Thread: Tutorials for rendering?? | Forum: Vue
there is one pdf linked in here somewhere about vue6 render settings ... you would have to use search or maybe someone has the link at hand ...
from what i have heard the predefined render settings (final, broadcast etc.)Â are not balanced very well and there are better ways (described for vue6 in the above mentioned pdf). i think the author is working on a vue 7 version as the settings have changed a little.
and the obvious factors that slow down rendering speed are better lighting models (AO, GI, GR and volume/spectral lighting), transparency, mirroring, volumetrics, antialiasing, larger image sizes, complex materials (check the function editor to see if there is much going on there)
thats about all i know :)

LOL ... I love the penguins!!! i think i have to make a "blopper" image for sales department with penguins :)
thanks for the oversampling tip. that was new for me.
using images to control placement is also useful. but my questions were partly also asked to learn and understand the function editor better. so even if placing the little guys works better with images i am still interested if i can implement the above strategies better than i have done.

the test said my card was ok ... i fear i have to ungroup my huge mesh. its one model with all in it. i was afraid that if i would load it as parts the parts would not align correctly ... so i will try that and find out :)

I have the latest version i think 7.20 build 38524
I will have to see if IÂ have the time to seperate the mesh. IÂ have so much to do and the deadline is coming closer and closer ...

i tried that but it did not work (the number of polygons displayed in vue at the bottom was below the 500000 anyway). i also tried to disable the "show objects as boxes when resources drop...." but that also did not help.
however when i switched from opengl to wireframe it worked. i prefer the opengl view but at least with that i can place the camera :)
but thanks for pointing me to the right window!
