Fascinating. I hate to be critical of such lovely work, but the top pair of wings look upside down to me... shouldn't the leading edge (with darker veins) be up? She is a delightfully delicate one, though. Carolly
Thread: ATTN: NO MORE WAREZ POSTS HERE PLEASE | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Scott, I will have to disagree with your position of hiding all this under another area... for who is going to spend their precious time in a complaint arena? Maybe the people who read the obits first because they like bad news? I think that it is vital for folks to know with whom they are dealing. I feel badly because I gave advice to "Jean Alexander" in a Forum thread, thinking that she was a newbie needing a spot of encouragement. I'll still try to help where I can, but I might keep my eyes open a bit better, now. I am a sysop on a service where we have to be careful about accusations, and leaving such posts on the message boards, so I understand responsibility and legal ramifications. However, the only way to fight crime is to hold it up to the light of day. We need to see the excuses these people offer, so that we can counter them, and hopefully, rise above them. It is also important for people who have been ripped off, who are feeling bruised and torn and vulnerable, to realize that there is a community of folks who support them and admire them and who will back them. Anton's loss is very real, but maybe the letters of encouragement he has received will mitigate that to some extent. If we can pray that someone's child or health can be returned, surely we can hope that someone's art is protected? Hiding the issue will not solve it. Carolly
Thread: The Zygote Dragon | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have the DAZ/zygote dragon and love it. (I have 2-3 other dragons, too!) You will find a variety of free textures and poses scattered over the forums for it. I didn't buy the DAZ texture, because I'd already found 2 others which were better, and used as a base for my own. But, I'd wait for a sale, if I were you (artists aren't known for excess cash). If you save $20-30 on the Dragon, you can afford another model, too. :) My next dragon purchase would likely be the one from 3DMenagerie. They do great work, and the flexibility is outstanding. Frazetta (a true master of fantasy art) painted voluptuous women... and none of them have breasts bigger than heads. Being able to morph the clothing will be nice, because I like clothes which aren't skin tight, however, I have no interest in over-inflated balloons. Carolly

Thread: Realistic Looking Braids? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Didn't Traveler's garb pack #1 for Posette have a double braid hair piece with it? That is the only one I have with 2 skiny braids. The Costume Shop CD may have been my source for the other double braid in my folders. There is no "coronet braid" or "french braid" or "swiss-miss braid" that I know of... which is a pity. I don't think that there is even an african-style braid yet (and they have some wondrous patterns). Hmmm... we need more braids! Carolly, with her hair in two butt-length plaits

Also check out Morphworld (part of Bbay). It's got a lot of ways to make The Dork (P4Male) and Posette (P4Female)look much less like androids. The Costume Shop CD from DAZ has 2 more variants of these modelss with a bunch of morph dials so that you can move one side of the face (as in a sneer) which helps make them less perfect, too. Many of the morphs on various sites have been created to make the models look like specific superheros or movie/TV stars. It is amazing what can be done with just the base characters! There are many textures to make Posette even prettier. We need more textures to make them both look more human and interesting. Carolly

Gee, I was just talking this evening about the Rules for Evil Overlords (at least the ones who want to live long enough to found a dynasty)... no opaque faceplates for the minions is high on the list. :) Those of us who fight for the right will be glad to see that the bad guys still haven't learned this lesson. "Aren't you a little short for a Stormtooper?" Carolly

Warrior, The toughest thing will be coming back. It is so easy to "just move on". Some of the things I regret most in life are leaving certain people behind by not staying in touch. We would miss you, and I hope that you will miss us. Carolly
Thread: Do you think anyone could use this.. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Please don't be offended, but it could also be used as a cat toy or imperial fly swatter or topknot on a helmet or... not just a hairpiece. Carolly

We will need a tatami mat, too. :) There was an exhibition recently of treasures of the Edo Period with makeup cases and games and tea sets and musical instruments. Lovely accessories for a lovely lady? Many thanks, Carolly

What a great way to incubate ostrich eggs! And just in time for Easter!! Will she paint them, too? Carolly

The background reminds me of the western end of the Tuolumne Meadows. Now I'm "homesick". :( Carolly

DAZ's Costume Shop CD has a cheerleader outfit which might provide a start. I know someone did a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, too. (They might provide caps, shoes/boots.) The trousers shouldn't be too hard: a bit of texture mapping (racing stripes?) will do the job. The traditional semi-military jackets will be your toughest call. Have you considered starting with a tuxedo jacket (tails!) and repainting the front with braid in lieu of lapels? Good luck! Carolly

Also, there is a filter in PhotoShop called "plasticwrap". Don't laugh! I've used it several times to give a gloss to things which aren't really plastic. You apply the filter (working with highlight amount and smoothness) and then use the "fade" command to drop it back. You will want to "select" only the lady however (lassoo tool)... otherwise it will look like a gooey monster from the rim of space has invaded the privacy of her bath. Carolly
