYS (to my knowledge) shows through. If its easily fixed, please provide the necessary steps.

Thread: Anyone else seeing this with P6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A lot of people have commented on this issue. It seems to be consistent throughout platforms, as well. It happens no matter the background, and only one pixel along the left and top. I think they call it "render shift". As nigh insignificant as it is, I hope they fix it in the next release. Whereas cropping in an image editor is a simple solution, it shouldn't be necessary to do so.
Thread: Poser 6 limitations vs investment | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Caveat: Poser can become overwhelmingly addictive. Collecting models, textures, poses, etc will consume you. If you find yourself going without sleep and/or food in order to make ONE more render, you may have a problem. Buying new harddrives to accomodate new Runtime folders is not uncommon. It is classified as a gateway application, as many people move from Poser to harder applications like LIghtwave, Maya, 3DSMax, etc. There is no known cure. Consider yourself warned. The investment far exceeds its limitations. Poser is a great program, despite its weaknesses. If you can learn to use Flash adeptly, you can manage Poser. As best as I can tell, the same obstacles apply with this application as with any others: talent and inventiveness. As maxxmodelz said, you won't be modelling in Poser, but you will have a great degree of control over posing, lighting, texturing, and animating both stock models and imported 3rd party models. Exporting animations from Poser is not so very difficult. Getting the animation the way you would like it to appear is where you may have some difficulty. It depends on the complexity of the animation. It may take a few attempts to render the results to your liking. But don't be put off by that. Start small. By and large, Poser is well worth the time (= money). Poser 6, especially!
Thread: How do you make a horse white in Poser 4? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
First and foremost, read the manual (as crappy as it is). From the Materials, change the necessary material zones to white. Otherwise, open the horse template in Photoshop, paint the entire template white, "Save as..." with a different name (crucially important), load this new texture from the Materials panel, apply the texture to the necessary material zones. Unless you paint the various corresponding areas of the template a different color (i.e., the hooves, mane, tail, etc) they will all be white as well. IIRC, the texture is affected by the underlying Material zone colors, so applying the texture to a base white is a good starting point. To view the textured model in the studio/stage window, select the rightmost sphere (looks like a striped billiard ball) of the Document display (the series of spheres beneath the main window). If you've already tried these steps, consider that the lighting may make the horse 'look' greyish.
Thread: Ouch! Kate's hands. Could someone check their version. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"Although I notice they fixed the memory problem in the OS X version, but not in the XP version." Fixed WHAT problem? As far as I know, there's been no problem in OSX. The only memory probs seem isolated to PC. Of course, there are some issues, but nothing specific to OSX. Please update me if i'm out of the loop.
Thread: Another P6 Render Problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
After seeing this post, i tried it as well, and i'm showing the same problem on my Mac (specifics irrelevant at this time). I've tried numerous render variations in P6 FireFly and all results are the same. And, as with your results, P4 and OpenGL don't show this effect. So, it would seem this is not a PC specific problem (minute as it is).

Is it possible to switch OFF the figure circle and keep it OFF with the preferences? Never tried it.
