Making the root mass an eco system works well for what I want even though I cannot find a way to populate all of only one object. However, I did find that by checking the Density Attribute Placement to Force regular alignment of instances I was able to increase the population density by an additional 40% of instances.
Can Vue Inf. paint an object all of the way around?
Thread: Turning Trees into EcoSystems. | Forum: Vue
Thanks. This idea comes from an idea Wabe was working on some weeks ago.
I can’t seem to cover the majority of the object and although I have tried many settings and different anglar positions for the object, haven’t found a way to get more coverage. So, I was wondering if anyone else has an idea of which settings might do the trick. Other than using transparent duplicates and overlaying multiple objects.
I have Esprit so do not have all of the nice stuff that Inf does.

It is the same on the Gallery circuit, they want consistency; the same thing over and over again. They are not interested in new and your fans (buyers) are pretty much the same, they want what the Gallery wants you to paint, or if fortunate you do best.
So, as you say, if you are good at painting scenes of cars, how many ways can you pose a corvette? We lost the print market because it had all been done after 20 years and investors inflated the prices of prints until few could afford to buy. Now it is Kincaid, which is also finally beginning to wane.
Art and peoples tastes are cyclic, as a professional you ride the economic demand or you perish. Art is all business now and nothing will change that.

If you really love your art no one can offend you with a comment.
Tablesaw;
I am glad to here you are just an ordinary person like all of the rest of us. Whether a hobbyist or an artist your work speaks for itself.
Shonner;
How could you separate the content from 3D, since almost all of the materials the software contains we use or modify are in some way part of the original content?

Tablesaw, your approach certainly is one way to get your work recognized. It still does not make one a better artist than the rest, just clever.

Art is to each, so I would not argue with you about your creative experience or how you obtain it. But, I have never had “artist block.” I love what I do, which always leaves me open to imagination and creativity. So I do not have to turn the emotional spicket on and off to get what I want. That does not make art any less of art or fradulent by any means.
When a teacher many a student would ask, “What should I do?” Many felt that inspiration was something tangible they had to go look for and find so they could record that great masterpiece that would propel them to fame.
Rembrandt was famous not because he was a good painter or a great artist, but because he made a mistake as a businessman.
A professional has spent so much time learning the trade all is second nature for them. It isn’t fraud, it is experience turned into talent. You do not need gut wrenching events in your life to create good or great art work. Rarely does a “gut wrenching high riding wave,” give you the masterpiece you seek. If you spend your life around great artists you may find that out.

As a professional, you do not have to "get excited to get creative." The passion never leaves you and you thrive on the thought of the next work, even when you do not know where it will take you.
No offense, but when you have to depend on others to stimulate you, you still have not become an artist. And even when I see junk I still admire the work for the effort that went into its creation. Models or not, it still takes "the person" to put it all together.
I try not to grade other peoples work, just admire what they did, trite or not.
As far a professinals go; you greet and move on. It's our way of life, always trying to push to the next creative or talented level, and we often go in search of those who support that whereever it may take us. You could say, just like children we outgrow our environment and relationships as we become more expoerienced.
One should also remember that our curltural world is changing, and what was popular and or required a decade ago, no longer is. I do not have collectors waiting at the door anymore, only a few who would buy a cheap print. Times change.
Thread: Above the ground plane - Vue Orbital Render Thread | Forum: Vue
Should have added this in the last post:
About Galaxies and other space stuff. Normally you have to stay above the ground plane to work on such, or delete the ground plane to remove it from view. That can cause a problem in relation to your sense of direction while working on a scene. Yes, you can look to the coordinate’s box, but that can throw you off if a visual person.
This tip is a bit simpler to work with as you want the ground plane and World View Sphere visible so you can relate visually rather than have to check the X,Y,Z coordinates all of the time.
Suppose I will make a nebula and want lots of real estate. I flip my Main camera up 90 degrees to face the top of the World Sphere; you can use the Top camera, or create a new camera to do the same.
Open Options, Display Options and unclick the setting Stop camera from going below clipping plane (groundwater). Move the camera down to the bottom of the World View, you should be able to see all of the ground plane mesh in the Main View. Set the ground plane to 100 % transparent, do not delete the ground plane or the World View will disappear and you are stuck in space without visual references. At least that is what happens in my Esprit.
You will find objects and lights will have to be quite a bit larger and brighter to work in this new added space, but you will have lots of real estate to work with for your scene.

The “Outside the World Sphere View” is an undocumented effect used by e-On in several of their scenes. If you have your camera at the center of the World Sphere and load an atmosphere you like; then do a simple render.
Then Move the Camera outside of the World Sphere, the circular shaped pattern surrounding the ground plane, move the camera away by at least one length of the width of the World Sphere.
Sometimes I go two lengths for a very large cloudy panorama. Then do another render of the scene and you will see the difference. The atmospheres shrink and the clouds appear very small, which allows you to add a number of additional cloud shapes that you could not have added when inside the World Sphere. You can get some very complex looking atmos with this approach.
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1535452&member is an example of the complex cloud shapes you can add. I was one and a half times the distance outside of the World Sphere.
Another simpler scene was Autumn Comes to the Quarry, and DEP 10. The atmosphere in DEP 10 was originally based on the atmosphere End of Time. I added a few low level clouds to get an interesting look. You can get very creative with all of that new space to work with.
Mind you, you will have to have your terrains and other objects outside the box as well and close to the camera.
Galaxies are a whole new ball game and the distances can really get interesting, 100’s to 1000’s of units. Makes for some nice Nebula clouds at those distances.
Thread: Above the ground plane - Vue Orbital Render Thread | Forum: Vue
You can also use the "outside the Word Sphere view" to diminish the effects of large cloud planes and make some pretty interesting atmospheric panaramas, which allow you to add an enourmous selection of special cloud effects. Also works for creating Galaxies and other "outerworld" special effects.

"Click on the little ghost and all that content is hidden," was the reply. Not trickery, just knowing how to use the software if you read the manual.

Most of "that" content is by other Vue artists, and their support is important to some of the rest of us who need that content. ???

Thread: Rendering and Copyrights | Forum: Vue
If it were only that easy!
All software companies own the Intellectual rights to their software including the content and their use by the consumer of that software. Which means that, yes they could control the manner in which you sell any reproduction or artwork based on the use of their software. However, these companies rarely do so, as they cannot sell software if they prohibit the use of such, so as long as you do not infringe on their base copyright, they almost always look the other way. Their base copyright is the distribution and redistribution of software and content, their personal property.
Third Party Vendors are another matter, and one must be cautious and knowing of the stated stipulations between both parties related to the use of such content. Many parties are not well informed about copyright law which often results in bad judgment or flawed Disclaimers by the content artist. Typically the content artist makes a statement telling you how you can use the content you purchase. Again, typically, the content artist requests that you not use the content for any purpose other than personal, commercial rights not included, or commercial right may be included. This usually covers the distribution of the content, but may also include the sale of works of art created by you the user. Please remember this all depends on the agreement in the EULA or whatever statement or agreement that binds the seller and purchaser.
Ordinarily, this means even though the artwork is yours, you can use the content to create artwork for personal use only. If you do not have commercial rights then that may mean that you cannot sell any artwork that contains the artist content without his or her consent or possibly remuneration.
Even if you purchase Royalty Free work, which often requires that you give credit to the content artist as a condition of use, this can be a whole new area of concern. AS many apprach the rights is a different light.
Read the Copyright Law and always Read the EULA or Agreement carefully when purchasing software, and if in doubt ask the artist and get a written statement to cover your backside. If you do not know the limitations of Copyright a law suite can be devastating. There are many more categories of interest contained in the law than “First Rights”, “Work for Hire”, "Royalty Free", etc. Now them if you want to sleep comfortably at night!
