Damn. Thanks for the replies, but that's not the answer I was hoping for :-( No refreshing was needed in P4, when you add a morph it adds the dial immediately. It makes sense to me that you shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get the display to display what it is there to display. In 6SR1 I was hoping this was just temporarily broken rather than permanently badly designed. Oh well...
Thread: Poser 6 sr1 bug list | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't know if this is a bug or a 'feature' (I'll delete the post if it's always been this way). When I'm adding Injection Morphs to V3's chest the new dials don't appear immediately. They used to in P4 (I don't know if they did in P6). Now I have to switch between Body and Chest parameters in order to get the dials to refresh and the new ones appear. Just switching between properties and parameters doesn't refresh. Is there another way to force a refresh? Could it be related to the lights parameters not updating to show a different light?
Thread: Hexagon vs Silo for creating morphs for Poser. Which do you prefer? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I would recommend that before you spend a hundred or 2 on a modeller you have a good look at Wings3D. I think it's a truly superb little application. Sure, it's missing a few of the features you might find in big money modellers, but it has plenty of useful tools well suited to modelling for Poser. It is one of the best-thought-out applications I have ever used, modelling or otherwise. Once you get set up with hotkeys the workflow is very, very smooth. That's not to say Hexagon isn't better (I haven't tried it), but it would have to have everything that Wings has and a whole lot more before I put Wings away and spend $180.
Thread: What does your Poser look like? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I dunno if Nruddock ghosted those palettes in photoshop but you can get that effect in realtime (if you're running winXP) using a little freebie utility called Vitrite. It works on any window except openGL windows. You select the window you want to ghost and hit shift-ctrl [numberkey]. 1 will make the window almost invisible, 9 makes it almost solid. OB
Thread: A question to all poser enthusiasts | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
What about including a MAT pose which applies the BUM automatically, but as a jpg? I saw this method in a tut somewhere and it works a treat: In P4 you make a .BUM file by manually applying the texture whateverTex.jpg. Then you rename that .BUM extension to .BMP, open it in an image editor (it'll be a weird greenish relief image) and save it as whateverBump.JPG. Then make a MAT pose (just for P4 users) that'll apply that jpg as the bump map. PP users can apply the regular texture image jpg as their bump. It means P4 users are still supported, The downloads are barely affected (it's a jpg, not a BUM) and they have a one-click application, they don't have to jump through hoops to convert anything. Ob

Thread: Brain tap- Am I alone? I'm feeling no rush to buy Poser6... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't have it yet, so I suppose I've avoided the rush, only because I CAN'T buy it - it won't stay in my shopping cart. I've been trying for about a week, I get the "We're Sorry - your cart is empty" message again and again and again. My cookies are working - I can put things in my cart, close my browser, go back to their online store and my cart still has those things in it, but if I go to checkout it is suddenly empty. I missed the pre-order offer because of it, now I'm going to miss the special edition too. Does the 'global store' exclude some countries? I'm in South Africa. Maybe I habe to find a local reseller and pay double the value? Sigh

Thread: Multiple texture images? | Forum: Bryce
The patch solved the problem (and fixed a HUGE bunch of other issues, it seems! Where were the beta testers on that release, one wonders?) Thanks Catlin, I've studied a few tutorials done in Bryce5 and the big differences seemed to be trees, metaballs and (most importantly for me) soft shadows. I think I'll keep a look out for a good deal on 5. At the moment I'm really just using it as a renderer for some poser stuff, and models made in Wings3D. I haven't got into any of the outdoor/landscape features. I find the interface Soooo obscure, it's almost like a puzzle, like a Tomb Raider scene "click around and see if something opens". But for the same reason it's strangely rewarding when you get it, just like a puzzle... ob

Thanks for the prompt replies. If I delete all I get stone-dead tiles, I can't click any of them. At the moment Mr Goldman is the only one I can select, so adding more mr goldmen via the list is all that works. Then once I have the images I need I can save a list and I'm set. I'll try to hunt down an update, thanks. ob

Not sure if I understand your question completely, but I'm also stuck with Poser 3 (and fast getting tired of complex workarounds to accomplish the stuff that sounds really easy in P4). I think you have 2 options. One is to export your new sofa from Poser again (it will go off as 1 obj file) and then import it again as that single object. Then you can add it to the library. If you ever want to make any part of it movable I suspect you'll need to get involved in heirarchy files and make a figure out of your sofa. I've been beating my head against the limitations of P3 for a while now (and discovering some of the tricks the rest of the poser community have long-since forgotten when they upgraded). I'd be happy to 'compare notes' if you like ;-) o b
