Bopperthijs,
Were there any issues with installation/registration of your upgrade. I remember that whole thing when VFB first came out where there was confusion over the way VFPro required a subscription to their web service that was an annual thing and it freaked a lot of people out. I've been very unhappy with VFB even after the SR. The very first thing I created after installation caused a lockup. I'm still having issues getting dynamic clothing to work with BVH file-driven animations. Poke through and tearing and collapsing no matter what I constrain. I've pretty much given up on the program.
Have you tried VFPro on any animations?
Have you been able to overlay items?
Have you tried modeling anything more complicated than a dress?
I'd seriously love to have a program that really works, but I'm somewhat gunshy about buying another piece of hype. It's not the $$$ it's the frustration when it doesn't!!
all additional insights gratefully accepted...

Kind thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery. Glad to hear you took things into your own hands and did what was necessary. Many times people are in such a state of shock that they become paralyzed and defer decisions to others. Sounds like she'll get the support she'll need to get through this just fine with a Mom like you!!

From my email confirmation:
**If I preordered, when will I be charged?
**Credit/Debit Card: If you paid by credit/debit card our store system performed a preauthorization on your credit card when you placed your order. While this doesn't post a charge to your account, it does reserve the funds from your available balance right away. Your credit card company considers this to be a "pending authorization". The actual charge will officially post to your account after your order ships for physical versions, and when your download information is sent for download versions.
Paypal: If you paid by Paypal, the funds were immediately transferred to e frontier when you sent payment from your Paypal account.

Thread: P5/6 Focus Distance & Depth of Field help | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
DoF = Depth of Field, e.g., the zone in front of the lens which will be in acceptable focus for any given focal length, f-stop and focus setting.
The longer the focal length of the lens (300mm) the shallower the zone. The shorter the lens (28mm), the deeper the zone. This is why you should always zoom in to focus and then set your frame by widening the shot, if desired.
The wider open the lens (f/2.8) the shallower the zone. The more stopped down (f/16) the deeper the zone. This is why you should always focus with the lens set to its widest aperture and then stop down to the proper exposure.
The closer the lens is focused (2 feet) the shallower the zone. The farther the focus (40 feet) the deeper the zone.
This is all based upon the Circle of Confusion at the film plane which is an arbitrary definition of sharpness of the image on the film. This is intimately connected to the depth of focus which is related to how all the above combine behind the lens onto the film to provide an image that is "in focus."

Angelouscuitry,
load an object & make sure it's selected (e.g., its properties/parameters tabs are showing).
usually the preview window is from the Main Camera, but any one will work.
on menu bar, click Window>Python Scripts to open the Python Scripts window.
Click Render IO and then Calc DoF Focal Distance. A window will open that shows the distance to the object in Feet.decimalFeet. You can then use that number for your focus_Distance entry for the camera.

try using a 3D node like cellular and stretching the U Scale, changing jitter etc, to give nice streaky lines. Use a Blender node to combine the cellular node and a user defined node to give you interactive control over your color. put a noise node on the bump channel with a small value - try 0.005 or so.
plug the same or different cellular node into displacement channel.
HTH,
