Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 20 7:20 am)
Can't say that I care for the face very much and can't see the rest well enough to comment.
Handle every stressful situation like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
just pee on it and walk away. :-)

I wouldnt have to manage my anger
if people would manage their stupidity......
Honestly, her base face is the same face as Miki 3's...not sure if some dial spinning was done in the renders but my point is, if you liked Miki 3's face, it's in there.
Edit: You may want to take a nice long look at that close up of the eye.... Oh. You can't expand the pics? Hmm. Well, not gonna comment on the promo renders but anyway, that one shot of the eye sure is interesting. ;D
Here's some pics of Tyler

They look great. However I won't be using them. My days of stand alone figures are over. However If these are supported well enough I will give them a chance. Maybe these two can break the cycle of forgotten characters.

Those lashes look like mesh. I can see the sections.
Laurie
Thanks- Very nice! I see inner and outer eyelids-for those who asked. The eyes look good-and it appears she comes with a Caucasian-or at least Eurasian morph-and it seems- skin coloring option
Looks very much likea "buy" for me!

They appear to be a mesh-and I also recall reading that they are a mesh on the SM site. So, yep. I probably will render close ups. See what you mean about clumpy mascara issues.
Quote - If they ARE mesh, are there morphs to make them fatter? Look like clumpy mascara? Overlap some? Cause I don't see the advantage of mesh lashes :(. For me, it's just more mesh load with no actual benefit unless you're rendering the EYE right on top of it.

NNot sure how much I can say but yes, there are morphs to make them fatter.
Well, Eric, I meant you can make them look clumpy from mascara, thin, thick, dense, overlapped hairs and all that from a transmap. I just don't see how mesh lashes will be an improvement other than to add more mesh load to the figure and provide less options. Can you switch between the regular trans lashes and the mesh lashes a la geometry switching? That would be ideal. The best of both worlds ;). Cause truth is unless you're rendering right up in her face, you won't be able to tell trans lashes from mesh lashes. It's really an insignificant feature. Especially when it's actually a step down from what you can make them look like with a trans map (anything). No more glitter in the eyelashes, nothing.

Again, I'm probably not supposed to say but the original lashes are still there and accessible.

That's good...just in case ya want those clumpy or glittery lashes...lol. For all those Gwen Stefani morphs ;). LOL

Attached Link: Vertical crease
There appears to be a shoulder issue in one of those renders. In real life, that vertical crease (on the left figure) wouldn't happen. Getting excellent shoulder deformations in Poser is like the search for the Holy Grail. The character looks good otherwise. Nice work.

This thread is about Miki 4, which is not released yet.
Your link shows a picture of Miki 3.
Whoops, sorry about that. Miki 4 probably resolved that issue.

I have never been one to care too much about the figures mesh, rigging etc from any kind of technical standpoint. Content, content, content. I always liked the Mikis but can barely use them due to lack of content. Of course, crossdresser etc helps, but it's never the same quality results as a tailored item.
Here's hoping these two new kids on the blocks get a chance. She's still got that personality in her face that the Daz figures always seemed to lack 'out of the box'.
Fingers crossed ladies and gents that we've got a good wardrobe on the way.
Quote - that one shot of the eye sure is interesting. ;D
Fibermesh from Z? Doesn't matter; looks friggin gorgeous. To date my favorite Miki was Miki 2. This one will probably "dethrone" her by the looks of it. The full body pic and the eye closeup are the default body and face, right? Gorgeous and YUMMY!

Correct and thanks.
it all depends on the arms/shoulders. Miki 2/3 has bent-straw at the elbow issues and outward curving upper arms. If that is addressed, then this could be interesting.
Also, the Spider/Bony hands as in this posted render....that is a deal killer if not addressed.
I have been waiting since 2006 for the "real Miki" to arrive. [nudity at link]

Looks like your issue is covered Laurie-not that Teyon actually typed that-or we actually read it here... :-)

I wish the intent were not to make Miki's eyes Eurasian, but rather full on unappologetically Asian. Those that wan't to back off the effect can morph it out, but let's have a really Asian Miki default. Frankly, how would you know if she is "Eurasian" as opposed to someone who has blotted out genetic identity with surgery ? Just my opinion.
the lacrimals are a subject of intense discussion when the subject is the physical structure of the eyes in the Orient.
The structure around the lacrimal is called the epicanthic fold. I will give my personal opinion first: i think the unmodified (by surgery or makeup) eye with the fold is beautiful. My celebrity poster child for this: Sandro Oh and Lucy Liu.
I like this guy's page on it, because he just gives the facts and is not afraid to be told he is racist, which he is not.
http://ask-a-chinese-guy.blogspot.com/2010/08/asian-eyes.html
Meanwhile, there is another aspect, namely the eyelid. The surgery to "correct" the case of little or no eyelid is called blepharoplasty. As you might expect, my opinion is that the uncut Asian eye is beautiful as is.

No offense, but the Poser community doesn't need a figure that's only Asian, or only African or only Caucasion. We need a figure that will go from one to the other with ease. I'm not about to go to the competion, but I'd like a figure that will fill the void that Vicky and Mike left. I mean, I don't think at all that Miki is it. But I'm always hoping for that one figure that everyone will wanna use. It could have been Anastasia and Tyler if SM had done the smart thing and supplied those as the BASE but with morphs that will augment them, not the standard, butt ugly base figures we have now. No offense to SM but if you don't want your software to fade into obscurity, then you have to have a clue that you are now responsible for the perpetuity of your program now that Daz isn't. And Daz only was by popular demand. Make figures that are as versitile. Supply figures in the program that people will actually USE. Keep Miki as Asian, because that's how she started, but at least give her a male counterpart. Children. Anything. Create one that will go from one to the other as the Daz figures did. Then you might get the market share Daz had. That can only be GOOD for Smith Micro and the Poser team. But why was all the time and energy and I'm sure money, on ONE Asian figure. I'm sorta left scratching my head.
