Call Coral, they should be able to give you a new SS#, lots of people had the same problem when upgrading from 4 to.
Thread: newbie needs help!! | Forum: Bryce
I find it very difficult setting up precession reflections, even when the whole wall is used as the mirror. All angles have to be taken into consideration, placement of mirror, objects to be reflected and viewing camera angle. If the mirror is tilted even slightly, the reflection can be way off. If the mirrors and objects seem position correctly, it could be the camera angle.

I emailed Lyne and told Her, figured she would like to know. I'd like to think that maybe she's going under an alias, but I doubt it. Especially since the other 3 items Hotter posted don't appear to be hers. Umm I wonder where they came from.
Thread: Optimal rendering settings for Bryce5 | Forum: Bryce
The Minimal, Normal, Aggressive, optimizations are used depending how many objects are used in the scene, few objects = Minimal, lots and lots of objects = Aggressive. This basically doesn't change the quality of the render, but helps speed it up. Ray's per pixel helps with the quality of the render, it determines how many rays are sent into every pixel in the ray tracing process. More rays= longer render times. I seldom go over 64 even with large resolution images. 48 bit dithering helps smooth out any color layering, like you can get with moon rings. Where you can actually see the color change from one pixel to the next, instead of it being blurred together. This image is a good example where 48 bit dithering needed to be used. http://stevesartgallery.bryce-alive.net/gallery8/wolfnight/pic19.html Maximum ray depth determines how many transparent or refection will be penetrated in the ray trace process. Like if you were to place two mirrors angled so they reflected into one another. How many times would you want the reflections to go from one mirror to the other. Or if you where to stack 15 transparent objects on top of one another, you would need the ray depth set to 15, for the last object to be penetrated by the rays.
Thread: Warning: Really Basic Newbie Question, HELP! | Forum: Bryce
When you load the image in the picture editor are you putting it in window 2 also. Window 1 + window 2 = window 3 Without the image in window 2 there is no bump to apply.
Thread: Object oreintation (object space). | Forum: Bryce
All of the translate tools let you constrain movement and scaling to 1 axes, but I'm guessing you already know that. To relocate the origin point ( AKA pivot point ) go to objects Attributes and enable the Show Origin Handle on the General Tab. The origin Point will be displayed ( when you close Attributes ) as a green dot. Then just grab it and move it to a new location. I'm not familiar with Cartesian Coordinate System or Rectangular Coordinate System ( I'm not big in the math department especially Geometry ) but if you can describe more in-depth what you want to do, maybe I can help
Thread: Re-install, serial number blues | Forum: Bryce
I called strait to Coral when I upgraded, and they gave me a ss# to bypass the upgrade part. But if I'm not mistaken the first SS# you need to put in is the Bryce 4, then it ask for the Bryce 5 upgrade #
Thread: Is the Patch officially out???????? | Forum: Bryce
There was a patch there for awhile, I heard Coral pulled it. Maybe it was premature or for beta or something. I heard a few people ( who got it before they pulled it ) say it fixed a few problems, not sure which ones. Looked at there regular patch page today, nothing there for 5 only the old one for 4. Did anybody else get it, maybe give a little info on it.
Thread: Need help exporing..... | Forum: Bryce
The only local object in Bryce that can be exported are terrain's lattices and stones. Some imported objects can be exported to. If the export option is grayed out, they can be exported by clicking on the E icon then press Ctrl + D key.
Thread: Animation......how to make object disappear? | Forum: Bryce
You can use the scaling method but you need to scale it to 0 from one keyframe to the next. So add a keyframe at the last frame you want the object to be full sizes. Then go to file/animation setup, the top set of options is the current time, in the frame# option box type in the next frame ..ie: if it's at frame 35 type in 36, this moves the time line to frame 36, then scale the object to 0 and add another keyframe. Now the object should go from full sized to nothing between frame 35 and 36. The frames per second shouldn't matter because your going by frames, but is real imported to set a keyframe at the last frame you want the object to be full sized or else it will start scaling down before it gets to that frame.
Thread: problems installing bryce 5 | Forum: Bryce
I guess you tried uninstalling it using add/remove programs in control panel. Another option is to delete the Bryce 5 folder in Program files, but this could be dangerous because there may be some shared files with other programs in there. If you have the Bryce 5 upgrade you will need to install Bryce 4 for the upgrade to work. Try installing B4 then the B5 upgrade. Coral may be able to give you a SS# that will by pass the upgrade from B4 to B5
Thread: Gradient Lights | Forum: Bryce
Yea Gradient lights work well, especially with the volume lights. Here's one did in Bryce 4 ( the first Coral patch let you use gradient with the lights, but the gradient wouldn't save with the file ) http://stevesartgallery.bryce-alive.net/gallery4/dungeondweller/pic102.html
Thread: How do I hide objects? | Forum: Bryce
There are a couple of things you can do to minimize the wireframe appearance. You can preview an object's wireframe as a box using the Attributes menu.( the hidden option keeps the object from rendering, on my computer anyway ) Show as box option will show the object as a box outline. The wireframe shadow option ( on the right of scene window ) will help unclutter the scene, by eliminating the wireframe shadows. You can use the wireframe resolution option ( on the right of scene window to ) To minimize the wireframes to 8. Motion: will set object's wireframe resolution as their being moved. Static: will set wireframe resolution when objects are not selected. Selected: will set objects wireframe resolution when their selected. Another thing you can do is make families so different objects can have different color wireframe. This makes it easy to select all the objects that may share the same material, or objects that are common with each other but not grouped together. As already mentioned solo mode works wonders with large cluttered projects.
Thread: Anybody help with importing Poser animations to Bryce??? | Forum: Bryce
Look at post 23 below to see what you need to import poser animation into Bryce.( Natural Pose ) There's another one called Susanna, but I would advise checking into natural pose. As far as I'm concerned Susanna was a waste of my hard earn money.
Thread: Where can I get Books On Byce? | Forum: Bryce
A cheapest way to help learn Bryce is to check out the many tutorials people have wrote for it. Here are some good places to start. http://www.brycetech.com/ http://thebrycechronicles.com/ http://www.hinchu.com/bryce/
