CaptainJack1,
Thanks for your explanation. I knew some of this but your description helped to fill in the gaps. Very well done!
So, to do a silhouette, do I need to do it the "real world" way?  By adding a transparent plane between the object and the camera? Will that work? Is there a better way? I was hoping to be able to do some animation with the shadowed character.
 Thanks again for everyones input!

Strum_und_Drang,
Thanks for the reply. Actually, a silhouette is probably what I am looking for. However, your Tickets Please render is wonderful! Great lighting. I do understand the volumetric effects tho. But I guess I was a little suprised when I pointed a spot at the camera and rendered nothing. I realize the light needs something to illuminate. But I guess I expected to see a white spot rendered.
 Thanks again!

Thanks for your help RHaseltine. I may just have to give it a try in Poser instead.

MorriganShadow, I've already started reading the tutorial. VERY WELL DONE! I will take your advice and work it from that angle. Did I understand you right when you said Poser lights don't work properly in DS because that's all I've been using. Thanks again for your time, Nebula

MorriganShadow, Thanks so much for the link and the quick reply! Yes, I had noticed that OpenGL didn't look much different at all. I know how to start the software renderer and I will work that direction next. Do you do your own lighting or do you use a package? I was working with Radiance Pro lights. I'd like to try the HDRI and IBL lighting sometime too. Have you seen any good tutorials for those? I also have the Brazil render engine. Ever worked with it? Suppose to be a nice one. Thanks again for your help and information! Nebula

This is excellent! Thank you so much for all your efforts! I will give it a try this week. I've never really messed around in the Material room much. This should be a good learing experience! Nebula

Hey, that's exactly what I was looking for Raven! Your example works great. Would it be possible to get either a step-by-stp or a screen shot of your materials screen so I can figure this out? Which ever is easist. Thanks to everyone for their input and help! Nebula

Thread: AMD vs Intel - integer math or MMX64 | Forum: Poser Technical
Well, I am currently using Poser 6. If I set the swapfile to 4095 for both start and max, that should keep it from spending time expanding it. I can render a closeup of a face pretty easily. But when you add hair like Milly or Koz, it really shows the hit. I know this has to do with the texture files. I assume my system is hitting the harddrive because it has run out of the 1G of RAM. Is this correct? So if I were to add another Gig, that should also help. Is that also correct? Thanks again, Nebula

When I start a render, within a 20 seconds or so, it begins to hammer the harddrive and hammers away thru the entire render. I have 1Gig installed. Is that not enough? I'm running Win2K SP4. Is there some process I need to go thru to tell the system to use the RAM instead of the swapfile?? Thanks again, Nebula

Thread: Copying keyframes / walk motion from left side to right side. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Walk designer would be ok except it doesn't seem to support The Girl. Plus, her default pose is with arms and legs spread and rotated around the X axis. Is there a way to align her default in the same manner as V3? Also, from the animation pallet, can I select a row of green squares (say, RFoot) and drag them to LFoot and then skew them ahead or back to be proper for the walk? Thanks again, Nebula
Thread: "The Girl" Character | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, I have Girl Walks already. It's a great product don't get me wrong. But they are all "flat-footed" walks. I was looking for some high heel walks. I know I can modify them but I was kinda hoping there might already be something out there. I will look at the freestuff area. Thanks a bunch! nebula

I think it'd be great! What a transfer of knowledge if there could maybe be some instruction /demos and stuff. Awesome idea!
