Way cool image. You're right about the helpfulness of this forum. One of the best the things about Vue is the people that use it.

As to why your not geting a lot of traffic on your pictures. I just went to your gallery and you only have a thumbnail up for one image. I gather from comments that I've read that most people wont look at an image if it doesn't have a thumbnail. Its like advertising. :) As to objects to import into Vue try the Props Guild or the free stuff section here.

What are you trying to make? A human figure or something simpler like a posable door? It'll work the same for both but one will be much more complicated than the other. Mini Tutorial: 1)Modeling make sure you don't weld or join any parts you want posable. Be sure that this doesn't occur exporting and importing either. Example: Say your making a treasure chest. Make sure the lid and base are separate objects. 2)You could make the objects seperately and import them into poser but it is usually easier to bring them all in together. Saves you from positioning and scaleing all the parts. This is usually easier to do in a modelling program. 3) Once you get the obj into poser, select it and open up the grouping tool. You mite want to assign material groups here.Export and bring into UVmapper and set up your texture template. In UVmapper save the obj and the template. Now import the obj you saved in UVmapper back ito Poser. 4)Ok, if you exported every thing together from your modeler as one group(but not joined or welded) you must do this next step. If you imported the parts seperately then you can move on to the next step. select the object and open up the grouping tool again and hit spawn props. This will break the object into all it's sub objects. There will also be a copy of the original object still joined together. Delete the original as it will just be in the way. 5)Now for making it posable. Open up the heirarchy editor and drag the objects that you want to be parented on to the the objects you want them to be parented to. Once you get it set up like you want hit create new figure. This will add your creation to the figure library. Delete the one you've got right now and load the one from the library. 6)Now ,if your making something you want to NOT bend ,as it moves in relation to its parent, (like a door in its frame) then select the part and go to "Object menu" > "Properties" and unselect bend. 7)Now is the tricky part open up the joint editor and adjust until the rotation of the object is like you want. Also mite want to set up rotation and XYZ movement limits. Sorry I can't be more specific but each object's joints will require a different approach. That and I suck at the joint editor. lol 8)Now delete the previous entry to the figure library and add the one you just fixed the joints on. Somebody else mite be able to explain it better but this is how I go about it. You mite want to experiment on a simple creation like a figure made out of to boxes from the props in Poser. I hope this helps.

Well hopefully the obj is not one solid mesh with no sub objects. If it is your pretty much in a bind. If they made it really user friendly the leaves will be one sub object and the tree another. If this is the case, in UVmapper go to the edit menu >select >by group. If there are multiple groups you are in luck. Once you arrange the template like you want it save the model and template. If you don't save the model your template want work. I'd also sugest assigning each sub object to a material group. Even if you use the same texture map you can adjust the high light color and trans pareniecs seperatly in poser. Of course you can assign material groups in Poser with the grouping tool. I do this a lot because its easier to comprhend what your looking at in 3d. Hope this helps.

Thats a good fairy. I've always been more inclined to the dragonfly wings on the fay as opposed to butterfly wings. :)

Hey I tried that delete my gallery thing. It doesn't work. I also wrote Mirar and he said that he would add me manually to the delete que. That was like a couple of weeks before the big blow up. As for anti 3d I read somethting Thomas wrote as to gallery submissions that was kind of a negative shot at Bryce. Also I've read stuff on some of the email groups that seemed to indicate alot of the artist felt negatively about 3d. Anyway I relalize its a free site and that Thomas has provided an opportunity for a great many artist. As a member of Gal 91 myself included. I know that in princible the ERB is a good idea but in practice they are way to hostile and not to thorugh in there accusations. But as you say its his site and he can do as he wishes. All I want is for them to remove my gallery as I no longer wish to be asssociated with EW. It's not the same place it once was. Maybe I just like orages better.

Personally I think Renderosity is a better site. ElfWood is not the same place it once was. The art police... I mean the E.R.B. showed up,with there hostile attitude, and now every body is ratting his neighbor out. Not to mention the fact they are a little anti 3d over there. I've been trying to get them to take my gallery down since before the big blow up but they are slower than continental drift over there.

Nance is right or you could go in the joint editor parent the parts to one another and save as a figure.
