I used to use 3d studio max 4 to render my poser stuff. I had gotten a copy of it from work. Over time I saw it was starting to show it's age, so I did some looking and found Vue as a cost-friendly, nice looking renderer. I haven't used much of it's landscape capabilities yet as I'm finding them a bit tricky to get to my standards. (basically I'm too new at it. :)) I'm almost completely happy with it, and plan to continue using vue even after my poser 4 gets upgraded to 6 when it comes out. The link is to my gallery where the last 6 images were done using vue. DragontalesThread: New update 5.05 for V5 is up at e-on :) | Forum: Vue
I have automatic updates set to on. Will my version automatically update to this? Or do I have to download it manually? Thanks Dragontales

I don't know if you use poser or not, but something I've been doing is converting some of my poser props to vue ones. Basically saving a poser scene with one prop in it, import it into vue. Tweak the textures, and then save it into the vue object library. It's awesome. Some of the scenes out there for poser come with so many props it unreal. My library for vue is expanding quickly with ready to use props. :) If you don't have poser, look for some .obj files. There's literaly millions of them out there for free. Import them and tweak the textures, etc. Then save those to your library. Just a suggestion. Dragontales :)

yup, I figured that out too. It does help to reduce the texture "trees". Thanks for replying though. :)

I will most likely be upgrading to 5pro when it comes out, and for now will have to deal with the materials as I have been. I will try the Material Summary as well. For anyone else who may have the same problems, one way I found to get rid of those extra materials is to copy another material that the object does use onto it and it collapses them down to one. Just keep doing that for all the unwanted to materials. Thanks for the help Agiel. Ps - if anyone does have info on why vue does those things as stated in the first post, I'd love to know. :)

I'm quite glad about the annoucement. I'm a very new Vue user and so far am quite impressed with it. I bought 5 d'esprit. I think the upgrade will be $199. But as someone who does use poser, I can see the huge benefit of being able to tweak the figure and have it update in vue. My only last concern is how the professional editions deal with the textures. I find it very very combersome to deal with the textures from a poser scene. In 3d max you had multi-texture materials. Which meant that one material would hold all the different materials for the figure. Now it's broken up into like 30. Is there an easier way to do this kind of thing in vue? Dragontales

Lol. I think there is always more we can learn about a program. I've decided to go and plunk down the cash for Vue 5. I ordered it last night so Hopefully It will be here within a week. Glad to part of the Vue community. Many thanks for all the help given to me so far. I'm sure I'll be asking for more. :) Dragontales
Thread: Vue Questions - Possible new user!! | Forum: Vue
Just wanted to say thanks for the help with the replicator. I can see the good and bad points of using it. The one problem I am having is that when I use the scale command, It scales it in single directions sometimes, so that I get very elongated plants, rather than scaled in uniform direction. Any ideas on that? I'm sure I'm just using the tool wrong. Dragontales

Just wanted to say that although the tutorial shows the pro version, this link goes to the vegetation page for Vue5 d'esprit and has a link to the same tutorial as above. Making me think that it can do it.Thread: Vue Questions - Possible new user!! | Forum: Vue

Well, no actually. I was looking through the tutorials on the e-on website and found this one about "Solid Growth" Showcasing Random Growth Technology. If you watch it it looks as if they only go to the plant icon once. The rest seem to get randomly generated. I'm just not sure how it's being done. Awesome. Many Thanks for the indepth answers to my questions. It's one of the reason's I love Renderosity's Forums. So my basic answer is that If I want to use Vue/either version, I still need to have a Program that will let me edit Mesh. I suppose I could hold on to Max for that. So, then, one more question. In relation to Question 5 above, In order to create a new plant in d'esprit, is it necessary to always go back and click the plant icon, or is there a way to keep clicking in the view to create a new/randomly generated plant? It seems time consuming if you would always have to go, click the icon, select the new plant, and move it to where you want. One of the Demo video's showed them creating a "rubber plant" farm, and it looked a lot easier. I'm still not sure how they did it. Again, Thanks for all your help, Dragontales

Last post here! It doesn't validate me as an artist, it's just a little gratification to know that others appreciate my work as well. Sort of like icing on the cake. Oh, and I do have to say that the new "Favorite Artists" lists does help one keep up with others works, as well as keep one's followers/fans (what would they be called?) keyed into when one posts. However, even with that, I found two more artists today (not new ones) that I had never seen before, mainly because I just don't have time to wade thru so many images. It just so happened they were on the first couple of pages at the moment. No matter what the percentage, and I'd wager to say that the number IS somewhere close to 25 percent, a few less images a day would help somewhat. After all, this is a community for all, not just the ones that have nothing else to do but post art all day. It should be somewhat more balanced. That's all I wish! ~Fin

I select "all" as well because my interests are not limited to just one category. By limiting what I'm viewing, I may miss a great photograph, or some really cool fractal image. Perhaps there's an image in one of the other galleries that while I may not know the software, I can still enjoy the imagery. If I sort out that stuff, it's very easy to miss some good stuff. As for responding to the debate about views and comments and that whole business. I think I can safely say that no matter how much we all go round and round, neither one is going to satisfy the other. I would say post the poll on all the gallery pages, as said above, and let the majority decide.
