Thread: Shadow Mapping In Vue 9 Infinite | Forum: Vue
Hi Shawn,
Thanks again for your reply. I would be interested to see what you use for your scenes. I have used GR in the past based on some of the Quadspinner tutorial settings. Render times are not so important to me; I am more interested in good results.
Do you think that the shadow map issue is related to the scaling differences between Vue 9 and the older versions? I did try playing with the size of the Vue unit to see if that made an difference, and it looked like it did have some positive effect but I could not get rid of the artifacts in the shadows, although this was all done using the default textures so I will have to try again with another texture applied.
Thanks for your continuing help.

Hi Shawn,
Thank you for your response. I will try different materials and see if it is any better. However, I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer so can you explain why the default material does not provide a good test for shadow mapping?
Thanks.

Thread: Question About Preview Options and Tool Tips | Forum: Vue
Hi Mari-Anne,
Thanks for the tutorial tip. I will check it out and give it a try myself.
Â
As far as the tooltips issue goes, it is only in Vue that it doesn't work. I had sent in bug reports on the previous versions but didn't get an answer. I haven't submitted one yet for Vue 9. I had hoped that someone here could provide me with a possible solution.
Thread: Question About Preview Options and Tool Tips | Forum: Vue
Hi Mari-Anne,
Thanks for the reply. I had read the thread on the scale issue but not the one on the function editor and now between the two I can figure out what the Preview Options object scale does.
However, do you have any suggestions regarding the Tool Tips? I find it very frustrating not to have them especially when you are trying to learn a new interface but as mentioned above they have not worked for the past 3 versions of Vue.

nruddock,
Thanks for your suggestion. I thought that I had copied all of the files over manually but I must have missed something. I ran the installer this time and it now works.

Hi JimTS,
That is what I have been doing but I was hoping to be able to delete Poser 7. I guess if I have to keep it it is not that big of a deal.
Thanks.

Thanks bagginsbill.
I have looked at the file and it does not appear to have col in place of column. That particular letter comination does not appear in the file.

Hi JimTS,
I have tried to open the .pyc file in Word and Notepad but they can't read it properly. Is there a Python editor that is free?

I like your website very much. It provides a space that is specifically dedicated to turoials on mainly Vue but also related software such as Photoshop and Hexagon. I like the way that the tutorials are grouped and are easy to find. This is something that could get lost if it moves to a site such as Renderosity, but as mentioned above, it may make it more accessible to a greater number of people.
I agree with the above posts regarding the inclusion of materials etc into the tutorial packages, even if that probably would increase the cost of the DVDs. And links to the final images would be helpful as well.
One thing that I like about some of your latest tutorials is the "Complete Guide" approach. It compliments very well the project oriented approach that you have taken in the majority of your other tutorials. The two together really are very helpful.
As far as other topics, perhaps you can continue the "Complete Guide" approach by extending it into things such as the plant editors, the atmosphere editors etc. You have touched on these often in the project oriented tutorials, but at least for me a series of tutorials targeted at the various editiors would be very helpful.
