Perks, Melanie's hat image IS of a proper beanie. Enimem is not wearing a beanie. Beanies do not have brims or folds. They do not stretch down over the face. Maclean probably has the best hat collection out there. If you want a hat like your photo, you should search under santa hat, stocking cap, etc.. PoserWorld had some winter clothes with hats like what you appear to need, but that site has been in upheval. Tygerlander has textures for hats and coats on her site, and I think there was a loose stocking cap like Enimem's there, and JohnW may have been the modeler, but I don't have time to go check. Search Tygerlander and you should get the right links. Carolly

One of the japanese sites had a man's martial arts outfit. It would need a simple recoloring, and perhaps change of belt, but could probably be used for any of the oriental styles of fighting. Search the links for TwoSwords, because I think he is the one hosting it. I haven't seen a female outfit... and after Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, am actually surprised. Carolly
Thread: HELP ME PLEASE !!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, I usually only slip into the Forums once a night, so I can't reply immediately. Sorry. The hippy headband can be found at 3dCommune free stuff and Poser Forum Online fun stuff, but I couldn't find Maclean's work here. It is a free download, from a guy who has made lots of useful and different props. The Costume Shop CD is from DAZ, and has to be purchased (it is well worth the price when you get to the point of buying stuff), but there are lots of hair props in the various free areas. Looking under "hair" alone will probably only result in supermodel stuff. You may wish to find a fighter or such character (search in the"characters" sections) and borrow the hair for your model. The 3dcc has mostly comics characters, but villains often have scruffy hair. Also check out morphworld (part of bbay). I don't know if Traveler has hairmorphs, but you'll want to make your fighter look less pretty than the basic P4 Dork. Thickening the jaw and nose will be a start. As for that "hair" command... when you are in Poser you click on a part of the body in order to move it, right? For example, use the hand camera and then click on part of the hand in the view window. A set of dials will come up for moving and scaling it. That part is selected. Now type the word "hair" on the keyboard and hit [enter]. You should get a pop-up box full of options to play with. It isn't subtle at all... so you won't get silken fuzz on the palm of your vampire, but this might give you the spikiness you need. Selecting a portion of a bodypart is harder: you'll have to use the grouping tool to select polygons, and I'd suggest reading the manual to learn about spawning parts and grouping them. Hope this helps, Carolly

Well, it looks like you have plenty of leads and links to several very good sites. Even if you make your own texture maps for your specific character, it might help to see how the others were shaded. Have fun! Carolly
Thread: Vikki as Naiad--Need Suggestions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, there are all sorts of mammals underwater, porpoises, for example, and all mammals have some hair somewhere. Walruses have whiskers. Seaweedy tendrils would be interesting. Not scientific, but this IS fantasy. If you don't have head hair, the morphs for seaelf- and vampire- ears would be worth playing with. I think the blue lips are far too bright and the wrong shade, but that may be because I'm tired of blue-lipped "elfs" and "spellcasters". Have you tried filling the entire eyeball with iris (no white showing)? That would look rather alien. Good luck with her! Carolly

Have you looked for characters such as trolls and orcs which might have this proto-human look? If you can find the right face, you can see what morphs were used to create it. Carolly

I'm so glad to hear that you have put down roots again, and hope that you florish there! :)

Yes, you never know what you'll find there: mooseheads to telephones to potted plants... I think they even had a Ouija board(!) in the games section. Props import into Poser pretty readily. :) Carolly

I think Maclean did a "hippy headband" a few months ago. If the tail is transmapped or made invisible, it would be better than painting a bandana onto the skin. For the hair use a woman's style or the Caesar cut on the Costume Shop CD, with a few morphs or magnets to get it to stick out. You can also select the top of the head, type "hair" on your keyboard and play with the spikes. :) (This is an undocumented feature of Poser.) Carolly
Thread: A Castle for you | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Neat! More castles! :) The only suggestion I'd make is to have the walls of the castle come down directly into the moat without that "front porch". Otherwise, attackers could set up ladders and zip over the walls. Carolly

Thank you. One can never have too many castles... where else would we put all the princesses, dragons, and a small, but growing, army of goblins? :) Carolly

There are several textures for the slacks in free stuff sections in the various forums as well as the templates provided with Poser. I only know of one with embroidery, and it might not be what you have in mind (very young-looking, suitable for pre-teens). You should either start with the templates and paint your own texturemaps to get the precise look, colors, level of detail you want, or take a free fabric texture as a base, tweak it, and then paint over it in something like PhotoShop (which has layers and filters and opacity)to get the details. There are website with hundreds of material textures at various resolutions, so you just need to cut and paste them onto your map. Carolly

Ah, yes, the fun part of dressing our little people. There is a "taper" dial or you can scale the lower part of the shirt so that it will fit inside the jeans. If your guy's skin shows through (check a couple of poses), you can make invisible those parts of his body hidden by clothing. Remember that negative numbers work, too. Sometimes you are tapering plus or minus X degrees depending upon which part or side of the "figure" you are working with. Carolly

I don't have any for Michael. Most people doing asiatics create morphs as well as colormaps and so upload pz3 or cr2 files for complete characters. One is called Danny, and may be a self-portrait of KrzyAce. I think I got the others at Bushi's or TwoSword's site, but forget the character names (Taro? Tagukasu?). Rubio and Toshi are collaborating nicely, with Kozaburo's hair. Also, Rena and Steve did a Manchu Emperor, with lots of clothes, but I have no idea if they are available currently... you can ask her.
