shadowdragonlord's right, there's no s/w on earth that can convert JPG to procedural (although it would be cool if there was!) I have Corel 9 texture creator (like the Bryce one, but with more channels) but of course I can't use it in Bryce unless I map the exported JPG as a static tex. In Bryce, you can either use the mat libraries for procs or the lst libraries for pictures. The only disadvantage is that they're in a different place, otherwise the effect is the same.

Yeah, all of the above. Object 1 - positive, Object 2 - negative, group them together. Make sure they're not already part of any groups, or it won't work. If they are, ungroup and regroup after the boolean operation. The texture of the negative object dictates the pattern in the "hole", the texture of the positive object dictates the pattern of the outside, as normal.
Thread: Inspirations? | Forum: Bryce
I'd love to say that inspiration comes to me in dreams and I sketch
it out in a workbook before I start - but I'd be lying. Almost all
my pieces have been the result of experimentation and test renders,
mostly completed in one sitting (excluding the rendering). I think
the longest took about 10 hours to create. I keep telling myself
that one of these days I'll sit down and do a PROPER JOB - planning
and intricate modelling and everything - but then I get impatient
and just mess about and post whatever comes out. I have millions of
ideas but rarely have the patience (or the time!) to do them
justice. I need to discipline myself more!!!!! :))) My grandfather
used to say "if you do a job, do it well, or don't do it at all!".
I think I need to take his advice! :
Thread: New Troubles in saving... | Forum: Bryce
When you say "freezing", how long did you leave it? A couple of my scenes take several minutes to save just because of the object structure - and that's on a 1Gb box with 7.2Krpm HD. Loads of non-connecting polygons within single objects seems to be the culprit, grass and plants being the worst. If you've waited more than 10 minutes, however, then it's probably something else. Just to give you an idea, my piece "Ox the Hunter" takes almost 5 minutes to save, and that's just cos of the arrangement and number of polygons on the grass. Initially I created a large patch of grass with about 10,000 individual blades, but after waiting for about 30 minutes I gave up trying to save it! This doesn't apply to polygons within terrains, because I've had 60,000,000 poly's before now saving in 20 seconds or less. Anyway, this might be the problem. Or it might not! :-)
