Hmm.. Looks like Deecey is right, they now have a FaceGen Customizer that can work with any geometry. That's new since the last time I checked this out (about a year before Poser 5's release). I had originally purchased a FaceGen plugin for 3DS Max from Digimation. Looks like SI has since pulled the plugin in favor of their own custom modeler. Doubtful if their FaceGen Customizer works with the old 3DS Max plugin, but could be very cool if it did.

FYI, Digimation released a patch on 4/20 that fixed the issue with Max hanging on import.

I got hold of this and the plugin arrived yesterday. It seems to work well with low resolution figures (like the Poser 4 models) but 3DS Max 5.1 seems to if I use any of the DAZ millenium figures. Not sure if it is hanging on baking the morphs, or boning the figures. Haven't tried Don or Judy from P5 to see if they hang as well. The automatic character rigging isn't very precise on the low res figures that do import. It's a little better than doing the rigging by hand, but fine tuning of the envelopes is still needed. But then again, they do say that up front on the product webpage, so that was to be expected. Got to say with the hangs on the higher rez figures, I'm a bit disappointed with this one so far. But I'll keep trying.
Thread: A WIP - is anyone making a Trenchcoat for M3? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
lol. Well, it started with a modification of the archer suit in a lighter shade of pink, but I didn't really like the end result. This was a compromise. Who knows, I may switch it back. Lots of changes yet to make. I'm still trying to figure out how to modify that face mask so that it is more square cut under the eyes and over the cheeks... and the eyes still need work. If I recall correctly he has black eyewhites, but when I try that the red pupils get completely lost. I'll figure it out eventually. I've been wanting to try this for a while, but kept wondering how I would pull it off. Then when M3 came out, lots of stuff came out with him that with tweaks here and there were just too good to miss.

Oh, and yes I agree that the boots are a bit off. They just seemed the best fit from what I had on hand already. I'm not familiar with the Moto boots that were mentioned, and didn't see them with a quick search on the marketplace. Are they here or somewhere else? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. Neo10, I don't actually own either the V3 coat or the M2 Trenchcoat, so I wasn't certain how easily either of them would fit on M3. I had a terrible time trying to get the M2 Ninja outfit hood to fit M3's head. I was able to transfer the outfit to an M3 morph in the Tailor just fine, but the moment I got it in a pose, it would bunch up at the neck and strech in the face. Fortunately a new M3 ninja outfit popped up here on Renderosity just as I was screaming in frustration, with the result above. In the end, I was sure that the M2 trenchcoat wouldn't give me as much trouble, as it was only the head and neck that caused problems with the ninja suit. But I kind of liked the look of the V3 one better, but have no idea how much trouble putting the V3 trenchcoat on M3 would be.

Thanks Steve. I had missed that there was also an update for the M2/Steph plugin. I had thought I only needed the M3 plugin update.

I am still having trouble with the M3 Gen update. On a conversion from M2 to M3, the genital map is garbled. On a conversion from M3 to M2, I get the subscript out of range error that the update is supposed to correct. The version of the UTC is listed as 1.0.12. I had updated my original version with the UTCV123Update.exe when I had originally installed the M2/Steph plugin and found I was receiving similar problems as I am seeing right now. I downloaded and installed the updated M3 plugin from DAZ, but to double check I also retrieved the zip from 3D Universe. When I run the UTCM3Update1.exe it indicates that there is nothing to do, already updated. Does anyone have any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?

Ugh... took me nearly 24 hours to realize it, but I obviously had sound card woes on the brain during that last post :) Make that Curious Labs, not Creative Labs. Sheesh.

Pro Pack is an extra for Poser 4. Though they could be purchased in a bundle, they are originally separately priced products. Body Studio is an extra for Poser 5. Again, separately priced products. An upgrade to Poser 5 for Pro Pack owners is $89. An upgrade to Body Studio for Poser5 and Pro Pack owners is $129 (not the full price of $179) and adds features not available in Pro Pack such as support for Poser 5 Dynamic Cloth and Hair (the hair is still in beta, but there is no additional charge for that upgrade when it is complete). Compare this to Poser 4 which is now available for $119 , and Pro Pack which you can now purchase for $139, both of these reduced from their pre-P5 pricing. I fail to see a problem. Upgrade pricing is somewhat comparable, both upgrades lower than a brand new purchase of Poser 4 and Pro Pack. Poser 5 is an upgrade from Poser 4, which contains some of the Pro Pack features built in. I don't recall ever seeing any claim made by Creative Labs that Poser 5 contains all of the Pro Pack features. Body Studio is an upgrade from Pro Pack which includes the remainder that isn't already in Poser 5, plus support for new Poser 5 features. Add to that that Body Studio is made by a 3rd party, not by Creative Labs themselves.

Hi gryffnn. Just an FYI, I figured out what the problem was. There is an issue with Macromedia Director and the length of the path under which the executable is contained. If the path name has more than 128 characters, the error I mentioned will occur. I simply moved the folder up a few directory levels and it works fine.

Thanks gryffnn. I am on Windows XP. The pdf file loads just fine. The download from the DAZ page was in the form of a .zip, which also extracted ok, and not the .sit. As you suggested, I tried the download a second time from my account page, but received the same message. By the way, there is no .ini file in this .zip archive. If you want to follow up on this out of the forums, feel free to send a private message with any additional suggestions you may think of when you are next online. Thanks again!
