This is true... except for two things:

• her dynamic clothes are made by me in Marvellous Designer.

• my Marvellous Designer sewing skills are nearly as bad as my real life sewing skills (though I get less of the teeny puncture wounds in MD!)

My efforts to convert some V4 stuff to Anastasia have been fairly disappointing so far unfortunately so she's more or less stuck with dynamic clothes at the moment.

Same here. I wouldn't mind a second licence actually, so I don't think I'd be too mad if PP2012 was suddenly free for a month. But I could be wrong.... ;)

I feel bad for the people Daz snared with their sales pitch though. I remember all those email newsletters I was getting full of how this was going to be the best deal ever on DS4!

Likewise. Having made the decision to move over to Poser I've got no inclination to look at DS again. I've cleared all the confused mess that was my Daz runtime and now only need to use my tidy, organised Poser runtime. I never did find half the stuff wherever the DS installers scattered it anyway.

I think Daz may have just made a truely bizarre mistake when they annouced (last year was it?) they were no longer going to be giving the program away for free. Looks like they had no idea that a large part of their user base are hobbyists who just aren't going to pay out the comparatively large amount they were asking. Well, either that or they really have lost it somewhere....

I moved to Poser when 2012 came out as I was totally floored by all of the stuff being shown off by the testers. OTOH the stuff Daz were showing off with ver4 and Genesis didn't interest me at all.

As an early adopter of Poser 2012 it's hard to say how I'd feel if SM suddenly announced it was free for a month.... but I have a feeling I'd be quite happy to just grab the extra licence in case I ever need it. :) Poser's not perfect and there's more than a few things that drive me mental about it, but it suits me so much better than D|S ever did and if I get stuck I can look stuff up in the manual. Wow.

I did try the time limited demo of Bryce7 a while back as I used to use Bryce before I moved to Vue, but I seem to remember it wasn't too stable at the time.

Have finally got my V4 WardrobeWizard files and started having a little play, but I'm excited to see what else is in the works! :)

I'm quite surprised to see several posts over at Daz saying that this will entice Poser users to D|S instead. Is that just because it's free? If so, wouldn't they already be using the free D|S version anyway? Or are all other Poser users that desperate to get Genesis?

Yup! I got Cararra 7 free on a magazine and either got Hex free or 1.99 (can't remember which). Bryce 5.5 was free for years and then I bought 6 when they offered it cheap and it was so buggy I went back to using 5.

I paid for D|S3 and then only used it a couple of times as I discovered that my D|S shaders (created specially for export to Vue - the main reason I used D|S) didn't work in D|S3.

On a side note - Genesis does nothing for me (I'm not one of those who was upset that Genesis isn't compatible with Poser) and now I've got Poser and Vue talking to each other I've really got no use for D|S at all.

Just backtracking. Every version of D|S I had before 3 was free. The idea was that the program was free and Daz made their money on the content. Then with 3 (which I bought and did a whole 2 renders with) and 4 they changed that. When they brought out 4 I seem to remember an announcement about a change of policy and D|S not being free in the future (except for a very basic version).

Looks like the decision to give D|S a comparatively hefty pricetag and expect users to pay up simply didn't fly. Maybe Genesis just wasn't enough incentive?

So now Daz are having a quick backtrack to the "get the free program and buy lots of content" idea.

I took the plunge as an early adopter and got Poser2012 instead of going for the Daz offering (never used Poser before) and can't see myself ever going back :)

Hmmm.... so the plan to stop giving away Daz Studio for free didn't last too long then? Maybe sales of the Genesis stuff have been a bit disappointing?

I've got Hex, don't want D|S and might download Bryce for old times sake.... used to do a lot with Bryce a few years back before I moved on to Vue.

Feel sorry for the people who shelled out a lot of dosh for D|S though. Ouch :(

Since I got MD I've just about given up on most conforming clothing. Have to agree that for so many things dynamic works so much better.

Haven't ever tried Poser's cloth room though. So far just the stuff I've made myself and draped in MD.
