here a nickel..
on the dress, make the vertices at the entire edge of the chest part constrained, then go ahead and run the breast simulation. make sure everything is exactly at zero, and only the parts affected grow. then export only the chest part as the morph target. if there is a gap in the parts from here, it will be because the simulation also moved the edges.
to fix this, constrain the edges of the other groups, and grow those parts too. them export those as morph targets. you would need to load the morphs for the chest, shoulder, collar, abdomen possibly. but maybe these parts won't change. loading as a morph target to the finished dress should pull the edge verts though, so unless the change is dramatic in the edges, that part probably won't be needed. also i think you are wise to constrain the back and stuff, but you should leave a little room to stretch.
as far as i know you can't export just a part of the obj, but must export the entire obj (body part in a figure) otherwise you will have the verts becoming renumbered. i'm sure someone will correct if i am wrong on this but i don't think so.
once you have the morphed go the the frame you like the morph at and hit file | export wavefront obj, then in the box that opens up uncheck everything except for "as a morph target". to get the morph back into the chest area of the object, select that area and go to the parameter dials. (window | parameter dials ...in case you haven't been using them) and hit the properties tab, then add morph target.
just make sure in making the morph that the figure is in zero pose, inverse kinematics off. go to the parameter dials, make sure that hip and body have all zeros in the x y z areas. otherwise things will definitely get weird.
good luck i will keep an eye here for updates
Thread: How to change all an image's referances? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
do you mean you are changing the very texture that you are using? that's pretty cool. if you save that texture in your editor the pz3 should pull up the saved one(the pz3 always seeks textures on opening...just try not having one!...no actually, don't to that). if you are renaming the textures, then just resave the character, or make a mat file. i haven't done the mat file thing yet but i don't imagine it's too tough. i just bough texture converter which is supposed to do that to today, but haven't tried it. there are certainly things out there for that though. i think even some freebies and possibly a python.
Thread: I never thought there was actually a bias towards Poser until... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
dude for all it does poser totally kills. no 3d suite on the planet can match it. and it's coming of age. of course, you'll never be able to model in it...but you do 2d photo editing in photoshop or something. and the work some people here put out, (not lengthy animations, but stills) are equal to anything done in the "professional" world. look at final fantasy (still the best, 5 years on) and match that to some stuff our guys do. let them whine about how their suite is superior, while you make cooler looking people.
Thread: anyone know of a way to animate joint parameters, matspheres? | Forum: Poser Technical
well that answers that question. i had tried to change the shape of the zone and couldn't find a way. but you say that the influence will be spherical anyway. doh.
i'm just gonna brute force apply magnets to create morphs i guess. magnets give some flexibility i guess, just you have to use so many to be smooth and to get the shape just right.
so what was the shape changing technique for zones? i tried exporting as obj, didn't take. tried putting a magnet on zone, wouldn't take
Thread: anyone know of a way to animate joint parameters, matspheres? | Forum: Poser Technical
yeah i am messing with the morphing side of it...but it's such a shame when all you gotta do is slide the zone around and everything comes out nice and smooth.
if you ask me, the rotation of the joints, the areas of effect, should have a sort of off center setting, so that you are not rotating around a point but more around a ball. (adjustable of course.) the zones seem to try that in a way, by moving the green zone away from the center joint. well okay i guess that would be that. eh. still would like to see it animatable though
Thread: Fixing my computer, Need Advice Please. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
i've done this a lot (had millenium you know) and never had that happen. did you spark the other drive? did you change the fat table of the c drive so that it couldn't read the other drive? (you would have to step back from ntfs to fat 32 though...but xp will do both...maybe you accidently put fat 32 instead of ntfs)
but mr peabody is right about backing up of course...i never do and i always get smacked by it...i need to do it right now...but what am i doing?...
Thread: best character for V3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
eyes of my characters always seemed crossed. i have to rotate them slightly apart to get them to focus correctly.
by the way big fan of v3 (except the joints....grrr....) and v2 whose lower poly understatedness really has some excellent joint work that v3 just didn't get at places. (the shoulder especially)
and because of that Miette texture and morph i am gonna get aiko 3. my eyes bugged out when i saw that promo. but you ever notice how those guys (thorne) pose their models in the promos? they look like they were just hit by a baseball bat, kinda dazed and staggering. (no offense to you guys, really great textures and morphs) or maybe like they are floating like superheroes.

should allow a shortcut change menu so we can customize whatever we need.
should allow choice of parent - child part by + or - key or page up or down or something. lateral sibling movement also (fingers of the hand, jump from l shoulder to r shoulder)
should be multi processor 64 bit! hate that memory problem
are you saying you can have multiple dynamic groups on the same cloth? i did not know this.
Thread: Stupid question about Poser camera controls | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
you can try parenting the camera to a ball placed directly below it and move the ball.
yep just tried it. you can place the ball below the camera or move the camera to the ball ( which is what i did) then change parent of the camera to the ball. then use camera view, select ball, and rotate or move ball. works just fine. should be good for those far off world center views.

there's a free item called bodylocks that can lock and unlock whole areas of the body. haven't tried making one myself, so not sure how it's done. head morphs may be under expressions, sometimes people put it there. (can't imagine daz would though)

Doh! export as morph target!
(newbie mistake)
now i gotta make that morph AGAIN (4th time)
