Ridiculous! Too much .jpg artifacting, really... but I know that YOU knew that, as well. Perhaps try Riptide on the original .bmp, see if you can make a cleaner .jpg version of it?

Aye, you didn't specify your modeler at the beginning, but I knew where you were coming from... (grins, makes a funny Rhinoceros snarl) Bryce has internal limitations when dealing with naming objects. It's a major flaw, forma modeling standpoint, and has caused several of my greatest scenes to come crashing down around me... Looks like you got it all figured out, though!

Looks great! Perhaps brighten up the big bush on the right, and add some flowers everywhere?!? I think it's as true to the photo as necessary, and it's a great way to learn, trying to mimic reality...

Analog, scen optimization in Bryce is tediuos, but not impossible. What kinds of lights are you using? Lights with "ranged" falloff render the fastest. And of course, lights that don't cast shadows render even faster. Are you using Volumetric World? Don't, it's obnoxious and slow and there are plenty of volumetric workarounds you can use that will not only look BETTER, but will give you some control over their render speeds... Get back to us, start a new thread and we'll help you take that scene apart...

Aye, I'm running XP Pro Jessica Alba Edition, with no service pack updates, and rely on my hardware Dragonwall (Netgear Routers kick ass). There are reasons to need SP2, such as SATA support and stuff like that, so I understand your plight... I would reinstall XP one more time, and stay away from the SP's for a time, make sure everthing is running just fine and then get SP1, make sure everything is running fine and set a System restore point, which never actually works but it's a cool thing to do, if you're bored. Then perhaps try it all again?!? I wish you well, and good luck. And don't ever buy a Mac, Drac. Ever.

Didn't he play Elrond, the somehow-dark-haired "elf" in those silly LOTR movies?!?! (You'd think he could afford a reliable PC after that, I'm told those movies made a bunch of cheddar?!?!)

Fran, no version of Bryce currently supports primitve and metaball exports of any kind, don't feel like you have an inferior version. No trees, no boolean models. Texture export is limited to renders of flat planes, etc., except in the case of terrains... You can export terrains, or previously imported mesh models, or stones. The terrain exporter is actually quite powerful, although obnoxiously slow, but I use Bryce to create all my terrains in Maya scenes...
Thread: Why do we have to put up with this? | Forum: Bryce
Ha! I leave for four days and everyone's freaking out. I have no idea what this thread is about, sounds like a bunch of over-sensitive sniveling brats crying about their toys. I'll be happy to get full-time internet access back so that I can join the ranks of whining pansies. In the meantime, pretend I typed out something meaningful and potent, or better yet, pretend I typed out something REALLY, REALLY funny! Go sit down, relax, and laugh, my friends. It's gonna be OKAY.

ye, Drac, the ship in the story was made mostly of stone. Concrete, realy... And had these huge, ridiculous silver sluglike robots "iconoblasts" and "iconoclasts" that would creep along the hull and repair damage to the Tubes.

I know all of the other DAZ characters (Steph, Mikey, Vicky 2) have an outer eye layer which is solid, and should be set to water or glass refraction levels. Not sure why your V3 doesn't have this feature? (I don't have V3 yet...)

Good work on these textures! See, it's not so tedious, once you get over the whole 3 HOURS part! (grins) I think it looks great.

Aye, but for ten bucks, it's most likely not Gigabit? You know, 10/100/1000? A tenfold increase in speed is often worth the money...
