I think they built the eyeball like that so that folks could get a wet look, or better highlights off of a reflective surface. Carolly

Lyrra, OK, I should check Dreamspinners' site when finances resolve (my job situation is iffy). The plans sound good. Carolly

Thread: Long Black Cloak, anyone?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The Costume Shop CD from DAZ has cloaks and a bunch of other wonderful stuff. Worth it. There are superhero cloaks at 3d-cc (the comics collective) which can be adapted. I think Steve Shanks did a wizard cloak, but it is probably in the subscription area of PoserWorld if available. PhilC did a nice set for males and females (with gorgeous textures from D'Mentia) which was available in the store here. I'm pretty sure that Traveler made one, too. The cloaks are out there; making them black is a quick paint job once you decide which model you like (some have hoods, some have sleeves, etc.). Carolly

Lyrra, last year you were working on real nice castle textures... which I never saw posted anywhere. Was that project finished? Or did I blink and miss it? What I'd like to see are more authentic period textures for stuff: people, props, whatever, with logical remapping so everyone can join in and play. There are some excellent models, but I don't yet have the knack in UVMapper for mapping various subgroups using different procedures (planar, spherical, whatever) and then arranging them for maximum detail on the areas which count. Thanks for making such nice materials! Carolly

If they violated copyrights, they had to be taken off. Is it possible to put the base up, with a tutorial showing people how to add the frogs, unicorns, dragons, etc. they already have in their files to make any kind of crystal ball holder they wish? That would actually be of more value to the community.
Thread: vulture | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I haven't seen a vulture. However, there are morphs for the DAZ eagle which include hawk and raven (Emperor Ken?), and Sharkey made a falcon. Why don't you go to Vista Internet (where there are a bunch of birds and animals) and check with them... and see where the leads go. Carolly
Thread: Were can you download a curtain model? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
check the Props Guild, maybe under architectural or household furnishings. I have downloaded full length curtains, which morphed back to open, but don't remeber which site, it was so long ago. However, they are out there, which might give you some hope. Carolly
Thread: Shoe in back pocket??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The first thing I do when loading a character is turn off IK. (You often have to turn it off for other things such as conforming clothes, too.) I got tired of digging shoes out of places they shouldn't be. Carolly

BTW,that "Costume Shop" CD is worth every penny. There are bunches of useful items in there and TWO more characters with morphs included.
Thread: Roman Coins - Comments? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Every king and emperor and major city has minted its own coins at some point in its history, so nobody can be expected to have all of them (although those collectors are trying). Your associate has an incredible collection of very nice coins. My RPG character, Phoenicia (she is the phoenix, which took the group forever to figure out), has a genuine Phoenician coin (goddess of luck on one side, victory on the other... how can I lose a coin toss?). I have another character, descended from the Dacians, so scoured online coin catalogs hunting for the appropraiate coin for her. Found Roman coins commemorating the victory over Dacia. I thought virtual coins for virtual characters might save a a lot of real ones! Thanks for sharing so many of these with us. Carolly

The Mummy may or may not Return again, but it sure looks like we are in an Egyptian Revival! Carolly

But they didn't have baths in tea houses! The bath houses are quite different, with a place for cleansing and a place for rinsing. Slopping soapy water over those tatami mats will make for a soggy tea ceremony afterwards (wet kimonos -ugh). I like what you are trying to do with lighting, BTW. Carolly

No Dacian one! Otherwise, that will make a nice selection of "pocket change" for all those Romans posted lately. Carolly
