Dude, with complex scenes, Poser chokes. Put the same complex scene in Max, no problemo. 2X faster or better. Especially with big texture maps. In Poser, those will kill ya. For testing, & many high rez images, turn Antialiasing off for a big speed increase-up to 5X. If you have Max, for viewport quad view, if you have a geforce3 & DX8, your get superb realtime quality. great when building /testing scenes. Thats where you spend most of your time. The high quality viewport is a godsend in Max. A technique pro use, is to layer your animated elements separately. The composite them or paste to the backdrop. If you're serious about animation, you need a better renderer. Also, tweaking choreography in Poser- you'' spend 80% of your time fixing quirks that shouldn't have happened. Wayward extrapolations, twirling wrist or mysterious jumps in a linb. I decided to spend $450 on Lifeforms cause I was never getting anything finished. Good luck

Thank you Konan. Awesome. Once again, Konan is the first to serve the Poser community with cutting edge tools. I can attest to not just the quality, but his tech support & improving his products way after the sales is made. Pack

hmm. Have you tried importing a figure with fingers to lifeform? Custom figures can be loaded & matched to the current figures bodyparts in the BVH files. It only needs to be done once, then you seave the figure. Not too many bvh files have finger info. If you have max, perhaps you can export a biped file of your own design as a 3ds (with motion info) file into Lifeforms..... Are you very good at Lifeforms? I'm in the process of deciding on using Lifeforms, or trying to do everything in Character Studio. I don't think Poser BVH exports have any finger info either.Thread: Michael Credo bvh setup | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Dude, hard to follow your words. It appears you're talking about bending / posing Poser figures in Max? Max does not import posable Poser figures. Entirely different programs. only individual poses, like statues. Max is far less user friendly than Poser. No automatic posable figures. They need lots of preparation first before becoming posable in Max.

Believe me, no program moves parts to most desired poses in 1 (or 2 even)grab & move operation. Grabbing a joint, limits or no, would likely cause motion on many axis at once. Then you end up fiddling around unmoving the many minor movements that took place "automatically", when "repairs" are needed. You spend alot of time wondering just what happened. Best to minimize all motion, the way it does now. For animation, you can easily spend 80% of your time fixing undesired interpolations between keys. You have to fish arounfd the many MT Graphs to figure out where the bad twist, turn or translation is. It's very time consuming. Character Studio (3DS Max plugin)has worked out the vast majority of character animation issues, but is much more expensive ($1500- just for the plugin- another $3500 for Max)& much much higher learning curve. People don't appreciate how much Poser does for a very reasonable price. Anything cheaper can't be taken seriously as a 3D program. Just the Poser geometry male/fem models alone is worth way more than the program. Check out market prices for good 3D models as Poser has. There are other areas, such as interpolation of keyframes, that Poser handles sloppily, limits or no, that can be improved on. You can turn IK on for arms & legs, & grab hands or feet with 1 grab & move operation, if I understand your wish correctly.Thread: The End of an Era | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thorn, do what feels right. If you look around very closely, the same ignorant attitudes prevail everywhere. Most people don't require much from their fellow man, but at least they could MYOB if what you do doesn't suit them. Take smoking, for just one example. People continue this disgusting habit in the face of mountains of evidence. Disgusting taste, smell, side effects, disease, 2nd hand smoke effects, etc. Ditto for religous zealots largely responsible for flaming people such as you. Like they have some monopoly on ethics. They haven't even examined there own history, to which they've handed over their life. Ever gone to a torture device exhibit? Ever notice who in about 90% of the cases were turning/controlling the turning of the thumbscrews??? Priest. They got away with murder for almost 2000 years. My spokesmen for God? I don't think so. Talk to the hand. It's a long sordid list of human atrocities as any group in history bar none. The thought police throughout known history. People should try thinking things through for themselves, more subjectively. The condom issue- whoa. Overpopulation, STD's & AIDS- not a problem. Abstinence is the answer. Looked at the #1 instinct in the animal kingdom - the sex drive. Try supressing that one they advise. I am not reading this thread any more, so please don't respond to me here. Thank you thorne, for you efforts.
Thread: Need help using PhiEditor | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Why don't you try looking at a zygote phi file on the Poser 3 (4?) disk? In the default position, the bending axis is first, twist 2nd, the non bending axis last. Let us know how it turns out....
Thread: Can someone fix script | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
Disaster averted- I recreated the deleted pz3's that I know were deleted , as I bought them & unzipped the orig again. They were in 3 different folders, & all pz3 in the 3 folders were deleted, with no pzz created.. None of the others seem to have this problem, & I have hundreds of files- most of them were already compressed from the original python script. I don't know what to say- very strange indeed. I still appreciate your help. Could be a one time fluke, possibly.
Thread: Can someone fix script | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
Mason, Ummm, I seem to have found an ugly bug in this script. It deleted the PZ3 file, without creating a pzz file. This is not good, as those were my only copies-= It compressed them alright- into completely gone.. here is the script feedback window message: Looking under directory: E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pz3) ------ --> dog_beg.pz3 *** E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pz3)dog_beg.pz3 *** --> E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pzz ( E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pz3)dog_beg.pz3 deleted) --> dog_jump.pz3 *** E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pz3)dog_jump.pz3 *** --> E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pzz ( E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pz3)dog_jump.pz3 deleted) --> dog_lie.pz3 *** E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pz3)dog_lie.pz3 *** --> E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pzz ( E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pz3)dog_lie.pz3 deleted) --> dog_run.pz3 *** E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pz3)dog_run.pz3 *** --> E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pzz ( E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pz3)dog_run.pz3 deleted) --> dog_sit.pz3 *** E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pz3)dog_sit.pz3 *** --> E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pzz ( E:Poser 4ProjectsAnimania_Dog(Poser)Motions (.pz3)dog_sit.pz3 deleted) --> dog_beg.bvh

My continuity sucks, plus no audio, but I have a semblence of a story beginning, tho I have a complete script done. It's a Vampire story.Thread: Q about avi mapping in Vue 4 possible? | Forum: Vue
I mean as a skin/map on an object. It is a basic feature of all 3D animation programs outside the 3D Lanscape apps. Lets say I had a 3D TV, I could play a video on the "screen" of the TV, to look like the TV is working, as an example. Poser Pro added the capability.
