FWIW, I love the look of Poser 11's comic book mode. I think comics are best when they're not trying to look too realistic, partly because of the uncanny valley effect, partly because comics are about storytelling, so you don't want readers to linger too long on a single panel.
Thread: Transparent areas in clothes look dirty rendered in Preview | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
Apologies for working this out in public. It seems different areas of the MFD have their transparencies wrongly set in Poser 11. The skirt seems to be most common.

Ah, I seem to have discovered more about the solution and the problem.
The dirty areas look fine when I use brighter lights.
But it seems like a number of older mats for the MFD are transparent where they shouldn't be. I'm guessing this has something to do with changes to Poser over the years. Is there an easy fix, or do I need to play with each file?

hborre and jura11, thanks for the pointers. It looks like there's a problem with the way Birdman does things, because I saw another poster mention that elsewhere and when I look at the files in the material room, I can't identify the windows.

Do you know if you have V4 installed in more than one runtime? I understand that can cause trouble.

Hi, I am not a vendor any more. Sales were close to zero and in Germany it has an extra overhead when you have a commercial activity. So I decided its far more convenient to stop it. Make things more easy.
That makes me sad, too. Seconding false1's request; it would be wonderful if it was available somewhere, perhaps for free with a note that donations would be welcome.

I haven't tried this, but it might be useful:

Thread: shadows from the fire objects when using Sandworld fireplace in Poser 11 | Forum: New Poser Users Help
Thanks for suggesting that. It does look fine in firefly. I was planning to use it in comic book mode, so if I do, I'll either ignore the absence of shadows around the stones or touch up the render in Photoshop.

D'oh! Almost as soon as I posted that, I remembered that I could unclick "casts shadows" under Properties. It looks better now, but it means the rocks don't cast shadows either.

I've been wondering about AM, so I just downloaded those. Thanks for the nudge and the links!

Thank you! I'll try that today.
I'm 60, but I'm fairly new to Poser, so the old models don't seem all that old. I understand they have flaws, and I agree the new models are very pretty, but I don't like things too pretty or too close to the uncanny valley. Also, there's so much great cheap and free old stuff. So I'm very grateful for your help!
