hmm sunds detailed, lisa..is there a tutorial about this anywhere?
The problem I have is it is a terrain..pretty flat.. so it don't seem to help much making a map..should I flip it so it is facing forward then try to uv it?
I didn't think Poser would read .mtl

Is it possible to create a map for export with an obj from blender?
I mean of course it can export .obj plus the .mtl one, but I have discovered that most other 3D apps happily import the .obj but will not read the .mtl file and reference by a ,png etc map for color..
Poser for one is an app that I use that requires maps.
Sorry if this is the wrong place, was not sure to ask here or start a new thread..thanks :)

Thread: polygon reduction | Forum: Blender
Yup keppel that did the trick, It reduced an imported obj I had from about 211 megs down to 52 megs and still kept its shape on export.
Nice tool for free, I have looked around and there are so called poly reducers with a pretty hefty price tag.
Guess if nothing else, blender has a nice set of utilities. Who knows someday I might medicate myself and try to learn it again .. LOL

Thanks keppel, yeah I am new to it too..or should say re-new..lol
I tried it before but it was so hard to navigate I gave up. looks that has improved a bit now :)
Yes I believe that is what I read people talking about..thanks again

Thanks Annie, I hope so. I made some purchases there also, and had put a certain hair in wish list :)

Does that tool also help with forearms? Seems sometimes V4 looks like the amazing rubber woman..stretch / twist marks galore..lol

That too would be another option, using the older models for distance shots. Sort of like a stunt double, thanks for the idea :)

The character becomes a prop, and can be reduced in polygons in other apps. Max is not the only program out there can do this :)
If the character becomes a prop (in theory)Â rendering time should be reduced coming back..

No, I do not even have max, nor do I ever plan to. The price tag of it is absurd.
I just want to create a 3Ds or obj, then bring them back in so other parts like props, scenes will render more quick.
It seems to me the most memory tasking thing in Poser renders, is the character due to all the add on stuff.. i/e hair, morphs, clothes, etc. They can get really huge :)
Thread: Question, how to run 2 Posers or Poser Pros on same computer? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The thing I do and it works (at least for me) Is I use my main Poser which is Poser 6 for specific items. In my case the Daz characters.
Then I create another folder titled maybe PoserJessi, PoserCartoon, PoserRobots, or whatever and just place the original runtime only in that folder. Remember this folder is just a shell, not that actual Poser OS to avoid conflicts on your PC. So before you even do this save the original runtime in a safe folder, if not and you delete stuff, you will be re-installing Poser again :P
After that I delete all the stuff not needed in the main Poser like default models jessi, the cartoon people, etc etc and move them to shell folders
Then of course add those runtimes back to main Poser library add runtime option. It keeps the main one from getting so cluttered, and you can create as many sub Poser folders as you like.
By the way..put any Daz originals lke V3, V4 in the main one..for some reason Daz stuff wont work in sub folders..
Anyhow works for me, and you dont have to e swim through tons of stuff in just one runtime :)

yes I realize the never ever ever thing.
but I figure with some lighting tricks, etc.. it can enhance it a little bit after importing back in to Poser.
Besides in animations, etc..you do not want too real and maintain a bit of surrealism :)
I agree mark, I notice if I export an obj into another program I use called CyberMotion it always complains about not finding textures, and once again begats the silver surfer..lol
