apparently unticking the IC box will increase your rendertime dramatically , as it will render at a very high quality . tick the IC box and try it at 50 %

BB, your tests have NO BEARING on most normal uses of Poser, which usually involves a lot of transparency etc ( hair, SSS on skin)

ok, reinstalled SR3. rendered same scene with box ticked but still at zero, render took 24 mins, 4 mins longer on a simple scene, one naked V4 with Alrisha hair.
i can live with that, but tying IDL directly to IC in this way is a mistake, can see no real reason for it.
hoping the other improvements make it worthwhile. :))

been there, done that. for my purposes its a waste of space. Lux is perfect for architectural visualisation, but sucks at organics( even if you spend an inordinate time tweaking surfaces)
and yes, IC was unchecked, because i always had it set to 0 anyway.
so, for my normal rendering (ie no IC) SR3 IS slower to render a given scene.
i rolled back to SR2, rendered the scene ( with no changes) and it rendered in 20 minutes. the same scene in SR3 was only 50% completed after 5 hrs.
also, on opening PP2012 after roling back to SR2, i had a disturbing 'traceback call'
which mentioned 'RegisterAddOn'??
not sure what to think about that little development..........................

bummer!Ā rendertimes using SSS with fresnel have increased dramatically with SR3!! at this rate it looks like i will be going back to SR2.

yup, video drivers are likely to be the culprit, i updated to the latest full release for my GT430 a couple of months back, and deleteing bones, moving from set-up back to pose room resulted in CTD on ALL versions of Poser i have installed ( P7, P8, PP2010 and PP2012)
went to the nVidia site and grabbed the latest beta one ( at the time) , worked flawlessly after installing.

i have sent you an email to the addy you gave me.Ā :))

is there a remap anywhere that takes V3/V4 skins over to V2?Ā or a remap that takes V4 skins to V3?

yeah, face needs some work and the genitals are definitely deformed. but kudos to the guy for even attempting to sculpt such a complicated part of the anatomy. most would only sculpt the minimum and make it 'work' with morphs.
agreeing with others, to get a 'realistic' look there would require a really dense mesh to accomodate just a few variations on shape etc.
plus i agree with Laurie, the feet/shin area needs refining as well

better still, choose 'daz studio' as the app to install to, then point the installer to the runtime of your choice.
with PP2012, the daz installers will have problems anyway, as if Poser is chosen as the app to install to, the installer will look for a 'poser.exe' file, of course, PoserPro does not have one, it is 'PoserPro.exe'
the only things that HAVE to go in specific folders are the morph packs ( Morphs++ etc), they HAVE to go into the same runtime as the base figure.
other than that , content can go into any runtime of choice
personally, i use a multiple runtime set-up, and manually shift files to the folders that suit me( basically, any file can go into any folder you want, apart from geometries and textures, which should not bhe tampered with)
for instance, if an outfit has posefiles for texture change, added props and .mc6 files , i place them all in the product folder in the character folder, so everything is in one place for the outfit, no swapping folder views and drilling down to find everything for an outfit. really cuts down on mouseclicking to load specific items.

and which team actively engage with the users of the software?
SMITH MICRO'S POSER DEVELOPMENT TEAM!!!!!!!!!!
may i remind you that this is the POSER forum? not the daz studio forum?
a forum is supplied for those who use/wish to use Daz Studio, and that is not this one.
this one is for Poser users.

contrary to what some keep saying, Genesis is NOT compatible with Poser.
DS4 HAS to be installed to even get at the figure.
to get it INTOĀ Poser you have to jump through several hoops.
even when you have done that, the resulting .cr2 is not fully functional.
clothing does not work in Poser, unless it is heavily modified using DS4 tools.
even then, it is a bit hit and miss whether it will function correctly.
hair also has to be heavily modified with DS tools to even get it to conform to Genesis in Pose
rigging of Genesis, its clothing and the hair likely require joints etc to be tweaked with Poser's own tools after importing.
to sum it up, you have to be well versed with DS rigging tools and the rigging tools in Poser,Ā just to use a crippled version of Genesis in Poser.
so what is the point?
to get better bends?
there are weightmapped figures available to use in Poser that do bend much better than the gen3/gen 4 figures we are used to.
they are not 'perfect' but then neither is Genesis. otherwise why would sets of 'fix morphs' be appearing in store for it?

if you are using Poser, get Snarlygribbly's Scenefixer script, has a section where you can makeĀ FBM INJ/REM files from your character morph.

no disrespect, Rawn. but you have a niche market for creatures made from a base mesh, so Genesis will work for you, as you have a good following of customers.
your sales will not correspond with that of a mainstream vendor. it is a known fact, that outside of DAZ3D's own store, VERY FEW Genesis products will be found.
that says to me that few mainstream vendors have taken on creating for Genesis.
