There are 2 figures called "lawboy" and "lawgirl" with all accouterments of the typical blue-uniformed police officer. I think they were Greylight's, but would have to go digging. Carolly

some sugestions: 1) Pose him as though he is walking, exploring, shading his eyes from all that glory, whatever, but give him some personality via his body language. 2) Show the source of the light shining on him, or at least have the color of the light match the implied lights in your background Look in your lighting library, you will see some wierd combinations, including red and blue. If he has red and blue lights on him, he will blend with your background much better. 3) Why is he there? If he is a space tourist, give him tourist attire (camera and sunglasses?) If a scientific researcher, maybe a labcoat? Even painting a nebula or star on his T-shirt will help his clothing fit better into the scene. Carolly

OK. I'm willing to leave a CD in the drive. I'm even willing to hold a red piece of plastic over a page of fingerprints to find the match or search for the 7th word in the 4th paragraph or whatever hoop I'll need to jump through. If the computer wants to search my LAN (if I ever get the beasties connected) and verify that yes, I only have 1 copy installed, that is fine. I just refuse to have another hardware dongle in the studio, considering that several years later I'm still irritated about the last fiasco. If Autodesk could have given me a patch, or at least some sympathy, I wouldn't have minded so much, but by making my investment worthless, they soured me on the concept of dongles. Carolly

I also download on the PC (it has the dsl line), but do art on the Mac. With Martin's programs, you should have no problems converting and installing your files. Carolly

Mermaids always need some brushes and mirrors! :) Maybe it is because they are so wet, but I thought immediately of mermaids. Carolly

An 80 gig backup drive?!? that's more than the combined total of ALL my beasties dead and alive. :( Note, someone forfeited a longstanding friendship a few years back by getting into my computer and updating my software while I was out and he a guest in my home. He had no rights to explore my machine, much less change anything. It was a work beastie full of confidential information. People may think they are doing a favor, but nobody should change anybody's software without warning, permission, and backing up first. That is more than courtesy, it is common sense. Carolly
Thread: changing eye/skin color | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Headwired, That is part of what the paintbucket tool does. You can change the color of any base material with a couple of clicks. You can also access the base colors in the menu under render > materials. Click on the color bar and then select a color from the wheel. If you decide to use texture maps, then you will need to change base colors to white for every part of the figure. For really changing eye colors, you need to paste new eyes on the texture maps. There are wonder eye collections scattered around the forums, so you don't even need to use human eyes. Anyway, I'd suggest that you find your way through the manual because it can give you easy step by step instructions for adjusting and replacing the textures. Carolly
Thread: Knight, Blood Test | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Um, I thought there wasn't much blood until you pulled out the arrow (dagger, spear, whatever)? Blood is only bright red for a few minutes while it is runneling fresh. Then it goes rather rusty thanks to the reaction of iron and oxygen. Carolly

As a developer, I understand the need for copy protection. My friends and I depend upon sales and royalties to pay the rent (and buy more hardware, software, to make better products, etc.) However, I hate dongles with a passion based upon 3dStudio's utter disregard of the problems their damnable dongle gave me. When you spend $3000 on a package, only to be repeatedly kicked out to DOS and called a pirate by the software, it is prety bad. When the company finally tells you that they know there is a problem and that you can buy the upgrade in 6 months which should patch it, it is heinous. I transferred my copy of 3ds, and haven't used anything with a dongle since. I don't mind the software checking my computer or my network. I do mind another piece of flaky trouble-prone hardware. We sole proprietors have to upgrade systems all the time. I have 5 nominally working computers, all of which need TLC to do their specialized job. I don't need any more grief. NO dongles!!! Carolly
Thread: Where can I get models of armor and weapons? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Phil, That "stick" you are shaking is a 14 foot lance, by any chance? The lady knight and horse armor worked beautifully in my project, and I appreciated the smart propping. :) I used Bloodsong's blanket because I could extend the skirts to look more parade-like, but your tack fit nicely on top, and the posable reins were ideal. Thread: A 'warrior skeleton' I made for an RPG | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Many years ago, I did a cowboy skeleton for a game. Hats, boots, and holster... what else did he need to be identified as a "cowboy"? For this guy, I'd add a helmet and swordbelt with scabbard (both generic). Any armor would be likely to date him to a specific century. Carolly
