Aye, I'm always re-texturing, layering in procedurals (DTE) mats with any, and I mean ANY texture map. The more layers you use, the more realism you'll achieve. I've never tried Turbo, does anyone know if it will allow you to set up your Bryce mats beforehand? I always change a few key attributes, such as Diffusion and Ambience, they are usually at 100 when I import from Poser 5...

I've never really lost one, unless it was so old I could smell it... But I've mostly got onboard ethernet, no PCI cards left around here...

Aye, thanks for the idea, Aladaron! I'm nearly done with this Rhino hair-work, but it's still very imprecise and I'll most likely end up doing some postwork to it anyway. I'll check out Bantam hair and see if it helps.... More news at Eleven.

(smiles) Aye, but Rhinoceros is second nature to me. I need the practice, as well... And Rhino is quite amazing, I learn something new every time I'm there! I'm not really interested in the easy way out, most of the time it's not really a way out at all. I've tried Bantam Grass and stuff, but got nowhere in it. Rhino, on the other hand, can model nearly anything...

I refuse to be voted for. I will also never know that I am, because I avoid the Hot 20 like a plague. Or maybe it avoids ME like a plague? Either way, plagues are crazy, and very obnoxious.

I have studiously been reposting my older images, as my previous incarnation no longer exists. I remember the comments and the way people made me feel from before, and take no offense at all if people who've seen my pics don't feel like commenting again. It's strictly for my personal pleasure and use. Never feel obligated to comment. Only comment if you are driven to! Drawbridgep, I love your gallery site... Quick, clean, and full of awesome stuff!

No, I think that's an over-generalization. I will never switch to Vue, and to say, "Everyone", means that you either KNOW everyone, or that you can speak for everyone.
Neither are the case, Dann-O. Vue is, to me, a cheap imitation of Bryce based off of what Bryce started out as. Also, considering I just started using Maya, I have no reason to use Vue for animation. It's a toy in comparison.
I'm not certain you could come up with a better way to textually insult the Bryce community here, but if I think of one, Dann-O, I'll let you know. Also, when it comes to landspacing, nothing even remotely touches Mojoworld. Again, Vue and Bryce are toys in comparison. But I happen to really enjoy my Bryce 5 toy...!

(grins at Everyone!) I guess my ebot lost this one, I had no idea so many people were responding...! All of these are great suggestions. I have been to DigitalBabes, and found nothing remotely Mikey-like. But since I'd already started modeling hair in Rhino, I just stopped looking... I won $10 from a little in-thread contest a few days back, I think I'm gonna go for PJF's idea. (by the way, PJF, it's good to see your name in here these days!) And Alvin, I don't mind at all... I needed help, and thank you for your idea, I agree completely... Only problem with enabling SS on the volume light is that it kills the volumetrics, completely. I DO like the idea of him not moping, but hoping... Can anyone tell I'm feeling isolated and lonely, these days? Thanks for all your support and help and ideas, my friends. Makes me feel good...

I think that it is a nice design, but I've seen better. Bryceformac seems to be down, but that guy went NUTS developing a new UI/GUI. It was amazing... The thing about wishlists, and I understand Jelisa's plight, is that rarely does anybody just make wishes. Do you ahve any idea how to actually program that kind of stuff? I mean it as no insult, but what you are asking for is a way to be even MORE lazy about Bryceing. If you want those features, learn to program them, and THEN bring it up to DAZ. I'll bet they either go for it, or let you take your programs to other people. Hell, the plant and tree plug-ins alone for Lightwave and Maya cost more than Bryce does. Perhaps that's where you'd feel more comfortable?

GG beat me to it! Thanks for remembering my mini-tut. Sometimes when I post those things, and nobody replies, it makes me feel like I wasted my time. Glad somebody remembered it!

Aye, selling a Bryce-made spaceship is an ambitious plot, I think the only one I've seen that I would pay for is BamBam's presposterous model. Not to say yours isn't good enough, it looks fabulous!
And MoonGoat beat me to the Families technique. Without Families, one would be hopelessly, hopelessly lost in large scenes and models. Also, it allows you to create texturing groups, which is important... Seriously, I'm uncertain why they didn't discuss Families more in the manual.
One thing MoonGoat didn't point out is that you can actually NAME your families, too!
Just click on the family name in the family editor, and type in whatever you want. "Engines", "Engine Flare spheres", "Hull", etc....
